The O tactics are shoving socialism right down America’s throat, and I for one am choking.

“Top executives at firms receiving extra-ordinary help from U.S. Taxpayers will have their compensation capped at $500,000.  A fraction of the salaries that have been reported recently”, said Obama.

Say goodbye to capitalism.  In trying to improve everyone’s life, our new government under Mr. O will dictate how much money you can make. The government prints the money, is turning our banks toward national ownership and is taking another step toward socialism by limiting earnings.

Obama’s team is giving away too many pieces of the pie.  Obama’s foremost adviser, his wife Michelle, said, “Most Americans don’t want much. Folks don’t want the whole pie.  Most Americans feel blessed to thrive a little bit. But that’s out of reach for them…someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so someone else can have more,”  transcribed from Glenn Beck at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgc4zm3XrBc

It is more than just a redistribution of pie.  Wake the frig up- where has Mrs. Obama been to say that we feel blessed to thrive just a little bit?  Why go to work if your earning potential is limited and you have to feed everyone else while you do the work?

Not only do I want all of my pie President & Mrs. Obama, but I want my cake and I want to eat it too.  I want to eat my pie on my terms, every last stinking crumb seeing as it was my hard earned paycheck that I alone earned to buy the pie in the first place.  I cashed it, I got the taxes taken out and I have the right to keep it all to myself; that is my prerogative.  Democracy is supposed to give me the right to share my pie, not require me.

In other news the stimulus bill which will take away more slices of my pie is making progress in the Senate.  “The bill is quite the cross between an over-decorated Christmas tree and an over-stuffed sausage, but that is to be expected.” http://finaxyz.blogspot.com/2009/02/stimulus-bill-progressing-through.html .

Forget dessert, pass the meatloaf.

Tenacious is Phil Berg.  Whatever one’s opinion of Berg, he is still at the doors of The Supreme Court looking for answers regarding President Obama’s natural born citizenship issues which remain unresolved to some, even after the inauguration.
As Obama can attest to-if at first you don’t succeed, try again in the statement of The Oath of Office, Berg keeps trying again and again at The Supreme Court to find out the truth in Obama’s genealogy that would prove or disprove his eligibility to hold the Office of Presidency.
Perhaps it is just protocol or maybe the merits of the case will be considered prior to their being a judgment made, but The Free Republic http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2177262/posts  posting from PACER shows-02/02/2009 Open Document CLERK ORDER referring the Response of Appellant to Appellee Federal Election Committee’s Motion for Summary Affirmance to the merits panel, filed. Berg’s case is still alive-barely.

If all other actions fall through, apparently Philip Berg  plans on filing a Petition for Writ of Quo Warranto (be sure to read the linked wikipedia article)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quo_warranto], challenging qualifications for President.

Props to the Right Side of Life who keeps track of all the legal filings regarding Obama’s citizenship.  http://www.therightsideoflife.com/?page_id=1518 and here http://www.therightsideoflife.com/?p=3371

Tenacious indeed, Mr. Berg.

Russia is putting it’s foot down and it isn’t in a gentle way.

” Kyrgyzstan’s president said Tuesday his country is ending U.S. use of an air base key to military operations in Afghanistan- a decision with potentially grave consequences for U.S. efforts to put down surging Taliban and al-Qaida violence.

A U.S. military official in Afghanistan called President Kurmanbek Bakiyev’s statement “political positioning” and denied the U.S. presence at the Manas air base would end anytime soon.   The United States is preparing to deploy an additional 15,000 troops in Afghanistan and Manas is an important stopover for U.S. material and personnel.

Ending U.S. access would be a significant victory for Moscow in its efforts to squeeze the United States out of Central Asia, home to substantial oil and gas reserves and seen by Russia as part of its strategic sphere of influence.” From AP http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_RUSSIA_KYRGYZSTAN_US_BASE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2009-02-03-12-49-12

Well isn’t that just special?  The Russians come, play war games and poke at us with Cuba and Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, right off the U.S. coastline, and now want to end American presence at a key base just as we are about to increase troop presence.  Such timing.

Just this weekend (Feb 1,09)Near the Pakistan/ Afghan border lies the Swat Valley, where the Taliban and Al Qaeda have traditionally had their strongholds.  17 people were killed in fighting  and the military recently vowed to reinvigorate its efforts where Taliban fighters have set up their own courts, destroyed scores of girls’ schools and reportedly driven out hundreds of thousands of residents.  Swat is less than 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,486388,00.html

Yesterday (Feb 2, 09)  Gunmen kidnapped an American U.N. worker and killed his driver in southwestern Pakistan on Monday, underscoring the security threat in a country wracked by al-Qaida violence and rising criminality.  http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2009/02/gunmen_kidnap_american_un_official_in_pakistan.php John Solecki, the head of the U.N. refugee office in the city of Quetta was abducted as he traveled to work.

Vice President Joe Biden says the nation should expect more U.S. military casualties.  Pentagon officials say they plan to send up to 30,000 additional troops to the Afghan war, where the Taliban is resurgent and violence has been on the rise.

Biden said Sunday that additional U.S. forces will be engaging the enemy more. Asked if that means the U.S. public should expect more American casualties, the vice president said: “I hate to say it, but yes, I think there will be. There will be an uptick.”   From CBS’ “Face the Nation.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/25/biden-on-afghanistan-expe_n_160689.html

An uptick?  Frig your uptick- everyone of those numbers has a name Mr. Biden and no matter one’s opinion of GWB, he never referred to any soldier so insignificantly as being an uptick.  With that said…

The United States set up the Manas base in Kyrgyzstan and a base in neighboring Uzbekistan after the September 2001 terror attacks, to back operations in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan expelled U.S. troops from the base on its territory in 2005 in a dispute over human rights issues, leaving Manas as the only U.S. military facility in the region.

Russia has long been suspicious of the U.S. presence in what it considers its strategic backyard and agreed Tuesday to provide Kyrgyzstan with $2 billion in loans plus another $150 million in financial aid.

Russia also uses a military airbase at Kant, Kyrgyzstan.

The United States currently pumps a total of $150 million into Kyrgyzstan’s economy annually, including $63 million in rent for Manas, Petraeus said last month. http://wire.antiwar.com/2009/02/03/kyrgyzstan-closing-us-base-key-to-afghan-conflict/

No one in the Obama administration has referred to the term, “the war on terror,”  yet the effort to stop terror continues, rightfully so -but at the cost of an uptick of human life.  http://icasualties.org/oef/ and here http://www.unknownnews.net/casualties.html .

It becomes difficult to absorb the fact that we can not, “Get” the bad guys when Google Earth http://earth.google.com/ has released it’s next generation technology that pretty much enables anyone to see a fly on a camel’s ass- anywhere, any time.

French officer Maj. Pierre-Henri Bunel said, “The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive the ‘TV watcher’ to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US and the lobbyists for the US war on terrorism are only interested in making money.”

Ain’t that a kick in the ass if he is telling the truth?

I miss old Dean Martin.

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings D- FL, http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=SourceWatch  has introduced H.R. 645 also know as the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act.

H.R. 645  http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h645/text , calls for the Director of Homeland to Security to make available no less than 6 national emergency centers for the purpose of placing citizens on military bases.  It even divides the country up into zones for our convenience,  and will include 2 state-of-the art command and control centers that will comprise a 24/7 operations watch centers.

One wonders if  HR 645 is a guise for the rumors of detention facilities already in place? http://current.com/items/89123596/fema_buys_500_000_plastic_coffins_stored_outside_atlanta.htm  Here another theory-http://www.atlanteanconspiracy.com/2008/07/fema-concentration-camps.html

Is this just one way to legalize the construction of FEMA camps on military installations using the excuse that the facilities are for the purposes of a national emergency? “Bankruptcies, unemployment and social unrest are spreading more widely in China than officially reported, according to independent research that paints an ominous picture for the world economy.   http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/economics/article5627687.ece   Having so much faith in our Main Stream Media,  is this kind of legislation in preparation for  unrest and martial law in America?

Look, we know all about the problems of an unexpected stay in the Super Dome or in FEMA trailers, but military bases are where orders are followed and there is no just leaving when you feel like it.  If you can not leave, the name game changes from an Emergency Shelter to a Detention Camp.

The military has guns, you will not. Local residents in Germany claimed they weren’t aware of the camps during WWII that were right under their noses, and many of the Jews, dissidents, and others had no idea where those trains were taking them.  Which Fema militarized zone would you go to or be sent to? http://www.fema.gov/about/regions/index.shtm   Hop aboard, we’ll take care of you.  Don’t sit by Rush Limbaugh, I hear he gets train sick.

Document showing who The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force considers terrorists
Are you on this list?  http://www.uaff.us/fbijointterrorismtaskforce.htm

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF)  attempts to identify criminal activities with domestic terrorists.  Do you defend the Constitution above the United Nations?  Do you identify yourself as a Christian?  Do you try to police the police?  Did someone id you as a threat and could you be a target for being a perceived threat or detained?

The ACLU has been investigating and calling public attention to activities at  JTTF that they feel pose a threat to civil liberties believing that it has been gathering information and building files on the activities of peaceful protesters who have no connection to terrorism or any other criminal activity.  http://www.aclu-co.org/spyfiles/fbifiles.htm  The Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) maintains the U.S. government’s consolidated Terrorist Watchlist—a single database of identifying information about those known or reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activity.  http://www.fbi.gov/terrorinfo/counterrorism/tsc.htm   Would these Emergency Centers used to house suspected terrorists who could be held without charges or legal representations  The Military has its own court and certainly there are existing laws to hold suspects without charges as in Gitmo.

What if there is no giant emergency or declaration of emergency, even though VP Biden thinks there will be?  Throughly devastating floods, earthquakes and hurricanes like Katrina prayerfully don’t happen too often.  Thanks to GWB, we have seen no terror like 9-11 on our soil since.  Seeing as Obama is cutting 10% of the military budget I can not see spending one dime to prepare for something that may never be needed.  We already have prisons.

H.R. 645 was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and in addition to the Committee on Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Maybe Denny’s is trying to place nice now that we have a black president.  Back in the 90’s there was a lot of bad publicity and claims of racist business practices.  All that is behind them apparently as Denny’s is offering a free breakfast tomorrow to make nice nice.

The Denny’s Grand Slam free breakfast offer, aired during the Super Bowl and includes pancakes, bacon, eggs and sausage.  It is only available for free on February 3, and only between 6am and 2pm and only at certain Denny’s.

The commercial can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5ckPe4Bpaw.  Over all, I’d say thumbs down of the commercial and I not quite sure what the reasoning is behind offering a Grand Slam, the term which is usually used in reference to baseball or tennis, not football.  Yeah I know the Grand Slam is the name of their biggest selling menu item so why not offer free coffee instead and keep the revenue to pay for the million plus dollar ad.

I saw Universal Studios is giving away 100,000 free tickets to its amusement park.  Budweiser is not giving away anything, but maybe they should. Bud is a dud and so were the ads.  It tastes like crap and being a rice based beer, pretty much gives everyone that drinks it the hangover they deserve for drinking it.  $27 million dollars in ads- ugggh.

I wonder what kind of beer the soldiers got in Iraq this Super Bowl?

“The beer started flowing an hour before kickoff, with each soldier allowed to drink two 12 oz. brews from their choice of six brands. The soldiers had been granted a one-time exception to a strict military ban on drinking alcohol in combat zones.”The Guinness went within minutes. It didn’t stand a chance,” http://www.buffalonews.com/nationalworld/international/story/566923.html

For the most creative beer ad label ever, take a look at Nude Beer.  The bottle came with a sticker on it that after peeling it, shows boobs.  That’s what I am talking about in getting me to buy a product.  http://www.beerlabels.com/labels/labels.pl/4760/nude-beer.html  shows the label 5000 or so other ones.  It sure beats the hell out of the Queer Beer. http://www.beerlabels.com/labels/labels.pl/1895/brew-q-pale-ale-side-1.html

http://www.gunaxin.com/ has a whole review of the entertaining side of the ads from the game and this feature with Dennis Leary summing up the making of shitty beer, “So months go by, of course, right? Now I’m eating pretzels and I’m thirsty. I go and open the refrigerator, I see a beer out of the corner of my eye. I grab it, I open it up SLUUURP! PHBBBBBT! Cran..berry ale. Cranberry nut crunch fucking ale! Let me tell you something, folks. Cranberries and beer do NOT go together, okay? One’s for bladder infections, one’s for getting drunk! I take a look at the label of my beer; you know what’s on my beer label? Santa Claus is on my beer label. I swear to God! Why don’t you put the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy on there, too. Call it ‘Pussy Ale’ while you’re at it, go ahead.”

Really, ya got to love Denny’s. Where else can you go to get chicken or a grand slam at 3 in the morning while you are drunk off your ass, even if it is from Bud?  No matter if you are in idiot, shit faced, stoned or whatever, as long as you’ve got money, you got food and tomorrow assuming you’ve got manners, during the morning hours- breakfast is on Denny’s.

Hard to complain about free food.

BTW, draft beer not soldiers.

PS-  Louis Glunz Beer Inc., a Lincolnwood distributor, sent over 4,000 bottles of Schlitz beer to troops in Iraq. The free suds, along with 2,000 pizzas from Lou Malnati’s, were packed up Friday and flown overseas courtesy of DHL, an international express mail service.

Maybe Denny’s ought to send the soldiers a free breakfast next time.

Today- February 1, 2009 is Human Day.  “Renri”, literally “Human Day” in Mandarin, is the seventh day of Chinese New Year and Chinese believe that it was the day when human beings were created. If the weather on Renri is fine, it can be forecast that God will grant good luck to all people on earth. Fireworks can also be lit, so Renri celebrates the birthday of fire as well.

Certainly there will be fireworks tonight in Tampa for the Super Bowl and the weather is expected to be clear and warm for the event.  The other thing making an appearance at the Super Bowl, will be prostitution.  Real men don’t pay for sex, but there are plenty who do.  The really sad thing is the amount of human traffucking- er, trafficking that occurs around large sporting events.

The majority of young male and female victims of sexual exploitation tend to be runaway or thrown away youth.   Some are recruited into prostitution by forced abduction, pressure from parents or through agreements between parents and traffickers. Controlled commercial sexual exploitation is linked to escort and massage services, private dancing, drinking, photographic clubs, conventions, cultural events, tourist destinations and sadly, major sporting events like the Super Bowl.  One-fifth of child prostitutes become entangled in nationally organized crime networks and are trafficked nationally to solicit their services.  http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/ceos/prostitution.html

How does one advertise such a service?  Is it like standing out on the corner where someone yells, “Get laid here,” rather than, “Get your programs here?”  Ads on the Internet are one way Tampa police say they found out about numerous prostitutes coming to town during Super Bowl XLIII. “The reason we know that is we see a gigantic uptick in Internet activity,” Tampa Police Chief Bret Bartlett said.  http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Tampa-police-plan-to-battle-Super-Bowl-week/3dGS8MxnO0iwXBCeNQCwmg.cspx

Human trafficking is nothing less than slavery which forces millions of people around the world into labor or sexual servitude.  Following illegal drug and arms dealings, it is estimated to be the the third largest illegal industry.

Poverty, ignorance, superstition, social customs, greed, government corruption, and human cruelty combine to put families — particularly women and children — at risk. Too often traffickers are known to their victims as family members or neighbors.  Some had received an advance payment against their birth.   The images are often horrific and some can be seen here,   http://www.gtipphotos.state.gov/gtip.cfm?galleryID=563&id=1 .  Props to http://armybarmyremix.blogspot.com/ who keeps tabs on the buying and selling of people.
The U.S. Department of State’s,  Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP), provides the tools to combat trafficking in persons and assists in the coordination of anti-trafficking efforts both worldwide and domestically.  http://www.state.gov/g/tip/.  Maybe the Obama administration will put as much effort to take steps forward in combating global slavery as on, combating the fallacy of man made global warming and a green agenda to create jobs.

Ticket Solutions http://www.ticketsolutions.com/tickets.aspx?eventid=736731 is offering a 50 yard line seat for $3490 for the game.  I wonder what it costs for a boy, girl, or woman prostitute?  Certainly cheaper, but the cost of this societal sin is much higher.
Does the Super Bowl culture sexual depravity, in and of itself?  NBC banned a racy PETA ad from this Sunday’s Super Bowl.  PETA  made 5 ads, not just 1 and all 5 ads are posted at  http://www.ickypeople.com/2009/01/watch-all-5-banned-peta-vegetarian-sex.html.
Sex may sell, but buying sex is just wrong on so many levels.  The reality that human beings continue to be bought and sold in the twenty-first century is an abomination, and so is paying $3490 for a ticket to the Super Bowl.

Holy shit.  When you can’t read the text on your own blog because it is too small,  it is time to make some changes.

I already own bifocals but I keep forgetting where I put them.  Here is the updated version of Ahrcanum, with an different format and thankfully larger, black text.

As for my double vision, it has occurred to me I can I can increase my financial bottom line during these times of doom on Wall Street simply by folding my money in half.

If the inventor of bifocals Benjamen Franklin would have thought of this, he’d have never made it on a $100 bill.  I wonder how many $100 bills will be printed under the Obama Administration because the theory in printing money is that it equals liquidity.  LOL. ROFL. ROFLMAO.   http://hnn.us/articles/60041.html

Shazam.  Here comes the Change, as promised.

Back in December of 2008, Joe Biden in an exclusive interview airing on “This Week” Sunday,  Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he is going to chair a “middle-class task force” that will determine how the Obama administration’s policies are affecting America’s economic midsection.   http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/story?id=6502378

” The things that affect people’s daily lives. I will be the guy honchoing that policy,” he said. Today, Jan 30,2009 President Obama made it all come true,  announcing the appointment that will keep a finger on the pulse of the middle class.  Which finger he is going to use remains up for debate.

Thank you President Obama for not calling VP Joe Biden, the Middle Class Czar.

“There is a great divide in this country between the rich and the middle class. The affluent have their social lives, their mansions, their millions and their prosperous friends. The wealthy prance around like they are better than the rest of us. The wealthy have connections that get them what they need. We see the rich using their connections to receive at no cost, what the rest of America has to buy with their own hard earned dollars.”  http://www.newsflavor.com/Opinions/Obama-The-Middle-Classs-Grand-Illusion.118981

At The White House, the most powerful of  parties for both the Democrat and Republican leaders was held by Obama where dinner included Wagyu steaks, to the tune of $130 a pound. http://angam.blogspot.com/2009/01/did-you-hear-about-obamas-cocktail.html.

Wouldn’t everyone in the middle class want to eat antibiotic free Wagyu Steak instead of the usual 70/30, beefy Meatloaf or Salisbury Steak from the local IGA?  If the Obama/Pelosi Democratic reform train works, I’ll be one of the first Republicans to place my order for The Wagyu Sampler Package, $829 plus shipping at http://www.lobels.com/store/main/item.asp?item=66

The party was given after the House passed the president’s ONE BILLION DOLLAR stimulus package with absolutely no Republican support.  I can’t wait to see what is served if the damned thing passes the Senate.

Keeping in line with the Obama team’s pledge of full transparency, the task force will issue annual reports that will be available on line to the public.  I trust they will also issue a full report of what kind of food is being served, and how much it costs to feed the Middle Class Task Force Committee at every meeting.

Note that none of the people mentioned for the Middle Class Committee are middle class.  Reported by CNN, the team will include: the secretaries of labor, health and human services, and commerce, as well as the directors of the National Economic Council, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Domestic Policy Counsel, and the chair of the Council of Economic Advisor’s.  Surely all these people have their pulse on the middle class of the nation, don’t they?

While the elite enjoy the delicate flavor of Wagyu, the rest of America checks its peanut butter for salmonella and Pop Tarts for mercury poisoning and HFCS; they are all talking about pork and pork spending.

Reading between the lines of my first and third finger, I’d say the middle class is getting the middle finger.

To keep up with a middle class report card that is not part of a government entity, visit http://themiddleclass.org/.

Dammit anyways, I am always hungry.  I am a small human mammal that consumes easily 4000 calories per day and luckily I burn it off without gaining weight.  It is important to eat healthy, if for no other reason than to balance out any input of booze and cigarettes.

Sometimes we eat organic, sometimes we eat Big Mac’s from McDonald’s- assuming for the most part our food is safe.  WRONGO.  First peanut butter and now this!

The FDA has known about cancer causing melamine in our foods for four years and never said a word.  The problem is that no level of mercury is considered safe for consumption especially for kids.  It seems melamine is some sort of a byproduct in the production of High Fructose Corn Syrup which is in a ton of our food products especially those marketed to kids.

How did the heavy metal get in there? “In making HFCS — that “natural” sweetener, as the Corn Refiners Association likes to call it — caustic soda is one ingredient used to separate corn starch from the corn kernel. Apparently most caustic soda for years has been produced in industrial chlorine (chlor-alkali) plants, where it can be contaminated with mercury that it passes on to the HFCS, and then to consumers.” From an Institute for Agriculture Trade Policy study released 01/23/09   http://www.iatp.org/iatp/press.cfm?refID=105025

The study,” detected mercury in nearly one-third of 55 popular brand name food and beverage products where HFCS is the first or second highest labeled ingredient—including products by Quaker, Hershey’s, Kraft and Smucker’s.”

Among the lists of foods in question  http://www.iatp.org/iatp/publications.cfm?accountID=421&refID=105040 and posted in part here http://summertomato.blogspot.com/2009/01/high-fructose-corn-syrup-contaminated.html  is

  • Quaker Oatmeal to Go
  • Coca-Cola Classic
  • Yoplait Strawberry Yogurt
  • Minute Maid Berry Punch
  • Hunt’s Tomato Ketchup
  • Smucker’s Strawberry Jelly
  • NutriGrain Strawberry Cereal Bars
  • Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
  • PopTarts Frosted Blueberry

Looks like our grocery list for feeding the kids.  The Corn Refiners Association (CRA) http://www.hfcsfacts.com/ completely refutes all this as mumbo jumbo http://www.hfcsfacts.com/HFCS-Mercury-Study-Outdated.html and says that “Our industry has used mercury-free versions of the two re-agents mentioned in the study, hydrochloric acid and caustic soda, for several years.”  Whew, that makes me feel a lot better!  I am so very pleased to know that I am drinking hydrochloric acid and caustic soda.

To think, I’d almost forgot about using Pepsi and Coke to remove the rust off of chrome car bumpers when I was a kid.  [Am I old or what?]

First, Coke was laced was cocaine, then Sweet ‘n Low, Nutri-Sweet, then Splenda, etc.  Now Coke and Pepsi are identified by the study as containing Mercury. Soon to be available in some markets the pop will contain Truvia, the hail mary of sweeteners from the Stevia weed.   http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/07/09/stevia/  Further testing for safety for consumers to come.

To prove that mercury is safe for kids, a new study from Italy says that  a mercury-based preservative, thimerosal that once used in many vaccines http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm doesn’t hurt children, offering more reassurance to parents.  http://www.topix.com/us/cdc/2009/01/mercury-vaccine-ok-says-yet-another-study  Whew, I am feeling better and better now!

What a relief!  Matter of fact, I am feeling so good that I am going to run out and get that mercury free flu shot while eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch,  and then start to think about what to eat for dinner.  I think I’ll wash it all down with a Coke, or maybe a Pepsi.

http://www.campbellsoup.com/default.aspx  I’m going for Campbell’s Soup, which so far as I know is currently not under review or recalls and contains no peanut butter products being recalled Peanut Corporation of America’s growing list of food.  http://www.newsday.com/iphone/ny-lisalm0125,0,7690328.story

Mmm good.

Reuters is reporting that the Senate passed a bill on Monday 1/26/09 to delay the nationwide switch to digital TV signals, giving consumers nearly four more months to prepare.  The transition date would move to June 12 from February 17 under the bill that was fueled by worries that viewers are not technically ready for the congressionally-mandated switch-over.

Not technically ready?  You have got to be kidding me, how much money has the FCC spent on those stupid commercials warning of the impending doom of the rabbit ears for TV reception?  How many $40 coupons have been sent and spent?

For years, the feds have been pushing and prodding broadcasters to complete their conversion to digital broadcasting, opening up spectrum space that has been long earmarked for other uses.  What those uses are remains up for debate.

Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless most certainly have plans for the new space and more than likely, it will become easier to the government to track communications -all in the interest of national security.

“The transition from analog to digital television is a historic change and brings with it considerable benefits for the American consumer,” said [sic then] Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez. “Not only will the transition help expand consumer choices, but more importantly, the digital transition will enable more efficient use of the nation’s airwaves providing new advanced wireless services and increased public safety services for all Americans.” http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/03/digital_tv.html

Having had more than FOUR FRIGGING YEARS TO PREPARE, “In a letter to key lawmakers Thursday, Obama transition team co-chair John Podesta said the digital transition needs to be delayed largely because the Commerce Department has run out of money for coupons to subsidize digital TV converter boxes for consumers. People who don’t have cable or satellite service or a TV with a digital tuner will need the converter boxes to keep their older analog sets working.  Obama officials are also concerned the government is not doing enough to help Americans — particularly those in rural, poor or minority communities — prepare for and navigate the transition.”  http://www.kjrh.com/content/programming/hdtv/story/Will-Congress-delay-the-digital-transition/OPlhRwH6JUahec59CPTQ5Q.cspx

“The Obama administration deserves time to bring order to what has been an appallingly mismanaged process by the Bush administration,” Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John D. Rockefeller, D-W. Va., said in a statement.  Oh, give me a break.

Oh, just change the channel or shut the TV off to prevent another Democrat from accepting responsibility for an inept constituent who can’t figure out that you need cable, a satellite dish or a converter box to watch TV.

The lawmakers worry that an estimated 20 million mostly poor, elderly and rural households are not ready for the switch.  Rural? Poor?  My ass.   The whole reason Direct TV started out so successfully in the first place was because it was too damned expensive to run CAT 5 or standard cable to the boondocks of nowhere in the constituency.  Without cable people were forced to to buy Direct TV or another dish service or else see fuzz from the local network and PBS..  We’ve all seen the home trailers in the middle of butt frig Egypt middle America, with the couch on the porch and the damned satellite dish hanging off the side of the trailer.

Go ahead and get me started on GMH- General Motor Hughes stock and Loral Communications two of the great proponents of satellite technology not only for TV transmission but for weapons.  Oh Bill and Hillary- what did you do? What didn’t you do? More important- What are you doing now?

Despite an ongoing FBI investigation into the unauthorized transfer of advanced missile-guidance technology to China, Loral Space  http://www.loral.com/  requested and received Clinton administration approval to sell communications satellites to Beijing in 1996, a secret National Security Council memo obtained by WorldNetDaily shows.

Congressional investigators raised concerns that the satellite technology shared with the Chinese may have allowed them to improve their capability of launching intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear tips aimed at the at the United States.  Hello- aimed at the USA – Loral’s then Chairman  Bernard Schwartz donated more than $1 million to the Democratic National Committee, according to FEC records, and  made contributions to Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the U.S. Senate in New York. That $1 million contribution was the single largest individual donation to the DNC that year. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=20606

Rural folks ain’t stupid and neither are consumers.  Judged by Wal Mart’s recent sales figures and with its  massive buying power and store presence in big cities and rural communities offering flat panel LCD and Plasma televisions that are digital ready, so is the American TV watcher.

When in doubt, if your converter box not quite cutting it for good digital reception- if you’ve got some extra coat hangers laying around then John Park can show you how to make a DTV antenna out of spare coat hangers. Check out the video and the PDF for all the instructions! http://www.tvsnob.com/archives/cat_digital_tv_transition_2009.php

If John Park can do it with a coat hanger, certainly there was no reason to have delayed what has been shoved on us for the past four years.

I want my MTV and I want it in mandated digital- NOW.
