The SEC and Department of Homeland Security are saying we need a web backup plan in the event the H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic forces people to stay in their homes to use computers even more than usual for work or play.

Homeland Security Department accused the GAO of having unrealistic expectations of how the Internet could be managed if millions began to telework from home at the same time as bored or sick schoolchildren were playing online, sucking up valuable bandwidth….Private Internet providers might need government authorization to block popular websites, it said, or to reduce residential transmission speeds to make way for commerce.  http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN2620750120091026?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

Are politician looking craft new ways to get more control on the last free media frontier we have? We believe it is essential that the Internet remain unrestricted with an open platform. 365 days a year, 24/7.  President Obama on the other hand has not been quiet about pushing for Internet legislation.

The government wants to make sure everyone has access to the Internet and have set aside $7.2 billion in stimulus dollars for construction.http://www.examiner.com/x-10317-San-Diego-County-Political-Buzz-Examiner~y2009m10d21-Net-Neutrality-enforcement-may-reach-into-your-computer Again with the stimulus dollars.  Private investment and the private sector is what has spurned it’s growth.  As we have been witness to banks and car companies who accept bailout funds, they also accept government control and regulations.

Last week the FCC begin consideration of the rules that would protect and promote open broadband pipes to the Internet. Over the next several months, an official rule making proceeding will take place, along with public workshops and technical advisory discussions, allowing everyone to provide feedback before the Commission adopts a final set of rules.  The proposed rules can be found here as a pdf http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-09-93A1.pdf  We found it interesting that on p. 97  the document quotes Thomas Jefferson, “The course of history shows that as the government grows, liberty decreases.”

Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam showed in a joint blog post that stakeholders can work together with mutual respect to find common ground, even as we acknowledge and defend important policy differences.  http://googlepublicpolicy.blogspot.com/2009/10/finding-common-ground-on-open-internet.html

One significant issue, is that the government apparently uses the same Internet protocols and the same operating systems as the private sector, making cyber security a universal problem as opposed to a governmental problem.  Hackers may find a greater payload in targeting critical infrastructure such as power grids, financial or communication networks or air traffic control systems than in attacking the CIA or the Pentagon.  An attack by an adversary nation, much less a cyber extortionist or terrorist, is not so far-fetched. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-zirin14-2009oct14,0,603775.story

The federally funded Next Generation Internet (NGI) project (http://www.ngi.gov/) exists parallel to and complementary with Internet2, http://www.internet2.edu/ We have trouble believing that America’s nuclear weapons arsenal operate on the standard net. Internet2 is not available to the general public, even though our taxpayer dollars support it.  More about that here https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/internet-censorship-shocking-treatment-of-taxpayer/ The speed of information-sharing network on Internet2 is now 100 Gbit!

Thomas has the draft of the Rockefeller Cybersecurity Act S 773 here,  http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:S.773.  It  gives the president powers to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” and shut down or limit Internet traffic in any “critical” information network “in the interest of national security.”  More of our previous thoughts here https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/obama-internet-controcybersecurity/

The proposed rules claim that Cisco’s built Internet routers have over 28.1 million lines of code- does anyone realistically foresee the government being able to regulated something so large?  Are attacks of the Swine Flu more common than cyber security breaches?  We we do know that the nation has done a pretty miserable job coordinating it’s response to past emergencies as evidenced by Hurricane Katrina, the financial bailouts, and now the H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic.  If big brother takes over the Internet, the last bastion of freedom of speech in what is left of our democracy, could be gone.

Larry Claxton Flynt, Jr came into this world naked on All Saints Day, November 1, 1942.  Whatever your opinion of  sexually graphic videos and magazines, Larry Flynt’s Hustler magazine has made millions showing off other people’s nakedness to the world.

In the process, Flynt  has protected First Amendment Rights more than President Obama ever will.  The movie which we highly recommend is, , outlining one man’s clash with The Constitution.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_People_vs._Larry_Flynt

Now come Flynt’s latest challenge: Common Sense 2009.  The man who in 1984 who briefly ran for U.S. President as a Democrat against Reagan  has a new call to action- a national labor strike. All due respect but people actually need their jobs and paycheck.  Read: Common Sense 2009

Lest we forget Flynt who once said during proceedings, “Fuck this court!” and called the Justices “nothing but eight assholes and a token cunt,”  referring to Justice O’Conner, sought to reap government dollars from the credit crunch in January 2009-

‘”The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else and they are going to ask for the $5bn. Is it the most serious thing in the world? Is it going to make the lives of Americans better if it happens? It is not for them to determine.” The joint request for Congress to “rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America”, which coincides with this week’s Adult Video Network Expo 2009 in Las Vegas, has not met with any official response.http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/jan/08/larry-flynt-porn-industry-bailout

From and editorial by Flynt on  Huff Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larry-flynt/does-anybody-really-know_b_276849.html

Whatever date is chosen, or however many, I’ll throw in my support. It will be a slow build, but we can win this battle if we remain focused on the prize: meaningful campaign finance reform and serious restrictions on lobbying activity. It’s time to take back our government. Let the average person have an equal voice with the wealthy.

For now, remember: The corporations do not control our government; they are our government.

More recently today saying:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larry-flynt/common-sense-2009_b_264706.html

The American government — which we once called our government — has been taken over by Wall Street, the mega-corporations and the super-rich. They are the ones who decide our fate. It is this group of powerful elites, the people President Franklin D. Roosevelt called “economic royalists,” who choose our elected officials — indeed, our very form of government. Both Democrats and Republicans dance to the tune of their corporate masters. In America, corporations do not control the government. In America, corporations are the government.

And…

Here’s what Rockefeller said in 1994 at a U.N. dinner: “We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis, and the nations will accept the New World Order.”

Multi-billionaire banker David Rockefeller wrote in his 2002 memoirs:

“Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure — one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

Larry Flynt maybe paralyzed from the waist down, but he’s the same defender of  liberties and those self-evident truths that should make every American stand tall.  His corporation remains a private company.

How noble to not have your brain shocked when using the Internet.

Chinese media reported that a clinic in the eastern Chinese province of Shandong had been treating teenagers suffering from Internet addiction with shock treatment. Yang Yongxin, a doctor of the clinic, reportedly used a current of 1-5 milliamperes on the young patients and described the treatment as “therapy to clear the mind” which he claimed would not cause brain damage.  http://www.sinolinx.com/frame/?url=http://www.chinatechnews.com/2009/07/15/10144-ministry-of-health-halts-electric-shock-treatment-for-internet-addiction-in-china/

Turn to Cass Sunstein, President Obama’s choice to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs- things like the Internet and blogs.

Prison Planet http://www.prisonplanet.com/cass-sunsteins-despicable-ideas-on-regulating-the-internet.html  says “Sunstein’s book is a blueprint for online censorship as he wants to hold blogs and web hosting services accountable for the remarks of commenters on websites while altering libel laws to make it easier to sue for spreading “rumors.”

Rep. Linda T. Sanchez has this bill http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.1966 pending that says, “`Sec. 881. Cyberbullying. (a) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.`(b) As used in this section-(1) the term `communication’ means the electronic transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the user’s choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received; and(2) the term `electronic means’ means any equipment dependent on electrical power to access an information service, including email, instant messaging, blogs, websites, telephones, and text messages.’

If one were to comment on your blog or call text that you are a butt head and I disagree with you, this wording could be interpreted as causing severe distress to said butt head and he/she  could sue.  WTF is wrong with people?  WAKE T F UP.

In an attempt to again reduce freedom of speech, I wonder if Obama has plans to torture and do a little shock and awe on internet users in the USA?  With the coming of Internet 2, 3, 4, 5 etc we are already restricted. The federally funded Next Generation Internet (NGI) project (http://www.ngi.gov/) exists parallel to and complementary with Internet2.

“The very high performance Backbone Network Service (vBNS) “is a network that will connect around one-hundred research institutions – and already links five NSF supercomputer centers – at 2.4 gigabits per second by the year 2000.” The vBNS has been around since 1995. Gigabits per second (G/bps)” refers to a billion bits (or ten to the ninth power – 1,000,000,000 – bits of information) when used to describe data transfer rates,” and these are carried over GigaPoPs,…blah blah. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FWE/is_11_3/ai_57785870/

“Eventually, these applications will be available to non-members, though estimates of when that will take place vary from one to many years.”

Translation- Internet2 is filled with bits of information that the common internet user does not have access to.  I am just betting some of those research institutions get some of our federal tax dollars and probably stimulus dollars. National Security sites aside, if  U.S. tax dollars are paying for a full upload of the Library of Congress, then U.S. taxpayers should have full acess.

Shocking indeed.

Global Warming my ass.  56 degrees this morning with another couple of inches of rain to go with the 14 inches we got last week here in FEMA Zone 5.   What happened to summer and hot and humid days?  How many years will I have to watch The God Father movie reruns inside on the 4th of July?

Have all those x marks the spot chemtrails in the sky finally caught up with us mere planetary inhabitants?

Region V is the second most populated of the 10 FEMA regions serving more than 49 million people. The region’s most common challenges are floods, tornadoes, blizzards, and earthquakes. It also has the highest volume of shipped hazardous materials of all 10 FEMA regions, and is home to 16 of the nation’s nuclear power plants which, reside in five of the six of Region V states.  http://www.fema.gov/about/regions/regionv/index.shtm

It’s just cold and rainy and it sucks.  To top it off,  We the People are being held hostage to another piece of crap legislation, the House crap-and-trade energy bill.

I woke up on the right side of the bed today, and put my furnace on while the pool heater is on at the same time.  The washing machine and dryer are running, the stove is on, and so are all my lamps because it is so dark from the overcast sky.  Can’t wait to see how many carbon credits we spend and use today.

Released today. Four independent scientists respond in detail to the evidence that government scientists claim shows that carbon dioxide causes significant global warming. The real debate continues. After the return fire from the skeptical experts, there was not a single point left standing.

“Our conclusions are:

  1. that whilst recent increases in greenhouse gases play a minor radiative role in global climate, no strong evidence exists that human carbon dioxide emissions are causing, or are likely to cause, dangerous global warming;
  2. that it is unwise for government environmental policy to be set based upon monopoly advice, and especially so when what monopoly is represented by an international political (not scientific) agency; and
  3. that the results of implementing emissions trading legislation will be so costly, troublingly regressive, socially divisive and environmentally ineffective that Parliament should defer consideration of the CPRS bill and institute a fully independent Royal Commission of enquiry into the evidence for and against a dangerous human influence on climate.
  4. We add, with respect to point 3 that the scientific community is now so polarized on the controversial issue of dangerous global warming that proper due diligence on the matter can only be achieved where competent scientific witnesses are cross-examined under oath and under strict rules of evidence.

Based on this video, it’s no wonder the rest of the world thinks Americans are stupid.  It might be edited but it certainly proved a point as the answers are none-the-less idiotic and embarrassing. The entire world is full of stupid people who just have no idea what’s going on.   The entire world is also filled with bright, intelligent people who actually know where the Eiffel tower is and are educated enough to make the right decision in the voting booth.

It is scary thinking that some of these stupid people will be voting in less than a month for our next President.  It is these same stupid people who pay taxes though, aren’t they?  They raise families, work, shop, and vote.  I wonder if these are the quality of people ACORN sought out to register?  ACORN did manage to register Mickey Mouse after all and did it all on the stupid taxpayer’s dime.  Just watch how fast Obama distances himself from ACORN now.

These same passerby American masses are being led to the voting booth by their TV sets and what the media has to say.  One web site http://www.untwistedvortex.com/2007/03/18/freakin-stupid-americans/ refers to Americans as Sheeples, ” (people that act like sheep) who believe everything they’re told by a religion, a government, or the mass media.”

Statements like…..If your a Catholic you should vote McCain.  Baptists should go for Obama. Are you black? Vote Obama.  White people go for McCain.  Poor for Obama, and rich folks for McCain.  (we are all a little poorer since Sept 1, eh?)  Conservatives for McCain. Liberals for Obama.  I like Rush so I am voting McCain.  No wait-I like Sean Hannity who favors McCain but then again I really like Alan Colmes so I’ll vote for Obama.  Stupid labels and stupid people who are led to believe what they are told from people they have supposedly come trust and like, their God, their government, their TV sets…..Sheeples, indeed.

Comments on the net offer intelligent reasons to vote for McCain like  I like John McCain because he has balls and on McCain/Palin. when he dies and she becomes president we can finally have someone hot to put on our money )from Amy Robinson’s Web logs http://amyrobinson.wordpress.com/ survey on who are you going to vote for and why.  I guess those answers are silly but at least some stupid Americans have a sense of humor.

“Our population is being dumbed down, literally, with Madonna, wedding cakes, crazy dogs doing tricks, people getting shot and then killing some other dude.  How can we compete as a nation when CNN, that fawning imbecile, and the other purveyors fill our heads with trivia dredged from People magazine, TMZ, YouTube, or the local police blotter? ?”  http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/19/125148/65

There are indeed a lot of reasons not to continue the Republican Regime in the Presidency, but the real reasons to vote for McCain outweigh the reasons to not vote for Obama.  Maligned questions from the last debate give little content as to who you might consider voting for.  On looks and appearances Obama has mass appeal, but the intellectualized content of his message of “spreading the wealth around” is getting lost on most Americans who have no idea the definition of socialism and its impact on democracy.  I wonder if people even know the difference?

Tonight brings us another debate, this one brought to you by Budweiser, formally a USA conglomerate.  {my acronym for Budweiser—Because you deserve what every individual should enjoy regularly.]   This Final Face Off debate will hopefully have more information than fluff but that probably won’t happen.  From the San Francisco news http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/13/ED1T13G6CH.DTL  Apparently, there is a confidential agreement between presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama that is 31 pages of rules and regulations as to how things will proceed and perhaps what is off limits to talk about.  Sadly, whatever the limits are, its secret contents are secret, and have not been released.  Whatever the contents and guidelines are, they certainly influence a major aspect of the debate for the upcoming election.  There will be catchy phrases and trust me, vote for me smiles but we already know, little of what those of us with some intelligence really want to hear will not be spoken about tonight.

Most of the reports have Obama as winning already. In the UK the Guardian Newspaper’s Headline says “Looks good for Obama so Prepare for Defeat “- http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/blog/2008/oct/14/uselections2008-barackobama “A 72-year-old with skin cancer, a bad temper and a hockey mum waiting a heartbeat away on the bench, now that’s frightening.”   Bloomberg says” -Obama is likely to pick up 364 Electoral College votes, far surpassing the 270 needed to claim the presidency, by winning battleground states including Virginia, Ohio, Florida, and Colorado, online traders say. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=anBlDxpbPJpA&refer=home .  http://www.pollster.com/ has Obama 320 to 155 for McCain.

Polls aside, Obama’s character is suspect.  An article from the Washington Post and featured on the Philly dot com  http://www.philly.com/philly/opinion/30881014.html goes on to say “But associations are important. They provide a significant insight into character. They are particularly relevant in relation to a potential president as new, unknown, opaque and self-contained as Obama. With the economy overshadowing everything, it may be too late politically to be raising this issue. But that does not make it, as conventional wisdom holds, in any way illegitimate.”   McCain’s campaign camp in his “play nice” demeanor has not brought his less than reputable associations from The Reverend Jeremiah Wright to unrepentant Ayers.  WHY NOT?

On mere stupidity alone, “That One” might actually get elected POTUS.
