Eye-chiwawa, a strain of flu never seen before has killed up to 60 people in Mexico and 8 in the United States. Reuters reports that the CDC analysis showed the disease is a mixture of swine, human and avian viruses. Mexico’s health minister, José Ángel Córdova, said the virus had mutated from pigs and had at some point been transmitted to humans. At least, he’s pretty sure.
A Mixture? H5N1 does not’t easily infect people, H3N2 viruses do. If someone exposed to a mixture of the two had been simultaneously infected with both strains, he or she could have served as an incubator for a hazardous mixed virus able to transmit easily to and among people. That mixing process, called reassortment, is one of two ways pandemic viruses are created and it looks like Mexico City is ground zero for it’s spread.
In February 2009, American pharmaceutical company Baxter made a mistake of catastrophic proportions. Baxter manufactured and sent The Austrian firm, Avir Green Hills bird flu vaccines that were found to contain a mix of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses and unlabeled H5N1-otherwise known as the human form of Avian Flu.
Avian Flu is one of the most deadly biological weapons on earth with a 60% kill rate. The leading theory on why so many young, healthy people die in pandemics is the “cytokine storm,” in which vigorous immune systems pour out antibodies to attack the new virus. That can inflame lung cells until they leak fluid, which can overwhelm the lungs. Despite the alarm in recent years over the H5N1 avian flu, which is still circulating in China, Indonesia, Egypt and elsewhere, some flu experts argued that it would never cause a pandemic, because no H5 strain ever had. The current crisis is Obama having declassified and released memos detailing the programs used to question al Qaeda suspects. Is water boarding torture, did it violate U.S. and international laws? Contradicting himself, he also said he would not necessarily oppose an effort to pursue a “further accounting” and investigation into the Bush-era interrogation program that included waterboarding, sleep deprivation, forced nudity, shoving people into walls and other methods. Intel and congress knew attacks were imminent. Intel and congress knew exactly what was happening at Guantanamo. Peter J. Goss has the balls to actually admit that the information they got from torture, prevented further plans to destroy and attack America. If acts of mental and physical ability to resist, resulted in saving American lives and halting the spread of terrorism, then so be it and Goss should be looked at as a hero not a scapegoat.
At the very least, if Obama wants to declassify details of the programs, he needs to declassify the findings as well. By all accounts they acted legally within the interpretation of the law. I don’t have to like how they did it, but any future terrorist now knows that torture will not be a part of a deterrent to committing crimes against America.

He furthermore said in a press conference announcing his Memoranda: For a long time now, there’s been too much secrecy in this city. The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That era is now over. Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information but those who seek to make it known.These idiots couldn’t even be bothered to read any of the bailout stimulus plans, let alone find and then release proof of aliens. Obama’s bold initiative for Open Government reflects the influence of the Co-Chair of his Presidential transition team, John Podesta. Podesta has long been an outspoken advocate of Open Government. On September 16, 2008, he gave a speech before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution titled Too Much Secrecy Puts Our Nation at Risk.

Both the school and his mother said Carl Walker-Hoover was a victim of emotional horror. I don’t have the solutions to the terror and despair this child had felt to hang himself, but a moment of silence isn’t the cure and neither is a mandate from Obama to require it.

Coming soon to a school near you – students refusing to speak for a day, and teachers encouraging it! If it sounds too ridiculous to be true, then you don’t know the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network. On April 17th, GLSEN is encouraging middle schoolers and high schoolers to stay silent to bring attention to “anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools.” If it sounds innocuous to you, then you are unfamiliar with the GLSEN’s tactics and curriculum. (See my earlier post about one of their lessons here.) The goal, make no mistake about it, is to silence those who oppose homosexuality on moral grounds.
And, trying to strengthen their clout, activists have proposed Congressional Resolution 92, which would, according to Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, request “that the president issue a proclamation calling on the people of the United States to observe the National Day of Silence with appropriate ceremonies, programs, and activities.” [Author’s emphasis]
Because, you know, the GLBT community is trying to brainwash our kids… Just got this from my dad, who got is from his sister in California. Apparently she’s on their list because of Prop 8.

If your child’s school allows “Day of Silence” propaganda, keep your child at home April 17

Dear Member,
The Day of Silence, which is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), fast approaches. This year it will take place in most public schools on April 17. On this day, thousands of public high schools and increasing numbers of middle schools will allow students to remain silent throughout an entire day-even during instructional time-to promote GLSEN’s socio-political goals and its controversial, unproven, and destructive theories on the nature and morality of homosexuality.
Parents must actively oppose this hijacking of the classroom for political purposes. Please join the national effort to restore to public education a proper understanding of the role of government-subsidized schools. You can help de-politicize the learning environment by calling your child out of school if your child’s school allows students to remain silent during instructional time on the Day of Silence.
Parents should no longer passively countenance the political usurpation of public school classrooms through student silence.
If students will be permitted to remain silent, parents can express their opposition most effectively by calling their children out of school on the Day of Silence and sending letters of explanation to their administrators, their children’s teachers, and all school board members. One reason this is effective is that most school districts lose money for each student absence.
School administrators err when they allow the classroom to be disrupted and politicized by granting students permission to remain silent throughout an entire day.

1. Call your local schools and ask whether they permit students or teachers to remain silent in the classroom on “Day of Silence.” IMPORTANT: Do not ask any administrator, school board member, or teacher if the school sponsors, endorses, or supports DOS. Schools do not technically sponsor the Day of Silence. Technically, it is students, often students in the gay-straight alliance, who sponsor it. Many administrators will tell you that they do not sponsor the DOS when, in fact, they do permit students and sometimes even teachers to remain silent during instructional time. Also ask administrators whether they permit teachers to create lesson plans to accommodate student silence.
2. Find out what date the event is planned for your school. (The national date in 2009 is April 17, but some schools observe DOS on a different date).
3. Inform the school of your intention to keep your children home on that date and explain why. (A sample letter is available.)

With all due respect, thanks anyways. I am all for a conservative agenda but not one that captures data and then probably sell my phone number to someone else to call and pester me for money and donations on my dime. You see in America you have a choice in participating in simple things like texting, but it is becoming a little blurry on who interprets your choice in what you have to say and what is okay for you to believe in. Apparently President Obama, the Department of Homeland Security, and our government is beginning to define lawful political dissent, and what is acceptable.
Yesterday, Roger Hedgecock and the Liberty Papers posted an Office of Intelligence and Analysis report (file here) by the DHS that identifies ‘Right wing Conservatives’ as the major threat to our country’s security.
The nine-page document was sent to police and sheriff’s departments across the United States on April 7 under the headline, “Right wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.” Just in time for the peaceful Tea Party Protests.
From the report “Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election as a recruitment tool. Many Rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use.”
Would that include: questioning Obama’s own citizenship, pro-capitalism vs anti-socialism, going to church, owning a gun and generally any disgruntled Americans who go to a tea party is now a right wing extremist? Conservatives have every right to be pissed that Obama is painting conservatives as radicals. I guess there will be no tea served at the parties tomorrow, only kool aid.
President Barack Obama has “distanced” himself from this report, according to the Washington Times. What? Like neither he or Homeland Security Janet Napolitano aren’t responsible for this report? Ummm- where’s the transparency you promised? We are seeing right through it! Being a conservative is not being a terrorist.

With nano research weight we are not talking housands of tons for the weight of propulsion, but hundreds of grams. We’ve come along way from the squeaky clean image of Doris Day’s portrayal of Nanette Carter set in the Roaring 1920’s movie, Tea for Two.
The Tea Party protests of today far more mimic the sex comedy movie, Pillow Talk back in 1959. It was one of the first movies that portrayed the loosening of morals in middle America. Doris Day might blush over headlines like, Lindsey Lohan distraught over lesbian break up, but we can dispute morals another day. The Tea Party protests are about disastrous politics, capitalism vs socialism, and taxes- pure and simple.
Give me a break. Outside of Washington, Chicago politics is the capital of deceit and manipulation of power. If someone like Steele has something to say, put him on the agenda. What, you going to have Blago? Ayers? It was after all, Rick Santelli’s Chicago Board rant on TV that started the symbolic tea party ideas. He growled loud “enough is enough’ and ‘no more’ uncontrolled big brother government. “We’re thinking of having a Chicago tea party in July, all you capitalists that want to show up to Lake Michigan, I’m gonna start organizing.”
The idea that the Tea Parties should remain non-partisan and rely on grass roots efforts is a bunch of hooey. Grassroots movements may happen on the local level with volunteers in a community giving time and money to support the local party, but it leads to helping the national party in the long run. There are Republican, Democrat and Liberal party members who are pissed. All Americans who pays attention to politics and pay taxes should be pissed. With the April deadline for federal tax returns looming, the only people who likely don’t give a rats ass about a Tea Party are the growing number of Americans who pay zero federal income tax, don’t file at all or don’t give a shit about where the future of America is heading.
When I think of grass roots, I think of ACORN and I am twice as pissed to think that it was this grass roots group that played a significant contribution to the mortgage crisis- in the first place- by finding loans for people who could never pay them back. Local community efforts can barely succeed at registering people to vote, let alone organizing large Tea events with relevant speakers.
Whether a Tea Party is held today, tomorrow or months from now its my guess that the Democrats will be calling foul, Republicans will try to take the credit and the Libs will still be pleading for neutrality. The Tea Parties may have the intention of being non partisan, but it is negligent for the Republican, Dems, and Libs to not take advantage of the platform to peacefully review what is happening to our nation.
Bob Basso portraying Thomas Paine summed it up by asking Americans to stand up against Congress and reclaim their republic now, or maybe lose it forever. “Have you become a nation of cowards,” warning people that if they do nothing else, “buy a gun because your going to need it.”
