Voted Obama? Embarrassed Yet?

Internet Censorship is coming your way.

How embarrassing that this country elected President Obama.  I don’t care for the white part of him or the black part.  Throw the race card right out the window.  I do find it admirable that voters can see past a persons color, and disgraceful that they couldn’t see what Joe The Plumber warned of the socialistic tendencies coming down the pike.  I don’t mean those stupid Recovery Signs down the Turnpike either.

Will Ahrcanum and similar web sites now be black listed by Google and the government new Internet police for saying I disagree with the President?  Should I fire myself for expressing my opinion? Does that constitute an Internet Crime?  http://www.cyberlawenforcement.org/

From day one, President Obama’s campaign was an orchestrated masterful manipulation of the press and continues to this day, as the Administration seems to be working towards an all out government run media including the Internet.  Transparency my ass.

The right to free speech, the communication of ideas and opinions has its history in numerous documents. John Locke established the individual as the unit of value and the bearer of rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness. It is supposed to be the role of  Government to protect these rights, not take them away.  The First Amendment to the Constitution states,  “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”.

You have to take your chances on the repercussions of having free speech though.  Can’t be yelling “Fire” in a theatre and common decency kind of things.  Helen Thomas broke protocol when sharing her personal views that the Jews in Israel should go home.  In response, she was forced into retirement as a columnist for the Hearst News Service. http://religionclause.blogspot.com/2010/06/helen-thomas-dean-of-white-house-press.html

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a former black ops leader and commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan couldn’t keep his opinion to himself either.  Even prior to the Rolling Stone article put the end to his career, [sic, previous] “remarks earned him a smackdown from the president himself, who summoned the general to a terse private meeting aboard Air Force One. The message to McChrystal seemed clear: Shut the fuck up, and keep a lower profile.” http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/17390/119236

McChrystal may have been unimpressed with the commander-in-chief from the start, but the General worked for him. Not always smart to disrespect the boss.  The President on the other hand, is supposed to work for you and I and defend the Constitution, not against us or it.

Fighting homegrown terrorism by monitoring Internet communications is a civil liberties trade-off the U.S. government must make to beef up national security, the nation’s homeland security chief said Friday.

As terrorists increasingly recruit U.S. citizens, the government needs to constantly balance Americans’ civil rights and privacy with the need to keep people safe, said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/06/18/napolitano-internet-monitoring-needed-fight-homegrown-terrorism/

I buy the nation’s security plea, not the censorship Kool-Aid sale. Not withstanding, I still hate referring to America as The Homeland.   Is there some sort of global conspiracy to limit free speech and on-line discussion?  There are Internet censorship bills in Australia, the U.K., and the U.S. with more to come.  Say nothing of the black holes where there is no Internet at all.

Will America Turn into the Black Hole of The Internet?

By a 3-2 vote, the FCC on June 16 — under the chairmanship of Julius “Caesar” Genachowski — moved the agency toward the power to regulate the transmission component of broadband Internet service. Genachowski — Obama’s Harvard law classmate — thus sets the table for regulating the Internet under rules that were written for the telephone company in the thirties. http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/vernon/100712

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) has received fleeting public attention, yet it has been quietly evolving for a number of years.  On it’s face ACTA is described as a countermeasure directed at the rise of counterfeit goods, medicines and pirated copyright protected material, including “piracy over the Internet”.

If officially ratified, however, ACTA would mark the formation of a major new global legal infrastructure with relation to standards on intellectual property rights enforcement.  It would also see the formation of an international governing body to oversee implementation of the agreement. http://truth11.com/2010/07/12/acta-flagship-of-the-growing-internet-censorship-armada/

Obama Administration regulatory czar Cass Sunstein is on the record in support of the latest in a series of proposals to regulate political speech on the net.

“The site’s of one point of view agree to provide links to sites of the other point of view. So if you’re reading a conservative magazine, they would provide a link to a liberal site. And vice versa, just to make it easy for people to access to competing views. Or maybe a popup on your screen that would show you an advertisement or maybe even a quick argument for a competing view

If we could get voluntary arrangements in that direction, it would be great and if we can’t get voluntary arrangements maybe Congress should hold hearings about mandates.” http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2010/05/obama-czar-cass-sunstein-internet-mandates-spread-the-link-love/

Government mandates for the Internet?  In his book Democracy and the Problem of Free Speech Sunstein says there is a need to reformulate First Amendment law. And recall Sunstein, ” has a secret aim to push a radical animal-rights agenda in the White House. Sunstein supports outlawing sport hunting, giving animals the legal right to file lawsuits, and using government regulations to phase out meat consumption.   http://www.prweb.com/releases/Cass-Sunstein/Animal-Rights/prweb1868134.htm

No steak dinner, no unrestricted Internet?  Pop up ads for a competing point of view? Rewrite the First Amendment?  Where’s Ted Nugent when you need him?

Further challenging first amendment rights is the DISCLOSE Act under the guise of election reform.  http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h5175/show The DISCLOSE Act is a desperate attempt to influence the November elections, and minimize Democrat losses writes http://biggovernment.com/dbossie/2010/07/12/will-senate-democrats-stifle-free-speech/

Discussions, bills and laws like The Fairness Doctrine and Net Neutrality aren’t going away anytime soon.

There is some hope for keeping the First Amendment in tact and further limiting big brother with the Enumerated Powers Act that requires that each bill cite its authority under the Constitution. http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s1319/show The sad thing about this bill is that it takes a bill or legislation to remind our elected officials to do something they should have been doing all along- you know, a little something called upholding the Constitution to which they were elected to and swore an oath to support and defend.

Oh that’s right, the President is after all a Constitutional Lawyer, I think.  I’ve never seen his diploma or birth certificate for that matter but numerous times he has made reference that the Constitution does not address social inequities.

DC Downsizer Michael Mitchell of Alaska compiled this list from Article I of the U.S. Constitution. These are all the powers that the Congress has-

  1. Borrow money
  2. Regulate commerce among the states
  3. Regulate naturalization
  4. Regulate bankruptcies
  5. Coin money
  6. Fix weights and standards
  7. Punish counterfeiters
  8. Establish post offices
  9. Establish post roads
  10. Record patents
  11. Protect copyrights
  12. Create federal courts
  13. Punish pirates
  14. Declare war
  15. Raise an army
  16. Provide a navy
  17. Call up the militia
  18. Organize the militia
  19. Makes laws for Washington, DC
  20. Make rules for the Army and Navy

Mitchell continues, “According to the 10th Amendment, all else is controlled by the states or the people.” https://secure.downsizedc.org/etp/campaigns/87/background

Gee, I don’t see government mandate for health care in there.

In case you’ve forgotten what else The Constitution says, here’s a great link at http://www.upinjustice.com/knowyourrights.htm

Based on Constitutionality or a coming to their senses, Democratic governors are already complaining about the Obama administration’s first lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration enforcement law, Attorney General Eric Holder is already planning a second.  When setting one little pinkie toe on U.S. soil, one of the first things you have is the right to remain silent, thanks to the Constitution.

Perhaps President Obama should revisit his use of free speech by talking about things like the BP Oil Spill which he hasn’t bothered to mention publicly since June 22. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-after-cabinet-meeting  Among today’s duties he will honor the WNBA champion team.  http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/president-obama-honor-wnba-champion-phoenix-mercury-white-house.  By the way we are about to begin war games off the Korean Peninsula.  Comment please?

When it comes to governments restricting the Internet I am reminded of George Carlin’s, “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television”.  Today, I take the opportunity to write:  Shit, Piss, Fuck, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker, and Tits, just because I still can. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words

How’s that for freedom of speech and freedom of religion too? Now I have to go to confession to saying and writing those dirty words.

Updated July 15- The federal appeals court ruled that the FCC agency’s ban on “fleeting expletives” unconstitutional. Great reading at http://reason.com/archives/2010/07/15/the-obsolescence-of-federal-ce/

God Bless America.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement negotiations continue in a few hours as Seoul, Korea plays host to the latest round of talks.  The governments have posted the meeting agenda, which unsurprisingly focuses on the issue of Internet enforcement [UPDATE 11/4: Post on discussions for day two of ACTA talks, including the criminal enforcement provisions].  The United States has drafted the chapter under enormous secrecy, with selected groups granted access under strict non-disclosure agreements and other countries (including Canada) given physical, watermarked copies designed to guard against leaks.http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/4510/125/

WTF?  Wake up, there is no transparency and we are about to be held to a standard that almost prohibits free speech.  As an author, we do our best to provide proper credits for anything we cite as a source.  We would hope that spammers and authentic writers do the same for us, and usually they do for fear of being held accountable in a lawsuit.  Click on the disclosure tab at the top to see how we have tried to cover our a$$.

“On the international front, it provides firm confirmation that the treaty is not a counterfeiting trade, but a copyright treaty.”

“A U.S.-drafted chapter on Internet use would require ISPs to police user-generated content, to cut off Internet access for copyright violators,  and to remove content that is accused of copyright violation without any proof of actual violation. The chapter also completely prohibits DRM workarounds, even for archiving or retrieving one’s own work.” writes http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/copyright_treaty_leaked_trouble_for_isps_and_in.php

In the U.S. you are innocent until proven guilty, but this may usurp everything you have ever learned about properly citing your sources and in the process limit your free speech.  Say nothing of fines and threats of imprisonment.

The leaks suggest that countries who sign up to the U.S promoted plan would have to force ISPs to proactively police copyright on user-generated content, cut off those accused (or face liability), and put “graduated response” clauses in customer contracts. An example of a graduated response is France’s “three strikes and you’re out” law. There, you get two warnings if caught sharing music or movies, then you’re banned for up to two years. http://gizmodo.com/5396757/secret-copyright-treaty-details-leak-isps-worldwide-to-become-copyright-cops

Two years without the Internet?  Tsk, tsk- as if someone who broke copyright law couldn’t walk into an Internet cafe in Paris, Korea, Russia or the middle of butt fcuk Egypt to log on.  Good luck with that enforcement.  $hit, America can’t keep the illegal immigrants out and we are expected to believe in the Internet police?  We still believe in Santa, because if you don’t believe- you don’t receive.

Just how much control does President Obama seek?  Prohibiting free speech further erodes every citizen’s right and enhances government control over yet another aspect of our life.

Best if all- ““The internet chapter of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, a secret copyright treaty whose text Obama’s administration refused to disclose due to ‘national security’ concerns, has leaked. It’s bad.” You can read the original leaked document or the summary. If passed, the internet will never be the same. Thank goodness it’s hidden from public scrutiny for National Security. via http://yro.slashdot.org/story/09/11/04/144240/Secret-Copyright-Treaty-Leaks-Its-Bad-Very-Bad

If and when this thing gets signed, duly note that we have properly credited the excerpted quotes.  Just in case the ping and link from the photo doesn’t work, it is from http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/archives/2006/Jun/ .  We’ll even take it a bit farther in the interest of disclosure- they sell T-shirts with slogans at  http://www.sharingmachine.com/ and would you look at their disclosure-“You may display TFD/MTTS/ND comics on your website, blog, Myspace, Livejournal, etc. as long as you link back to www.toothpastefordinner.com / www.marriedtothesea.com / www.nataliedee.com. The box marked “Cut/paste this HTML code” next to every comic does this for you. ”  We believe we are in full compliance of the laws of the U.S.A. and graciously meet the requests of the site owners.

We’re so broke over the U.S. economic stimulus package there isn’t anything left to sue us over.  Maybe a 5 year old monitor and a keyboard with Swine Flu germs.  We can’t even afford the cool t-shirts from www.toothpastefordinner.com!

The Federal Trade Commission today (10.5.09) announced that it has approved final revisions to the guidance it gives to advertisers on how to keep their endorsement and testimonial ads in line with the FTC Act. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm

Blogs are a blessing and a curse in the world of advocacy. With so many different voices floating around, it’s easy to get caught up in a piece of support that may not be appropriately accurate. writes Who links to me at http://wholinkstome.com/blog/ftc-regulations-on-bloggers/

Blog while you can. BTW, every www.gov site you visit – your own ISP is logged as a permanent record.  This, while the White House can barely keep track of it’s in person visitor logs.

Mathew 24- 6- And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.7- For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes…

The end of the world is not yet, but for those people around the world effected by disasters like tsunami’s, volcanoes, war, famine, etc., and the recent rash of earthquakes in Central Italy, we have to look toward the arguments of predictability and governments role in squelching information and limiting free speech.

“”It is part of the American myth that our major media are objective and unbiased, a mainstay of democracy. We believe, however, that the overwhelmingly dominant corporate media have become merely the voice of an increasingly unilateral and controlled empire, devoted to the indoctrination of the public in the interests of corporate, industrial, military, and ruling powers. ” http://mediafilter.org/caq/

Giampaolo Guiliani is a well respected scientist at The San Grasso Physics lab, in L’Aquila, central Italy.  He did not stand on a street corner wearing a sandwich board, proclaiming the end of the world, dressed like Jesus Christ.  He made a prediction based on his years of seismographic study and an interpretation of radon science that an earthquake was forecast for the Central Italy. The Italian government officials censored him and shut him down for “spreading alarm.”

Rather than relying in his expertise and plausibility, he was admonished by his own government for fear mongering pure and simple.  Fear mongering is just another form of control by governments who believe generally that the populations is stupid, that riots will ensue, and civil unrest will be imminent.   Can a citizen no longer allow people to decide for themselves what is believable?  Many people in the L’Aquila region never heard the warning to make a decision.

In the US, among others- radio personality Alex Jones at http://www.infowars.com/  offers a conspiracy-tinted view containing strong opposition to socialism, communism, and the New World Order with insight and predictability of governments covert intentions and other conspiracy theories.  Art Bell on Coast to Coast Radio offered an outlet for  a mature outlet of discussion.  At its initial peak in popularity, Coast To Coast AM was syndicated on more than 500 radio stations and claimed 15 million listeners nightly.  Current show host George Norry still discusses off-beat topics like the paranormal, occult, UFOs, pseudo scients and conspiracy theories.

In the U.S. we enjoy a pretty open dialog thanks to the Freedom of Speech clause but for how long?  The Fairness Doctrine moving through the Senate will give the government the power to decide what is on terrestrial radio, satellite radio and may go so far as regulating TV programming.  Is it in the name of fairness or fear?

Bilderberg icon, Senator Jay Rockefeller has labeled cyber security as the number one national hazard of attack on the homeland of WV, America or anywhere else.  He said, ” it was it better if we never invented the Internet because it is on the Internet that the DOD gets millions of attacks everyday..they can shut down, electricity, banking and anything we have to offer.”  Way to dis Al Gore!

Apparently, In The New World Order, what better means to eliminate the free exchange of information that to eliminate the Internet in the name of national security?

Daily, we stay connected with our high technology gadgets like ipods, wireless computers, cell phones, hand held blackberry’s, and iphones.  In the bigger picture we a have computerized military with high tech jet fighters, a space program, nuclear subs, missile silos, nuclear bombs, etc.,  Rockefeller expects us to believe that government can’t protect itself on the Internet?

Keeping the computers off line that control vital systems and classified data disconnected from the Internet so no one could hack into it would be a good place to start.  What reason would critical infrastructures like nuclear bombs, power grids or transpiration networks for example need to be on the public Internet in the first place?

Under the guise of  Acta the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, the government would have access to your ipod and laptop computers. Actively being pursued among the G8 nations, the purpose of the Acta agreement is to prevent illegal downloading and ripped copyrighted movies. http://www.bluegrasspundit.com/

Best of all, one person could pull the plug on all Internet communications. “El Presidente can order the disconnection of those networks during a “cybersecurity emergency” or national security emergency if needed,   ” writes http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/06/proposed-bill-would-create-national-cybersecurity-advisor/

Office of the National Cybersecurity Adviser within the White House—is established in a separate short-but-sweet bill running a mere three pages.   The details fall in place in the language of The Cybersecurity Act of 2009  ‘‘our nation’s security and economic prosperity depend on the security, stability, and integrity of communications and information infrastructure that are largely privately-owned.and globally-operated.’’ http://static.arstechnica.com/tech-policy/CYBERSEC5.pdf

Under Obama if the government operates things and controls information we will all be safer!  Whew, I was worried about having health records on line under certified EHR technology-  qualified electronic health record and that is certified pursuant to section 3001. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread437069/pg1

There is also a new industry-run mailing list to foster discussion of security issues on SCADA systems — the aging and insecure computerized control networks behind the electric grid and other critical infrastructures, but you have watch what you say.

“Due to heightened security and awareness levels worldwide, ALL MESSAGES ARE WATCHED CAREFULLY.  Violators who report methods that are going to disable, damage, dismember, destroy, or disarm any control system, SCADA device, or infrastructure will be reported to DHS (and/or their respective national or federal authority).”  http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/02/scada-security.html#previouspost

One can no longer discuss security issues without the risk of arrest?  Does the security of industrial networks and industrial control systems (seguridad scada) offer a deterrent to crime or a threat to restrict freedom of speech, or is it just plain old fear mongering?

The WSJ says “Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, according to current and former national-security officials.”  “There are intrusions, and they are growing.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123914805204099085.html

Are the theatrics of Hollywood movie’s and books providing a warning that disasters imagined, may turn out to be real?  In the new movie Echelon, dangerous security operatives chase the engineer across the globe, while a powerful government official pursues a mysterious agenda that threatens the stability of the entire world. The http://lighthousepatriotjournal.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/hollyweird-fantasy-versus-the-real-world/#more-5184 has an interesting post on the relationships on fantasy movies and government censorship.  Rumors have abounded for several years of a massive system designed to intercept virtually all email and fax traffic in the world and subject it to automated analysis, despite laws in many nations (including this one) barring such activity. The system is called ECHELON!  From a 1997 article in the London Telegraph- “There are times in history when technology helps democratise, and times when it helps centralise. This is a time of centralisation.” http://whatreallyhappened.com/RANCHO/POLITICS/ECHELON/echelon.html  Centralizing or a New World Order?

Today Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said, “We are creating a new world, a balanced world. A new world order, a multi polar world,..The unipolar world has collapsed. The power of the U.S. empire has collapsed,” he said. “Everyday, the new poles of world power are becoming stronger.”

In times of prayer for the people affected by the Central Italian Earthquake, and in celebration of Passover and Easter, look toward the Bible in 2 Peter 3, 13 – “But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.   Peter testified that God will create a new world.

Man or God, someone is bringing The New World Order to reality, and that is no prediction.

Us and Them or Us vs Them?
