The exact description-

To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes. {sic. What other purpose would there be?}

He is the sole sponsor of the bill that amounts to a two year mandatory uniformed military draft or civilian service draft.   I object. 

This is not China and this is not Israel where National military service is mandatory for any non-Arab Israeli citizen over the age of 18, although other exceptions may be made on religious, physical or psychological grounds.  Men serve three years in the IDF, while women serve two. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Defense_Forces

Rangel took to the floor of the House to reintroduce H.R. 5741, stating, “I have introduced legislation to reinstate the draft and to make it permanent during time of war. Rangle first brought the idea up in 2003 when the U.S. was at preparing to invade Iraq, and again in 2004, 2006 and 2007.  Under the guise of National Security and Homeland Defense, the President would have far reaching power into the individuals pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, and of course more government control. 

America it seems is nearly always at war.  From the War on Terror, to Iran and Afghanistan,  yet our voluntary military system works on behalf of the downtrodden and U.S. interests.  It is up to the leaders to provide the leadership to make it work as it has for hundred’s of years. We already have a VOLUNTARY MILITARY, if the government wants to set up VOLUNTARY SERVICE then so be it; NOT A MANDATORY DRAFT!

We could almost understand a bill that would require, that if you are 18 years of age, not in school, do not have a job, and not needed at home, then, and only then would any-sort of a MANDATORY service be required.  Perhaps that is Rangle’s angle, to soften things up a bit in the bill’s final passage. A t least Rangle served in the Army, which is more than our commander-in-chief can say.

Legal and non-legal citizens are currently required to register with Selective Services for men 18-25, not 42!  

Selective Service does not collect any information which would indicate whether or not you are undocumented. You want to protect yourself for future U.S. citizenship and other government benefits and programs by registering with Selective Service. Do it today.

If you are a man ages 18 through 25 and living in the U.S., then you must register with Selective Service. It’s the law. According to law, a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. Selective Service will accept late registrations but not after a man has reached age 26. –http://www.sss.gov/

Just maybe if Selective Services verified if registrants were undocumented, we would know if they were here illegally!  Duh.  Does the Armed Services accept undocumented citizens into the military? We accepted a President with little documentation.

Recruiting standards have been lowered and more people looking for jobs are already turning to the military.  In a report from the Army, a “newly released study on the psychological health of its soldiers, “Health Promotion, Risk Reduction, and Suicide Prevention,” is brutally honest about a growing problem in the ranks.

America remains in a declared, “state of emergency,” from the swine flu pandemic.  As it stands, if this passes- mothers, daughters, fathers and sons will be commissioned into government servitude service disrupting core families, further eroding  jobs, the economy and quite possibly affecting an entire population with mental health issues, say nothing of battlefield injury.  Certainly not to say all servicemen and women experience problems or participate in battlefield operations.

BTW, just where would you house a civilian military?  Could it be all those FEMA camps we’ve been hearing about?  Sarcastically we write -on the plus side that those called into service would not be a drain on Universal Healthcare.  Inductees would be mandatorily vaccinated and medically cared for under the military budget.   They would also not be counted in unemployment levels, screwing the jobs report numbers.  You know, do whatever it takes to cook the books.

In an attempt to yet again alter the Constitution, we are reminded of President Obama’s  challenge to democracy.  He said loud and clear, “It’s a tragedy the Constitution wasn’t radically reinterpreted to force redistribution of wealth for African Americans.”

It would be a tragedy to see the Constitution reinterpreted to force military and civilian service for people as this bill is written.  Should  President Obama sign this legislation, President Lincoln will be rolling at the thought that Obama swore his Presidential Oath on his Bible.

A BILL

To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE; TABLE OF CONTENTS.

(a) Short Title- This Act may be cited as the ‘Universal National Service Act’.

(b) Table of Contents- The table of contents for this Act is as follows:

TITLE II–AMENDMENTS TO MILITARY SELECTIVE SERVICE ACT

TITLE I–NATIONAL SERVICE

SEC. 101. DEFINITIONS.

In this title:

(1) The term ‘contingency operation’ has the meaning given that term in section 101(a)(13) of title 10, United States Code.

(2) The term ‘military service’ means service performed as a member of an active or reserve component of the uniformed services.

(3) The term ‘national service’ means military service or service in a civilian capacity that, as determined by the President, promotes the national defense, including national or community service and service related to homeland security.

(4) The term ‘Secretary concerned’ means the Secretary of Defense with respect to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, the Secretary of Homeland Security with respect to the Coast Guard, the Secretary of Commerce, with respect to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, with respect to the Public Health Service.

(5) The term ‘United States’, when used in a geographical sense, means the several States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.

(6) The term ‘uniformed services’ means the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, commissioned corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and commissioned corps of the Public Health Service.

SEC. 102. NATIONAL SERVICE OBLIGATION.

(a) Obligation for Service- It is the obligation of every citizen of the United States, and every other person residing in the United States, who is between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform a period of national service as prescribed in this title unless exempted under the provisions of this title.

(b) Forms of National Service- The national service obligation under this title shall be performed either–

(1) as a member of an active or reserve component of the uniformed services; or

(2) in a civilian capacity that, as determined by the President, promotes the national defense, including national or community service and service related to homeland security.

(c) Age Limits- A person may be inducted under this title only if the person has attained the age of 18 and has not attained the age of 42.

SEC. 103. INDUCTION TO PERFORM NATIONAL SERVICE.

(a) Induction Requirements- The President shall provide for the induction of persons described in section 102(a) to perform their national service obligation.

(b) Limitation on Induction for Military Service- Persons described in section 102(a) may be inducted to perform military service only if–

(1) a declaration of war is in effect;

(2) the President declares a national emergency, which the President determines necessitates the induction of persons to perform military service, and immediately informs Congress of the reasons for the declaration and the need to induct persons for military service; or

(3) members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps are engaged in a contingency operation pursuant to a congressional authorization for the use of military force.

(c) Limitation on Number of Persons Inducted for Military Service- When the induction of persons for military service is authorized by subsection (b), the President shall determine the number of persons described in section 102(a) whose national service obligation is to be satisfied through military service based on–

(1) the authorized end strengths of the uniformed services;

(2) the feasibility of the uniformed services to recruit sufficient volunteers to achieve such end-strength levels; and

(3) provide a mechanism for the random selection of persons to be inducted to perform military service.

(d) Selection for Induction-

(1) RANDOM SELECTION FOR MILITARY SERVICE- When the induction of persons for military service is authorized by subsection (b), the President shall utilize a mechanism for the random selection of persons to be inducted to perform military service.

(2) CIVILIAN SERVICE- Persons described in section 102(a) who do not volunteer to perform military service or are not inducted for military service shall perform their national service obligation in a civilian capacity pursuant to section 102(b)(2).

(e) Voluntary Service- A person subject to induction under this title may–

(1) volunteer to perform national service in lieu of being inducted; or

(2) request permission to be inducted at a time other than the time at which the person is otherwise called for induction.

SEC. 104. TWO-YEAR PERIOD OF NATIONAL SERVICE.

(a) General Rule- Except as otherwise provided in this section, the period of national service performed by a person under this title shall be two years.

(b) Grounds for Extension- At the discretion of the President, the period of military service for a member of the uniformed services under this title may be extended–

(1) with the consent of the member, for the purpose of furnishing hospitalization, medical, or surgical care for injury or illness incurred in line of duty; or

(2) for the purpose of requiring the member to compensate for any time lost to training for any cause.

(c) Early Termination- The period of national service for a person under this title shall be terminated before the end of such period under the following circumstances:

(1) The voluntary enlistment and active service of the person in an active or reserve component of the uniformed services for a period of at least two years, in which case the period of basic military training and education actually served by the person shall be counted toward the term of enlistment.

(2) The admission and service of the person as a cadet or midshipman at the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, or the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

(3) The enrollment and service of the person in an officer candidate program, if the person has signed an agreement to accept a Reserve commission in the appropriate service with an obligation to serve on active duty if such a commission is offered upon completion of the program.

(4) Such other grounds as the President may establish.

SEC. 105. IMPLEMENTATION BY THE PRESIDENT.

(a) In General- The President shall prescribe such regulations as are necessary to carry out this title.

(b) Matter To Be Covered by Regulations- Such regulations shall include specification of the following:

(1) The types of civilian service that may be performed in order for a person to satisfy the person’s national service obligation under this title.

(2) Standards for satisfactory performance of civilian service and of penalties for failure to perform civilian service satisfactorily.

(3) The manner in which persons shall be selected for induction under this title, including the manner in which those selected will be notified of such selection.

(4) All other administrative matters in connection with the induction of persons under this title and the registration, examination, and classification of such persons.

(5) A means to determine questions or claims with respect to inclusion for, or exemption or deferment from induction under this title, including questions of conscientious objection.

(6) Standards for compensation and benefits for persons performing their national service obligation under this title through civilian service.

(7) Such other matters as the President determines necessary to carry out this title.

(c) Use of Prior Act- To the extent determined appropriate by the President, the President may use for purposes of this title the procedures provided in the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 451 et seq.), including procedures for registration, selection, and induction.

SEC. 106. EXAMINATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF PERSONS.

(a) Examination- Every person subject to induction under this title shall, before induction, be physically and mentally examined and shall be classified as to fitness to perform national service.

(b) Different Classification Standards- The President may apply different classification standards for fitness for military service and fitness for civilian service.

SEC. 107. DEFERMENTS AND POSTPONEMENTS.

(a) High School Students- A person who is pursuing a standard course of study, on a full-time basis, in a secondary school or similar institution of learning shall be entitled to have induction under this title postponed until the person–

(1) obtains a high school diploma;

(2) ceases to pursue satisfactorily such course of study; or

(3) attains the age of 20.

(b) Hardship and Disability- Deferments from national service under this title may be made for–

(1) extreme hardship; or

(2) physical or mental disability.

(c) Training Capacity- The President may postpone or suspend the induction of persons for military service under this title as necessary to limit the number of persons receiving basic military training and education to the maximum number that can be adequately trained.

(d) Termination- No deferment or postponement of induction under this title shall continue after the cause of such deferment or postponement ceases.

SEC. 108. INDUCTION EXEMPTIONS.

(a) Qualifications- No person may be inducted for military service under this title unless the person is acceptable to the Secretary concerned for training and meets the same health and physical qualifications applicable under section 505 of title 10, United States Code, to persons seeking original enlistment in a regular component of the Armed Forces.

(b) Other Military Service- No person shall be liable for induction under this title who–

(1) is serving, or has served honorably for at least six months, in any component of the uniformed services on active duty; or

(2) is or becomes a cadet or midshipman at the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, a midshipman of a Navy accredited State maritime academy, a member of the Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, or the naval aviation college program, so long as that person satisfactorily continues in and completes at least two years training therein.

SEC. 109. CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION.

(a) Claims as Conscientious Objector- Nothing in this title shall be construed to require a person to be subject to combatant training and service in the uniformed services, if that person, by reason of sincerely held moral, ethical, or religious beliefs, is conscientiously opposed to participation in war in any form.

(b) Alternative Noncombatant or Civilian Service- A person who claims exemption from combatant training and service under subsection (a) and whose claim is sustained by the local board shall–

(1) be assigned to noncombatant service (as defined by the President), if the person is inducted into the uniformed services; or

(2) be ordered by the local board, if found to be conscientiously opposed to participation in such noncombatant service, to perform national civilian service for the period specified in section 104(a) and subject to such regulations as the President may prescribe.

SEC. 110. DISCHARGE FOLLOWING NATIONAL SERVICE.

(a) Discharge- Upon completion or termination of the obligation to perform national service under this title, a person shall be discharged from the uniformed services or from civilian service, as the case may be, and shall not be subject to any further service under this title.

(b) Coordination With Other Authorities- Nothing in this section shall limit or prohibit the call to active service in the uniformed services of any person who is a member of a regular or reserve component of the uniformed services.

TITLE II–AMENDMENTS TO MILITARY SELECTIVE SERVICE ACT

SEC. 201. REGISTRATION OF FEMALES.

(a) Registration Required- Section 3(a) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. 453(a)) is amended–

(1) by striking ‘male’ both places it appears;

(2) by inserting ‘or herself’ after ‘himself’; and

(3) by striking ‘he’ and inserting ‘the person’.

(b) Conforming Amendment- Section 16(a) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 466(a)) is amended by striking ‘men’ and inserting ‘persons’.

SEC. 202. REGISTRATION AND INDUCTION AUTHORITY.

(a) Registration- Section 4 of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 454) is amended by inserting after subsection (g) the following new subsection:

‘(h) This section does not apply with respect to the induction of persons into the Armed Forces pursuant to the Universal National Service Act.’.

(b) Induction- Section 17(c) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 467(c)) is amended by striking ‘now or hereafter’ and all that follows through the period at the end and inserting ‘inducted pursuant to the Universal National Service Act.’.

False Flag Watch, Military Exercise in D.C., North Korea Threatens Nukes

NORAD announced it is holding a two day exercise over Washington, D.C. next week while North Korea threatens nuclear weapons.  

The above video features Alex Jones on False Flag Operations and Obama’s stance at the nuclear security summit and his Nuclear Posture Review assertion that terrorists will get hold of nuclear material and use it in an attack.

In a measure to prevent attacks we have military exercises from sea to shining sea, here and abroad.

“The North American Aerospace Defense Command and its geographical component, the Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR), will conduct a two-day exercise, Falcon Virgo 10-10, beginning Tuesday in the National Capital Region, Washington, D.C.  

The exercise is comprised of a series of training flights held in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Capital Region Command Center, the Joint Air Defense Operations Center, Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard and CONR’s Eastern Air Defense Sector.  Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s flights are scheduled to take place between midnight and 2 a.m.  

Exercise Falcon Virgo is designed to hone NORAD’s intercept and identification operations as well as procedural tests of the NCR Visual Warning System. Civil Air Patrol aircraft and Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopters will participate in the exercise….”   

It seems all this practice has kept the U.S. safe.  Since Sept. 11, 2001, CONR fighters have responded to more than 3,000 possible air threats in the United States and have flown more than 57,000 sorties with the support of Airborne Warning and Control System and air-to-air-refueling aircraft.  

NORAD has responded to more than 900 possible air threats, and ran 6,000 sorties since July 2009.   

That’s pretty impressive!  Thank you to our armed forces.   

Alas, there is this little tiny hole in my tinfoil hat that makes me wonder if when these exercises occur, does the U.S. intellegence departments know some disaster or threat may be imminent?  How many of the 900 possible air threats has the main stream media covered?  How many are classified?

On the other side of the world, North Korea’s Kim Jong-il has promised “retaliatory sacred war” in response to U.S. and South Korea’s naval exercise, Operation Invisible Spirit, that began on Sunday in The Sea of Japan.   

Over the next four days 8,000 American and South Korean troops, 200 fixed-wing aircraft and 20 ships will test the countries’ combat readiness against a backdrop of rising tensions and a flurry of belligerent statements from Pyongyang…  

“The army and people of the [North] will legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises,” the commission said in a statement carried by the country’s official Korean Central News Agency.  http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/japan/100725/north-korea-u.s.-military  

North Korea is threatening to use nuclear weapons and we have a large portion of ships and troops not in U.S. territory to protect us.  Does the timing of Exercise Falcon Virgo that is designed to, ” hone NORAD’s intercept and identification,” seem coincidental?  

Who knows if North Korea even has a weapon of mass destruction to reach the US.  It would appear though, they could reach the U.S. forces in the Sea of Japan. Lest you forget, there are 28,500 American troops stationed in South Korea that could be targets.  Recall previous launches here https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2009/10/12/north-korea-fires-missiles-happy-columbus-day/ .  

Exercises happen all the time, most without incident.  We asked in 2009 if a NORAD exercise would preclude a disaster in Chicago in this article.  https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/norad-red-flag-exercise-targets-chicago/  Nothing was reported in the news.  All was well for everyone except Blago, and a few more Chicago cronies.  Mission accomplished.  

Earlier this week, U.S. secretary of state, Hillary Clinton accompanied by the U.S. defense secretary, Robert Gates, were in South Korea.  They urged North Korea to end its “campaign of provocative, dangerous behavior.”  

The Response?  

We reiterate, North Korea’s Central News Agency quoted the statement from the National Defense Commission as saying that the military exercises are “undisguised challenge” to the international community’s hopes to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. It also said North Korea will “legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the South Korean puppet forces.” http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/39879/

We pray this is just a test, a test of the emergency system and not a Red Flag Warning that escalates into war. 

Just what is President Obama doing about any of this? After his morning roundup of briefings today, he’s off to Edison, New Jersey at the Tastee Sub Shop for a meet ‘n greet with small business owners.  Later in the day a DNC fundraiser at the Four Seasons Hotel, NYC and another at some one’s private residence. http://www.whitehouse.gov/schedule/president 

As for the dates of the NORAD drill over D.C., “No events have been entered for this day,” for the President or the Vice President.

Will they be conveniently out of town for the NORAD drill?

Voted Obama? Embarrassed Yet?

Internet Censorship is coming your way.

How embarrassing that this country elected President Obama.  I don’t care for the white part of him or the black part.  Throw the race card right out the window.  I do find it admirable that voters can see past a persons color, and disgraceful that they couldn’t see what Joe The Plumber warned of the socialistic tendencies coming down the pike.  I don’t mean those stupid Recovery Signs down the Turnpike either.

Will Ahrcanum and similar web sites now be black listed by Google and the government new Internet police for saying I disagree with the President?  Should I fire myself for expressing my opinion? Does that constitute an Internet Crime?  http://www.cyberlawenforcement.org/

From day one, President Obama’s campaign was an orchestrated masterful manipulation of the press and continues to this day, as the Administration seems to be working towards an all out government run media including the Internet.  Transparency my ass.

The right to free speech, the communication of ideas and opinions has its history in numerous documents. John Locke established the individual as the unit of value and the bearer of rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness. It is supposed to be the role of  Government to protect these rights, not take them away.  The First Amendment to the Constitution states,  “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”.

You have to take your chances on the repercussions of having free speech though.  Can’t be yelling “Fire” in a theatre and common decency kind of things.  Helen Thomas broke protocol when sharing her personal views that the Jews in Israel should go home.  In response, she was forced into retirement as a columnist for the Hearst News Service. http://religionclause.blogspot.com/2010/06/helen-thomas-dean-of-white-house-press.html. 

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a former black ops leader and commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan couldn’t keep his opinion to himself either.  Even prior to the Rolling Stone article put the end to his career, [sic, previous] “remarks earned him a smackdown from the president himself, who summoned the general to a terse private meeting aboard Air Force One. McChrystal may have been unimpressed with the commander-in-chief from the start, but the General worked for him. Not always smart to disrespect the boss.  The President on the other hand, is supposed to work for you and I and defend the Constitution, not against us or it.

Obama Avoids FBI File Records Yet Again, This Time in Blagojevich Trial

President Obama remains unscathed by the legal system has sworn to uphold, yet again.  Whether Obama has played by the rules in his career certainly remains suspect.

Putting aside all the legal wrangling and avoidance of showing an actual birth certificate to put an end to all the birther questions; this time the Chicago Judge in the Blagojevich trial has denied a defense request to gain access to the FBI report summarizing then President-Elect Obama’s 2008 interview with federal investigators.

Defense lawyers argued in a filing last week that the government minimized Obama’s knowledge of the then-Governor’s attempts to horsetrade for the Senate seat appointment. They said that testimony by government witness John Harris contradicted that portrayal by federal prosecutors.

But there is much more about Alexi Giannoulias that is of interest to anyone following Chicago corruption.

“The close association of Obama with a man who seems clearly to be involved in some shady deals with convicted criminals is yet another example of questionable judgment at best and typical dirty Chicago politics at worst. I wonder if Giannoulias will turn out to be the next in Obama’s never-ending series of “He’s not the man I knew”.”

It’s a letter with your name on it in big capital letters, PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA.

It’s postmarked June 16, 2010, and was mailed from Richmond, Va., with a 44-cent stamp. And, it’s printed in soy ink on recycled paper, so it’s eco-friendly.

But the fascinating part is whom the letter from PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA is addressed to:

Tony Rezko.

Yes, that Tony Rezko.

I’m not joking. This is a real letter.

Remember Tony? The “That’s not the Tony Rezko I knew” Tony? Your personal real estate fairy who helped you buy that dream house in Kenwood? The Tony of your “boneheaded” move? Yeah, that guy.

Your letter was sent to one of Rezko’s old business addresses in Chicago, and I got to take a look at it. I promised not to reveal the address if we could take a picture of it.

Mr. President, the first thing I thought was, “What would Barack want us to do with this letter?”

And the second thing I thought of was that I’d better write about it before Rahm sends the “Men in Black” to stun me with a ray gun that erases all memory.

Federal Law prohibits opening someone else’s mail.  What’s in the letter?  And why now in the midst of the Blago trial would Obama choose to correspond with Rezko?  Will Kas open the letter and take the consequences in the interest of freedom of the press?

Then there is the U.S Government Mole,  Bernard Barton, Jr. who in In 2000, moved to Chicago, changed his name to John Thomas and went undercover for the U.S. Attorney in Chicago in some sort of a deal to avoid jail time for federal business fraud relating to real estate investment.

Avoiding disclosure of FBI records and most other records, is nothing new to the Obama family.

In response to a Freedom of Information Act request, the FBI has formally acknowledged a file existed on President Barack Obama’s grandfather, Stanley Armour Dunham, that was destroyed May 1, 1997. Media Blackout- Airspace Over Gulf Oil Spill Closed, What’s to Hide

GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL AND AFFECTED COASTLINE CLOSED

The media blackout continues.  The airspace over the coastal waters around the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill have been closed by the FAA. 

Pursuant to 14 CFR section 91.137(a)(1) temporary flight restrictions are in effect for deepwater horizon/mississippi canyon (mc252) incident cleanup and reconstitution operations…All aircraft operations are prohibited except those flights authorized by ATC, routine flights supporting offshore oil operations; federal, state, local and military flight operations supporting oil spill recovery and reconstitution efforts; and air medical and law enforcement operations. http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_0_5100.html 

The closing of airspace does occur from time to time for everything from a military air show, to the arrival of a VIP.  Other recent airspace closures can be found at http://tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html.  Most recently, much of Europe airspace was closed and blamed on the often invisible ash cloud from the Iceland Volcano.  We saw airspace closed in the entire U.S. immediately after the events of 9-11.

So why close the airspace over an oil spill? 

We know the oil spill is huge, and we know that BP and the AirForce is spraying COREXIT, the dispersant.  The release says, “For additional information on air operations within the deepwater horizon TFR see website: https://1afnorth.Region1.Ang.Af.Mil/deepwater_spill/default.Aspx This link is a military site that offers no public access.  So much for taking a little plane ride over the area.

While we no longer have Posse Comitatus anymore with active U.S. Military Troops on U.S. soil, we now have BP hiring private security contractors to protect the oil spill, cleanup efforts and keep onlookers away.

Even Anderson Cooper of CNN,  was warned by FEDERAL WILDLIFE OFFICIALS to avoid doing a bird clean up interview and when pursuing images of the clean up area, was denied access by a NATIONAL GUARD Troops. 
 
 
Now we have the National Guard, The FAA, and private contractors all denying access.  Who and what authorizes BP, and a mercenary security firm like Talon Security to have the right to provide security in the Gulf in the first place?  Should privatized corporate law enforcement be a surprise.

On May 5th, 2010, “Taylor flew over the spill in a Coast Guard plane on Saturday and said it was “not as bad” in an interview with a Biloxi TV station. Chocolate milk does not require the coast guard, AirForce, private security personnel and closed airspace.  Relying only on BP data is BS.  BP appears to have control over Nat’l Incident Mngt Systems data.

What this means to the non-GIS layperson:

1) The current configuration and process allow BP to limit or slow down the flow of information about the extent of the disaster to the government, the public and law enforcement, which I believe is against the spirit and letter of NIMS*.

2) The current process allows BP to treat GIS datasets as proprietary information. It is my understanding that public agencies, like The US Fish and Wildlife Service and The Louisiana National Guard, are literally submitting the only copy of agency field data directly to a BP GIS server behind the corporate firewall. Examples of these data are; dead bird and fish locations with photos, boom deployment and engineered construction, dates, along with other descriptive information and photos.

3) The GIS information is essential to the recovery of public resources, and some data belongs to US taxpayers, not BP. BP is paying for the hardware and collection of these GIS datasets, yet it is my understanding that the data belong to the people of the United States. BP must not be allowed to protect these data as if they were a proprietary product.

4) State Emergency Operation Center staff, Parish EOC staff, and other Emergency Responders and Recovery Specialists do not have access to these GIS datasets, contrary to all NIMS guidance, protocols and principles. The effort to slow down the flow of information is at the expense of the containment and cleanup effort of the responders and is in our opinion, suspect behavior by BP.

5) The Federal On Scene Coordinator at ICP Houma, US Coast Guard Captain Ed Stanton, standing with USCG Rear Admiral James Watson, approved the National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant design, and ordered the first database and server. That server was received by BP, and placed behind the BP firewall.

Mexico Border Terror Alert, Fix The Fence, Stop The Oil Leak

As Arizona’s immigration policy does what the federal government won’t, The Department of Homeland Security has now declared a Terror Alert along the Mexico U.S. border.

It is akin to an all points bulletin and searching for a needle in a haystack.  While your looking for terrorists would you mind stopping a few of those Mexican illegal immigrants who are still flocking to border states like Arizona and Texas. Obama and other elected officials have publicly admitted to not reading the bill, yet cry wolf and ignore the problems.

An administration official confirmed to Fox News that Obama plans to deploy the National Guard troops as needed.  Mr. President, with all due respect, “as needed” would be right the frig now.  Sending some 1,200 troops is a flea on a camel’s ass- insignificant.

Pinal County sheriff’s Lt. Tamatha Villar says the deputy suffered a superficial wound to his abdomen after being shot with an AK-47 assault rifle Friday afternoon.

The Modular Aerial Spray System on Air Force Reserve Command C-130 aircraft

These planes are being loaded with dispersants to quell the oil spill in the Gulf.  Obama is scheduled to visit New Orleans on Friday, but his handlers may alter his plans due to the area being, ” hazardous to his health.”

The U.S. Coast Guard has pulled commercial fishing boats from oil cleanup efforts in Breton Sound off the Louisiana coast after several people became ill.  The Coast Guard says crew members on three vessels reported nausea, dizziness, headaches and chest pains Wednesday afternoon. Four people were hospitalized, including one who was flown to a hospital.

The Coast Guard told all 125 commercial vessels that were helping clean up spilled oil to return to shore. National Guard Not Going For Immigration Border Patrol

The National Guard is headed for the Mexican U.S. border.http://www.nationalguard.com/  President Obama in his infinite wisdom or, from reading the Nation’s leading poll’s supporting Arizona’s immigration law( http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll ) is sending troops.  It is not so obvious that it is for immigration control, as the Mexican Embassy point out that troops will be on guard against the illegal flows of weapons and bulk cash into Mexico, which provide organized crime with its firepower and its ability to corrupt.

Additionally, the Government of Mexico expects that National Guard personnel will strengthen US operations in the fight against transnational organized crime that operates on both sides of our common border and that it will not, in accordance to its legal obligations, conduct activities directly linked to the enforcement of immigration laws.

Mexico is determined to continue working on its side of the border to enhance the security and well-being of border communities, and to deter and dismantle organized crime and its links to drug trafficking and human smuggling.

As part of our joint strategy in the fight against transnational organized crime, there are actions that our two governments have undertaken together, and there are other measures taken independently by Mexico and by the US within their respective territories. In this regard, the Mexican Government fully respects the sovereign decisions of the US Government, but underscores that joint responsibility must continue to underpin our joint efforts in rolling-back transnational organized crime operating on both sides of the border.

As the commander-in-chief, I believe he is supposed to be in charge of the Nation’s Military, not states National Guard troops.  Others are of the same opinion:

“There is no modern precedent for Congress to direct the president to deploy troops in the manner sought by the Amendment,” National Security Adviser James Jones and Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan wrote to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.)

USARNORTH conducts Homeland Defense and Civil Support operations, and Theater Security Cooperation activities, as the U.S. Northern Command Joint Force Land Component Command and the Army Service Component Command in order to protect the American people and their way of life.

We have U.S. Servicemen and women on active duty on U.S. soil in violation of Posse Comitatus. If we are breaking protocol anyway, why not get it over with and send the military to secure the border with Mexico? “…to protect the American people and their way of life!”

Our borders are being overwhelmed by Mexican people crossing into the greatest country on earth, illegally.  We are fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  North Korea and South Korea are playing a deadly game of tit for tat, and China’ aggression towards the U.S. has been pretty clear while it remains our largest debt holder.  Oil is spilling by thousand’s of gallons every day.

BP Tells EPA to Shove It in Gulf Oil Spill Cleanup

The Deepwater Horizon Spill in the Gulf Coast has become a cluster cluck.  President Obama, a month after the leak started has decided that we now need a special commission headed by Ken Salazar, while Lisa P. The oil continues to flow, although BP is allegedly siphoning off some of the oil underground.   BP claims 5,000 gallons per day since April 13 and finally a month later on May 20, it has been decided that the federal government will come up with its own determination of how much oil is gushing in the Gulf.  Perhaps it should take its own water samples too.

The EPA gave BP it’s okay to use chemical dispersants in an effort to corral and degrade some of the oil last week.  By Thursday, the EPA issued a directive for BP to stop using the controversial Corexit dispersal chemical within 24 hours.   https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2010/05/21/dispersants-epa-stops–  

BP’s response was a pungent reminder of who is in charge, and it most certainly is not the EPA or and branch of the government.  BP issued a terse reply, saying it would continue to use the controversial chemical Corexit despite the directive.  BP officials believe that the leading alternative product, Sea Brat could pose a bigger risk over the long term.

Democratic strategist James Carville and MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews, two reliable supporters of President Barack Obama, have issued withering critiques of the administration’s handling of the Gulf oil spill.  Carville, the famously outspoken Louisianian who was a chief political aide to Bill and Hillary Clinton, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday that the administration’s response to the spill has been “lackadaisical” and that Obama was “naive” to trust BP to manage the massive clean-up effort. Oversight by Federal Agencies- how laughable. Really, what’s one more law or promise broken by the government?

BP chief Tony Hayward told the Associated Foreign Press, “everything we can see at the moment suggests that the overall environmental impact will be very, very modest.”

By comparison, the death count of sea critters so far seems small.  With nearly 20% of the Gulf closed to fishing, a fish kill would most likely never be documented in the open waters, only what is witnessed on shore.
It doesn’t just take a cold snap or an oil spill to close beaches.  How about a birds nest?   A shorebird called a tern laid a single egg in Cape Hatteras National Seashore.  The result:

One little egg is going to devastate tourism in parts of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Maybe the state can ask for a bailout like every other whiny piss-ant governor.  Florida has asked BP for $35 million dollars for tourism advertising.  So help me if BP pays one dime for an ad, I am going to flip my lid.   How dare Florida, who’s beaches so far haven’t been impacted, ask in the first place?

EPA Halts Dispersants at Deepwater Oil Spill

The Deepwater Horizon Oil spill or leak as BP calls it, is a disaster of epic proportion.  The response by the EPA is equally to blame in the approval of two chemical dispersants by BP, and it’s reliance soley on BP to clean it up and provide water samples.

Saturday May 15, 2010-“Based on the scientific analysis of the EPA and NOAA and review by the National Response Team, it has been determined that the use of dispersants at the subsea source is the prudent and responsible action to take along with other tactics including surface dispersant, skimming and controlled burns.” http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/doc/2931/551271/

We warned in this post, https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2010/05/16/deepwater-horizon-oil-spill-response/ that the use of chemical dispersants, is not without it’s own hazards.  BP asked, and got approval from the EPA to use COREXIT, manufactured by Nalco Company, Illinois. http://www.nalco.com/

COREXIT products clearly state that they are not to be used on surface water and are toxic to wildlife. And that, “It is unknown if dispersed oil has toxic implications to the human population because bioaccumulation through the food chain has not been evaluated.”  http://www.epa.gov/bpspill/dispersants.html#q3 

It was not prudent and responsible to approve these particular products, and now in a reverse course, EPA is revoking its decision.

The Environmental Protection Agency informed BP officials late Wednesday that the company has 24 hours to choose a less-toxic form of chemical dispersants to break up its oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, according to government sources familiar with the decision, and must apply the new form of dispersants within 72 hours of submitting the list of alternatives.

The move is significant, because it suggests federal officials are now concerned that the unprecedented use of chemical dispersants could pose a significant threat to the Gulf of Mexico’s marine life. May 20, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) –Nalco (NYSE:NLC) today issued the following statement:We are gratified that the EPA has acknowledged that the use of Nalco’s dispersants has been effective and has had no undue impact on the marine environment.  As the agency noted on its website today: “Toxicity data does not indicate any significant affects on aquatic life. Moreover, decreased size of the oil droplets is a good indication that, so far, the dispersant is effective.”

The results can be found at http://www.epa.gov/bpspill/ .  To date, approximately 600,000 gallons of dispersant has been used on the surface and approximately 55,000 gallons of dispersant has been used subsurface, at the source of the spill. 

Do you smell something fishy?

Nalco claims the products are working just fine with no hazards, yet the EPA is revoking the use of COREXIT?  Yep.  It boils down to the fact that the government is not happy with BP.  In a Letter From Secretary Napolitano and EPA Administrator Jackson to BP CEO Tony Hayward (PDF) they all but accuse BP of adulterating water samples to justify that COREXIT and the sucking up gadget is having a positive effect of the spill.

It is your constitutional right to bear arms.  It is also your choice to own a gun, but the battle in some states legislatures gives more people the opportunity than others.  Idiots like Joseph Sean McVey sure don’t help the cause any.

In Chicago you can’t have a weapon in your home to defend yourself.  How stupid is that?  The Supreme Court is going to let us know as they debate the case.  In contrast, in Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer has signed legislation allowing residents to carry concealed weapons without a permit. http://thestatecolumn.com/articles/04_22/california_arizona_oklahoma_pass_gun_laws_8394.php

Washington D.C. The Obama Administration has signed laws allowing guns in national parks, and we know the President himself  is well protected by gun toting security. 

North Carolina has a permitting system that requires training and criminal background checks, Ohio also has a waiting period and a background check requirement.  Over the weekend-

 

A 23-year-old Ohio man carrying a handgun was arrested near the runway as President Obama was leaving Asheville, NC.  Joseph Sean McVey pulled his car by the gate and was listening to a police scanner,  just as Air Force One was taxiing.  The officer and Secret Service agents asked for McVey’s identification and when they ran his driver’s license number through a computer it did not come back as valid, according to the case summary.

When the officer asked what he was doing, McVey stated “he heard the president was in town. He stated he wanted to see the president,” according to a case summaryhttp://www.alan.com/

He heard the President was in town, but not his town?

His car was equipped with clear LED law enforcement-style strobe lights in the front and rear dash, Smith said. The car also had a mounted digital camera in the front window, four large antennas on the trunk lid, and under the steering wheel was a working siren box. Smith said McVey was not in law enforcement.

When McVey got out of the car, he was listening to a handheld scanner and radio that had a remote earpiece, Smith said. Police said he was monitoring local agencies and had formulas for rifle scopes on a note in his cup holder. On policelink.monster.com, McVey wrote that his hobbies include “shooting, fishing, hunting, piano, trumpet (and) voice.”

McVey, a resident of Coshocton, Ohio, graduated from West Liberty University in July 2009, according to a website he created listing himself as a sound engineer. The school has about 2,600 students and is located about an hour southwest of Pittsburgh.

He majored in music technology, according to his Myspace profile, which also lists him as a HAM radio operator with the call sign K8JSM. According to a post by McVey on qrz.com, a HAM radio-oriented website, he goes by his middle name, Sean.

On Sunday, an Asheville airport police officer noticed large antennas on McVey’s vehicle as he sat near an airport runway.

“Generally my antennas sit at the bottom of the rear windshield, on the front lip of my trunk, and this provides for some directionality towards the front of the vehicle,” McVey wrote on qrz.com. “This enables me to help increase signal strength when necessary.”

McVey’s sites indicate he may be a member of SKYWARN, a National Weather Service program that calls on citizens to report severe weather.

On Friday, he posted two “tweets” from Limestone, N.C., on his Twitter account. Limestone is a small town about 25 minutes south of Asheville.

McVey posted three tweets additional tweets before he was arrested, the last, which he posted on Saturday, citing a CNN warning of tornado watches in multiple states.http://twitter.com/jseanmcvey

His Xanga profile page, last updated in 2006, lists his birthday as April 16, 1987.

In 2007, McVey posted a blog on his Myspace profile that said he got a job working “as IntelliTarget Marketing. (Verifying addresses on magazine subscriptions and, soon, political ‘advertising’ for the One Million Republicans, a new Republican group postered by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay).”

Other blogs describe girl troubles and his frustrations surrounding his efforts to become a good pianist. He hasn’t posted a new blog since 2008.

His Facebook page, which the Citizen-Times had limited access to, lists him as a fan of Asheville and, separately, as a fan of downtown Asheville.

On his YouTube account, McVey has favorited more than 100 videos, including multiple law enforcement-related videos and one that allegedly shows U.S. soldiers accidentally killing civilians in Iraq.
