NORAD announced it is holding a two day exercise over Washington, D.C. next week while North Korea threatens nuclear weapons.

“The North American Aerospace Defense Command and its geographical component, the Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR), will conduct a two-day exercise, Falcon Virgo 10-10, beginning Tuesday in the National Capital Region, Washington, D.C.
The exercise is comprised of a series of training flights held in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Capital Region Command Center, the Joint Air Defense Operations Center, Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard and CONR’s Eastern Air Defense Sector. Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s flights are scheduled to take place between midnight and 2 a.m.
Exercise Falcon Virgo is designed to hone NORAD’s intercept and identification operations as well as procedural tests of the NCR Visual Warning System. Civil Air Patrol aircraft and Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopters will participate in the exercise….”
It seems all this practice has kept the U.S. safe. Since Sept. 11, 2001, CONR fighters have responded to more than 3,000 possible air threats in the United States and have flown more than 57,000 sorties with the support of Airborne Warning and Control System and air-to-air-refueling aircraft.
NORAD has responded to more than 900 possible air threats, and ran 6,000 sorties since July 2009.
That’s pretty impressive! Thank you to our armed forces.
Alas, there is this little tiny hole in my tinfoil hat that makes me wonder if when these exercises occur, does the U.S. intellegence departments know some disaster or threat may be imminent? How many of the 900 possible air threats has the main stream media covered? How many are classified?

On the other side of the world, North Korea’s Kim Jong-il has promised “retaliatory sacred war” in response to U.S. and South Korea’s naval exercise, Operation Invisible Spirit, that began on Sunday in The Sea of Japan.

North Korea is threatening to use nuclear weapons and we have a large portion of ships and troops not in U.S. territory to protect us. Does the timing of Exercise Falcon Virgo that is designed to, ” hone NORAD’s intercept and identification,” seem coincidental?
Who knows if North Korea even has a weapon of mass destruction to reach the US. It would appear though, they could reach the U.S. forces in the Sea of Japan. Exercises happen all the time, most without incident. Earlier this week, U.S. secretary of state, Hillary Clinton accompanied by the U.S. defense secretary, Robert Gates, were in South Korea. They urged North Korea to end its “campaign of provocative, dangerous behavior.”

We reiterate, North Korea’s Central News Agency quoted the statement from the National Defense Commission as saying that the military exercises are “undisguised challenge” to the international community’s hopes to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. I do find it admirable that voters can see past a persons color, and disgraceful that they couldn’t see what Joe The Plumber warned of the socialistic tendencies coming down the pike. From day one, President Obama’s campaign was an orchestrated masterful manipulation of the press and continues to this day, as the Administration seems to be working towards an all out government run media including the Internet. Transparency my ass.
The right to free speech, the communication of ideas and opinions has its history in numerous documents. John Locke established the individual as the unit of value and the bearer of rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness. It is supposed to be the role of Government to protect these rights, not take them away. The First Amendment to the Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”.
You have to take your chances on the repercussions of having free speech though. Can’t be yelling “Fire” in a theatre and common decency kind of things. Helen Thomas broke protocol when sharing her personal views that the Jews in Israel should go home. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a former black ops leader and commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan couldn’t keep his opinion to himself either. Even prior to the Rolling Stone article put the end to his career, [sic, previous] “remarks earned him a smackdown from the president himself, who summoned the general to a terse private meeting aboard Air Force One. The National Guard is headed for the Mexican U.S. border.http://www.nationalguard.com/ President Obama in his infinite wisdom or, from reading the Nation’s leading poll’s supporting Arizona’s immigration law( http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll ) is sending troops. It is not so obvious that it is for immigration control, as the Mexican Embassy point out that troops will be on guard against the illegal flows of weapons and bulk cash into Mexico, which provide organized crime with its firepower and its ability to corrupt.

As the commander-in-chief, I believe he is supposed to be in charge of the Nation’s Military, not states National Guard troops. Others are of the same opinion:

USARNORTH conducts Homeland Defense and Civil Support operations, and Theater Security Cooperation activities, as the U.S. Northern Command Joint Force Land Component Command and the Army Service Component Command in order to protect the American people and their way of life.
We have U.S. Servicemen and women on active duty on U.S. soil in violation of Posse Comitatus. If we are breaking protocol anyway, why not get it over with and send the military to secure the border with Mexico? “…to protect the American people and their way of life!”

False Flag Alert?
Volcanic Ash is supposedly to blame for grounding a significant portion of Air Travel throughout Europe.
All flights in and out of the UK and several other European countries have been suspended as ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland moves south. Up to 4,000 flights are being cancelled with airspace closed in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark among others.
The UK’s air traffic control service (Nats) said no flights would be allowed in UK airspace until at least 0700 BST on Friday amid fears of engine damage.The airspace restriction was the worst in living memory, a spokesman said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8621407.stm
It is an eerie reminder of 9-11 in the U.S., when all commercial planes were grounded. For now the skies are quiet in most of the U.K., except for maybe a fighter jet or two.

One of the largest NATO military drills is being held today, rather conveniently while volcanic ash is keeping all commercial aircraft on the ground around the U.K. That won’t stop one of the world’s largest military exercises from going forward though.
A large fleet of warships, submarines, frigates and aircraft from 10 NATO countries and one non-NATO member has congregated here to take part in the ‘Brilliant Mariner’ maritime exercise in the Baltic Sea.
The 10-day long multi-nation naval drill began here on April 12, 2010. It will engage the NATO forces to respond to a number of challenges, including asymmetric or terrorist threats, maritime security operations and embargo operations “in a realistic scenario,” a NATO statement said.
The exercise will see participation of 6,500 defence personnel, 31 warships, 28 aircraft and four submarines that will operate in the Northern European waters and airspace.
The French Navy, which is commanding the maritime exercise, has sent 10 of its warships and 30 aircraft.
Its naval fleet includes aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, amphibious warship Mistral, under-attack submarine Emeraude along with other frigates. The aviation fleet includes Mirage fighter aircraft, Hawkeye airborne early warning aircraft and Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft along with other planes.
The countries participating in the huge military drill are Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, USA, France, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom and Sweden. Things are not so quiet in Israel either!
Israel is sending a strong message to Iran, US and the world as it readies itself to undertake military drills to strike Iran’s nuclear sites if it gets green signal in future from its government. Israeli military will prepare itself to launch massive aerial attack to bomb nuclear sites in Iran. The drill also includes civil defense drill to prepare civilians(emphasis mine) for the retaliatory attack from Iran too.
No doubt Israel is making it clear to Iran that in case of any eventuality they can bomb more than dozen nuclear sites and moving convoys in a matter of few days or hours. The on-the-ground preparations, training exercises involving F15 and F16 jets, tankers and helicopters indicate that threat can translate into action.
Israel will need consent from US to carry out such a big operation. Without US intelligence input it would be impossible to get all information about exact locations of nuclear facilities. But by carrying out this drill Israel is showing a kind of preparedness to take on Iran alone. RODRIGUEZ RANGE, South Korea — The U.S. and South Korean militaries on Thursday staged a large live-fire exercise 15 miles south of the Demilitarized Zone, but officials insisted the event was not meant as a warning to North Korea.
“There is not a message we are sending to any particular audience,” said Col. Thomas C. Graves, commander of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team. “The message that comes out of this is the strength of the [U.S.-South Korean] alliance across the board.
“We are doing an integration at the combined arms level — at the tactical level — that probably isn’t seen anywhere else in the world. How the North reacts to this is certainly not something I can predict.”

Testing long and short range missiles does not improve relations, nor signify an intent for peace-making. North Korea has just launched a fourth missile. The ballistic missiles were believed to be Scud-B missiles with a range of 340 km or Rodong rockets, whose 1,300-km range was likely to be shortened to 400 km for the upcoming tests.http://www.prokerala.com/news/articles/a62150.html
Originally it was reported that North Korea test-fired a third short-range missile on Thursday, a South Korean defense ministry spokesman said. The spokesman said the missile was launched around 7:50 p.m. (1050 GMT) but gave no further details. According to the Brussels-based International Crisis Group ICG, it “argues that the true danger lies with shorter-range weapons, some of which are mobile and therefore difficult to detect. They include variants of the Scud, which could strike South Korea, and the Nodong which could reach much of Japan. Pyongyang also has a short-range tactical weapon called the Toksa or Viper, which is highly accurate up to 120km. Does the Obama Administration have necessary intelligence to keep our country safe from attack?

If North Korea was pissed that Defense Secretary Robert Gates ordered the deployment of a ground-based, mobile missile intercept system and radar system to Hawaii before the ICBM launch, imagine what they are thinking now? North Korea has repeatedly fired short and long range missiles, detonated nuclear bombs, threatened to nuke it’s neighbors, announces it’s going to launch a missile aimed for Hawaii and believes we should not defend ourselves. That America is launching a pre-emptive strike? By launching missiles from Vandenberg, is America the one’s providing the pre-emptive strike? Kudos to Obama or has he lost his marbles? Both Obama and Barney Frank continue to seek a reduction in military spending while we fight: the war on drugs, the war on terror, the war in Afghanistan, the war on immigration, the war for socialism, etc..
Our military budget is not so defunct that our government couldn’t provide about 40 tons of weapons and ammunition to Somalia’s embattled government in the past six weeks to help it fight Islamist insurgents(Reuters). Whew, finally summer has arrived and we survived the horrendous winter weather. The kids are off school and we are sleeping in a bit and planning for a few summer holidays. We are not leaving U.S. Soil- the greatest place on earth, even with all its faults. Hawaii is out with North Korea threatening a missile attack near Independence Day. California? Nah, besides sitting on a major earthquake fault line, is too liberal for me. MTV has been broadcasting all about Cancun, but we’ve been there and done that and I see no reason to support a government that can not manage to report influenza cases in a timely manner. ” Bahamas, Bermuda, Come on Pretty Mama”…The Beach Boys. Suggestions welcomed on where to go.
Our holiday is still up for discussion as the economy just sucks and I have been tortured into hearing more about alleged pedophile Michael Jackson than necessary.
Flipping to the net, I see Ben Bernanke the Fed Chair is feeling a bit challenged over Ron Paul’s Transparency Act that would allow an audit of the Fed. Oh boo hoo, where did our nine trillion dollars go, why doesn’t anyone know and most importantly, what is there to hide?
Wherever and whenever we go, if we go at all- like many Americans we go to the bank and take out what I call ‘play money’. You know, money to play with- to buy the things we don’t really need but really want- like a Summer Vacation- preferably at the unpolluted, jelly fish free beaches.
What if the banks go on holiday? I am cognizant of the FDR bank holiday. 1000’s of banks never reopened in a face saving measure. How many of our banks have no value, burdened by debt and bad mortgages? How many banks are now owned by the U.S. Government? How would I get to my safe deposit box if the bank was out of business? Would it’s meager contents have any value anyways?
The hissy fit regulators are having near seizures over opening their books to public scrutiny, and once again I have to adjust antennae to tune in to exactly what the hell is going on and if bank closures could happen.
A bank holiday would certainly push the dollar’s value lower adding more rational to BRICs plan of adopting other IMF baskets of currencies. Gold, already at a high premium would most likely increase, especially with the U.S. Mint announcing that there is a shortage of gold to produce certain coins. The mint will continue to issue Presidential Coins and, “In God We Trust” will appear on the face of the coin starting in 2009. http://www.usmint.gov/mint%5Fprograms/%241coin/ Surely all that glitters is not gold. A Bank Holiday might just suit the needs of the U.S. economy according to some. The rumor mill is that U.S Embassies are buying local currency. Some embassies are being sent enormous amounts of U.S. cash to purchase currencies from those governments, quietly. But not pound sterling. Inside the State Dept., there is a sense of sadness and foreboding that ‘something’ is about to happen … within 180 days, but could be 120-150 days.”
One commentator at put it like this: If true, the reason is this. Our Embassies all over the world employ millions of local nationals. Day to day operating costs are staggering, from food purchasing to fuel purchasing to utilities to meeting the local payroll. Local currency pays for all those expenses. When the USD crashes, local currencies may not be able to be purchased with USD’s. Even in a slow-mo devaluation, trying to buy enough local currency for day to day operation will be very very expensive. President Obama is attempting to federalize the police and Department of Defense across the US with his civilian workforce. If the shit hits the fan, banks go on holiday by September,civil unrest and Martial Law occurs between the money and the flu, the government will be all ready to take care of us. cough, cough.
