tea-for-two-poster

We’ve come along way from the squeaky clean image of Doris Day’s portrayal of Nanette Carter set in the Roaring 1920’s movie, Tea for Two.

The Tea Party protests of today far more mimic the sex comedy movie, Pillow Talk back in 1959.   It was one of the first movies that portrayed the loosening of morals in middle America.  Doris Day might blush over headlines like, Lindsey Lohan distraught over lesbian break up, but we can dispute morals another day.  The Tea Party protests are about disastrous politics, capitalism vs socialism, and taxes- pure and simple.

Eric Odom, Chairman of the nationwide Tea Party rally movement apparently asked RNC Chairman Michael Steele not to be a Speaker at a Chicago rally because it might identify the Tea Parties as “Republican.”  HT- http://libertarianrepublican.blogspot.com/2009/04/msnbc-mid-identifies-libertarian.html

Give me a break.  Outside of Washington, Chicago politics is the capital of deceit and manipulation of power. If someone like Steele has something to say, put him on the agenda.  What, you going to have Blago? Ayers?  It was after all, Rick Santelli’s Chicago Board rant on TV that started the symbolic tea party ideas.  He growled loud “enough is enough’ and ‘no more’ uncontrolled big brother government.  “We’re thinking of having a Chicago tea party in July, all you capitalists that want to show up to Lake Michigan, I’m gonna start organizing.”

The idea that the Tea Parties should remain non-partisan and rely on grass roots efforts is a bunch of hooey.    Grassroots movements may happen on the local level with volunteers in a community giving time and money to support the local party, but it leads to helping the national party in the long run.   There are Republican, Democrat and Liberal party members who are pissed.  All Americans who pays attention to politics and pay taxes should be pissed.  With the April deadline for federal tax returns looming, the only people who likely don’t give a rats ass about a Tea Party are the growing number of Americans who pay zero federal income tax, don’t file at all or don’t give a shit about where the future of America is heading.

When I think of grass roots, I think of ACORN and I am twice as pissed to think that it was this grass roots group that played a significant contribution to the mortgage crisis- in the first place- by finding loans for people who could never pay them back.   Local community efforts can barely succeed at registering people to vote,  let alone organizing large Tea events with relevant speakers.

Whether a Tea Party is held today, tomorrow or months from now its my guess that the Democrats will be calling foul, Republicans will try to take the credit and the Libs will still be pleading for neutrality.  The Tea Parties may have the intention of being non partisan, but it is negligent for the Republican, Dems, and Libs to not take advantage of the platform to peacefully review what is happening to our nation.

Bob Basso portraying Thomas Paine summed it up by asking Americans to stand up against Congress and reclaim their republic now, or maybe lose it forever.  “Have you become a nation of cowards,” warning people that if they do nothing else, “buy a gun because your going to need it.”

“Wake up, America.  While you were playing with the toys of your consumer wealth, you lost much more than your bloated economy of living beyond your means. You lost your representative democracy. Your servants have become your masters.  Taxation without representation is tyranny,” he said.

” These are the times that try men’s souls,”  said Thomas Paine who also coined the phrase, “The United States of America.”

Rich in character and history, Thomas Paine the revolutionary democrat has been brought back to life 200 years after his death in the new video entitled, We The People Stimulus Bill by Dr. Bob Basso.  See it here https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/  Innocuous enough, until the President of  The United States, That One, The One, Barry Baraq  Mohammad Hussein Sottero Dunham Obama, Jr., has a problem with it and summons Dr. Basso to the White House to discuss the disturbing nature of the videos, and tries to do it secretly- in a day and age of self proclaimed transparency in government.

Why would Obama feel threatened by a patriotic message, let alone one delivered in the tone of Thomas Paine?  Could it have to do with his slip in the polls or the amount of Tea Party’s and revolutionary happenings?  The Hartford Courant summed it up nicely saying, “The movement takes its name, and much of its imagery, from American history. Participants — including home-schooling moms, Libertarians and Rush Limbaugh Republicans — compare themselves to the 18th century patriots who dumped tea into Boston Harbor to protest taxation without representation. http://www.courant.com/news/politics/hc-tea-party-politics-0329.artmar29,0,2154911.story?track=rss

The Crisis is a collection of articles written by Thomas Paine during the American Revolutionary War. In 1776, Paine wrote the cornerstone of American democracy, Common Sense arguing for Independence from England. The essays constitute Paine’s ongoing support for an independent and self-governing America through the many severe crises of the Revolutionary War.  http://www.ushistory.org/Paine/crisis/singlehtml.htm  He also wrote the best sellers of his time,  The Rights of Man and The Age of Reason.

Verso, the blog of the UK office of the radical independent publisher, http://versouk.wordpress.com/2009/03/27/revolutionary-paine/#comment-10  reported that the Socialist History Society and the Thomas Paine Society conducted a special meeting  this weekend to mark the 200th anniversary of his death.   Tom Paine’s legacy was examined  in an event at the Conway Hall in Holborn, London.   http://www.socialisthistorysociety.co.uk/paineflyer.pdf for details.

While Britain operates under a parliamentary system, both British and American stories of liberty are intertwined.   Heck, even the famed Beatles hailed from Liverpool, and came to fame with the song Revolution among other famous hits.  The youth today can probably name every Jonas Brother yet have no clue who Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison or Thomas Paine were.

The British Library’s has a super free exhibition called Taking Liberties about the struggle for Britain’s freedoms and rights that uncovers the roots of British democracy over a period of more than 900 years.  It’ s interactive and available on line http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/takingliberties/interactive.html where you are placed right in the center of current debates about vital rights and freedoms in society: detention without charge, the right to privacy, devolved government, free speech and so on.  As you give your answers you can see, on clear and innovative 3D graphics, how your views compare to everyone else’s.  Are you content with things as they are or do you want change? How do you balance order with freedom?

“These rights didn’t simply happen. They were hard won, the product of hundreds of years of debate, struggle, bloodshed and war. Many people died for them: heroes, villains, and some who were both.   Nor are these rights ours forever. They can be changed or removed, and at various times in our history, they have been.”

America may have The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, but here you will find the Magna Carta of 1215 and taking in the death warrant of Charles I, the 1832 Reform Act, the Holloway prison diary of suffragette Olive Wharry, and concluding with the Beveridge Report and the Human Rights Act, this is the definitive story of British liberty told through the printed pages.

What has Obama authored?  Dreams from my Father, The Audacity of Hope and oh yeah, he signed into legislation pork filled stimulus bills that even he, did not bother to read.

Thomas Paine my be dead some 200 years but his legacy lives on.  Obama’s legacy is yet to be determined in the history pages of The New World Order.

Dr. Bob Basso makes the YouTube videos where he dresses up as founding father Thomas Paine, coming back from the past to warn Americans about their country, got a phone call from President Barack Obama summoning him to the White House.

Paine wrote Common Sense in the 1700’s and Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Congress and the Senate would be well served to find a copy and read it more thoroughly than the pork laden, stimulus bill they signed without reading.

Obama is apparently ticked off over Dr. Basso’s videos asking people to send politicians tea bags and do something about what is happening in our country.  Basso’s earlier video, “The Second American Revolution,” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKFKGrmsBDk has 3 million views.  His newest video, posted last week as funbobbasso, “We The People Stimulus Package,” shown above already has 1.5 million views.

Basso asks Americans to stand up against Congress and reclaim their republic now, or maybe lose it forever.

Dr. Basso’s day job is that of a motivational speaker.  http://www.bobbasso.com/index.html He is also the author of seven books including, Never Wanted to Set the World on Fire But Now that I’m 50 http://www.amazon.com/Never-Wanted-World-Fire-Maybe/dp/1556223870/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238351741&sr=8-1 that, ” is a must read for anyone who thinks America is going to hell in a hand basket and would like to run away to an idyllic South Pacific Island like the author.”

Maybe Obama was going to discuss offering him a one way ticket out of America while sipping tea.  If nothing else they could trade autograph copies of their books.

Talk show host and conservative political commentator, Jerry Doyle interviews Dr. Basso on a regular basis on his talk show. http://www.jerrydoyle.com/  Dr. Basso was scheduled to appear on the show but canceled after Obama had personally invited him to meet in the White House “to discuss the disturbing nature of the videos,” according to WND.

Doyle you might recall, coined the phrase “Grapefruit Mentality”, defined as the ability for the public to become interested in an object or person just because the media is paying attention to it.   The content of Basso’s videos are far more than Grapefruit Mentality.

Dr. Basso was warned by Obama not to go public about the interview and Jerry Doyle’s show also received a call from the administration warning them not to air it.  That didn’t deter either of them…. they immediately told everyone what was going on.  A spokesperson for Doyle’s show said that Basso promised to provide Doyle with the first exclusive interview after he meets with Obama, provided the invitation still stands after the meeting was leaked to the press.

How nice to get an invitation from the president, except when that same president is trying to censor a private citizen expressing his 1st amendment rights.

Props to http://zapem.wordpress.com/  and World Net Daily http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=92999  for reporting another Obamination on the citizens of America.  Glen Beck interviewed Basso last week at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-OtagHjbUk  Check out Beck’s 912 Project at http://theglennbeck912project.com/.
