Archive for November, 2012

Haven’t had a Hostess cupcake for years. Kids usually get to them before any of us adults do, but not today. Fat and stuffed like a turkey, we threw no caution to the ingredient wind.

One last taste of childhood. Mmmm, consistently the same taste and texture as the cupcake packed in a first graders lunch, long ago. Would have loved a Twinkie too, but all sold out.

Even if Hostess sells, it will never taste the same.

Thanks for the memories Hostess.

Snow coming down in a light flutter. Rather graceful- November 23, 2012 and ready for bed. Figured we’d take a few screen grabs to send to grandma in Florida. Low and behold, just some weird odd shit snowflakes in pix. Really? Maybe just the way the camera on the iPhone caught the snowflakes. Never seen longish flakes b4. Your take on it?

The US Embassy in Cairo is educating Egyptian students on how to go to America to study.

“Don’t forget our Twitter chat from 5-6PM today on studying in the US! You can start asking questions now, mark them with #StudyUSA”

We call BULLSHIT.

Were the political climate different, sure Egyptians would be welcome, but it isn’t. And before anyone calls us racist we are not. It is the fact that Egypt’s theocracy is mostly against freedom. It’s ‘elected’ officials loath freedom of speech and like many denounce what is of course, a very stupid anti-Muslim movie.

Officials held numerous Americans hostage –

Quote :
Egyptian authorities are barring several U.S. citizens — including Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s son — from leaving the country after Egyptian government forces raided the offices of Washington-backed groups monitoring recent parliamentary elections there.

Held for nearly a month!

“CAIRO – Seven American rights workers are on a plane out of Egypt after the U.S. paid nearly $5 million in bail costs to secure their freedom.
Egyptian officials said the U.S. paid $300,000 each for 16 Americans, nine of whom were already out of the country.”

What was it Bush said? We don’t negotiate with terrorists. Apparently The Obama administration does.

In May, CAIRO (AP) — Muslim mobs set two Cairo churches on fire overnight during sectarian clashes that left 12 dead and more than 200 injured. The deepening religious violence in military-ruled Egypt exacerbated an already chaotic and lawless transition to democracy.

Not nice at all.

So the argument will be to allow Egyptians to study in the USA in order to experience democracy and the freedoms America holds so dear. Students would go back to Egypt to build a better Egypt.

Maybe. It seems to us that there are plenty better ways. There are already plenty of US educated Egyptians in Egypt.

(CNN) – The first leader in Egypt’s history to win a democratic election is a study in contrasts: a strict Islamist educated in southern California…Morsi leads the Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood. Muslim Brotherhood Wins election

“The Obama administration is close to finalizing a massive $1-billion bailout for the increasingly totalitarian Muslim Brotherhood regime ruling over Egypt, according to U.S. government officials cited in news reports. The move is already drawing fierce criticism from opponents arguing that bailing out the new Islamist ruler, who is already working to bolster Egyptian ties with the communist Chinese dictatorship while becoming increasingly despotic at home, would be a mistake on multiple levels.
In addition to forgiving the $1 billion in Egyptian government debt, almost a third of its total burden, the administration is also working with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) — largely funded by American taxpayers — to secure a $5-billion loan for the regime. On top of that, U.S. officials are in the process of creating multiple funds and programs worth almost $500 million to help politically connected U.S. and Egyptian businesses.

All of that taxpayer money — presumably to be printed by the Federal Reserve or borrowed from the communist Chinese dictatorship — would be in addition to the regular “security” and “foreign aid” packages. The long-standing U.S. government assistance to Egypt’s rulers, set to continue indefinitely, has amounted to around $1.5 billion annually for the past several decades under the deposed dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak.”

Obama gives a billion to Muslim Brotherhood

It’s just a snafu. Situation Normal All Fucked Up.

No, sorry students, we wish you well. Go study at the American University in Cairo if it is still even open. “Student protesters at Egypt’s American University in Cairo (AUC) have torn down the American flag at the campus on Thursday as part of their continued protest of university policies….As the flag came down, students standing by chanted “the university is Egyptian and not American” and “be proud, you are Egyptian.”

USA Flag felled again

Is the American flag back up at the Cairo USEmbassy? It flew the Taliban flag on September 11, 2012.

Should students come here, understand that you will not live in fear. You will live in a mostly free society. You can wear a burka or not. Go to any number of mosques or church. For that matter you don’t have to go at all. You will love the variety of food. Women drive here. We have interfaith and interracial marriage. Gays can get married too. Oh, and you will see American flags hanging everywhere.

America embraces all cultures. That’s who we are. Just don’t think it right for the embassy to be working in this manner at this particular time.

Rant done.

You can’t make this up. General Petraeus resigns as CIA director over an affair with Paula Broadwell. Broadwell wrote a book on him called,”All In.” Married 37 years, he may face charges in the Military Code of Justice.

One may recall a President Clinton lying through his teeth, “I did not have sex with that woman.” He kept his job while getting blow jobs, but only a demotion in America’s eyes.

Post resignation, the General may not testify in the Libya death of Ambassador Stevens aka Benghazigate. He personally said the blame was on the movie.

No, no conspiracies there.

Who is accountable? Where is America’s Security? Clinton wants out. A probable Supreme Court nominee, as husband Bill Clinton supported Obama on the campaign. Geithner leaving, Rahm bailed, and we wish he’d take FEMA heads with him. NJ, NYC, OBX a mess post Sandy. Hard to believe a gas ration and tent cities in USA.

Oh that’s right, coal still on the Obama hit list while 500k still no power. They’ve managed to runabout of poles. Fliping telephone Poles!

No CIA head, looking for a treasury head, a new secretary of state, no budget, no pressers from Obama in 8 months or so. Meanwhile China, Russia and others clapping hands while Obama crying before being re-elected.

Don’t blame us, we voted for the other guy.

No longer a rumor, the US Navy will dispatch 3 helicopter carrier ships to the shores of New York and New Jersey, USS Wasp, USS Carter Hall and USS Mesa Verde.

Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Navy’s chief spokesman, wrote in a blog post Wednesday that the ships have not been officially been asked to provide support. That decision would be made by U.S. Northern Command in support of FEMA efforts. Navy shows up

Active duty troops on US Soil! Posse Comitatus gives the military search, seizure, arrest, powers and must be authorized by Congress and over seen by The Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta. No declaration has happened that we know of.

The are just here to help.

Here’s a recap of the military role in Katrina. Meet the Military in Katrina

The National Defense Authorization Act, signed by Pres Bush FY 2008, under 18 U.S.C. 983 does eliminates Posse Comitatus in a nuclear emergency. Say like at Oyster Creek- Nine Mule Point northwest of Syracuse, Indian Creek 25 miles north of NYC, the Salem Plant on the Delaware River NJ, the Millstone Plant in Waterford CN, Vermont Yankee south of Battleboro VT, and others that reported problems or reduced operations. Now we’re no nuclear power experts, but if 2 million people don’t have power, where is all the electricity going?

Sandy sure made a heck of a mess of things.

According to Michael Moore people need help, like now!

20121101-122110.jpg

According to Obama, no one will get left behind. Just ask the four dead in Benghazi, Libya.

34 dead in NY. So far, and here comes another rainstorm.

To top it off, NYC is planning to hold the NYC Marathon on Sunday. Really? Really.

Stay safe friends.
