Earthquakes Before West Virgina Coal Mine Explosion, Conspiracy

Earthquakes were reported prior to the West Virginia mine explosion, killing 25.  Hope dims to find additional survivors.

A 3.4 Magnitude earthquake hit the region days before, http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/sehnw0404b.php#details.  Earthquakes release Methane as does coal mining, so one has to pull out the tin foil hat to see if there is a correlation.

Julie Dutton from USGS claims there is little probability that the two are connected at  http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/04/06/seismic-events-triggered-explosion/ but does not completely rule out the possibility.

On March 28, 2010 miners were trapped in a China mining disaster, with more being rescued a week later. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/06/world/asia/06mine.html  While http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/  shows minimal activity in the region, in fact- you have to back up 4 days to see anything  more than a 4+ in China. 

Maybe God had a bad day, as March 28, was also Easter Sunday. http://www.usccb.org/nab/032810.shtml Though, I take my tin foil hat off the think if God was pissed off the calamity would be far more reaching than a coal mining disaster.  Maybe an earthquake in Mexico instead?

CERN and FERMI are still setting world plasma records, the solar flares are at an uptick and so far it it not the end of the world as we know it,,,,unless you are one of the dead from the recent quakes or coal mining incidents.

Earthquake Numbers Increase as CERN’s LHC sets records

A whole flipping lot of them as CERN’s LHC remains powered up, setting world plasma collider records.

CERN LHC Sets Accelerator Beam Record, Doomsday Conspiracy

CERN, The European Organization for Nuclear Research fired up the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to set a world record for accelerating beams of protons.  It created three times the energy by any other machine of earth.  The world did not end yesterday.  

Geneva, 19 March 2010. At just after 5:20 this morning, two 3.5 TeV proton beams successfully circulated in the Large Hadron Collider for the first time. This is the highest energy yet achieved in a particle accelerator, and an important step on the way to the start of the LHC research programme. Less than two weeks ago CERN said, “joints between the machine’s magnets must be strengthened before higher-energy collisions can commence.” http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8556621.stm   Guess they got that fixed enough to continue upramping of protons to set another world record.

There was no major earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, or any catastrophic event associated at the time the two beams collided that we could find.

The  fluxgate magnetometer showed no major hic-up from HAARP until this morning.

The INTERMAGNET, Kyoto GIN: Real-time (Quicklook) Geomagnetic Field Data Page shows nothing out of the ordinary on March 19 either. http://wdc.kugi.kyoto-u.ac.jp/plot_realtime/intermagnet/index.html

Without visiting every observatory for data, no conspiracy conditions seem to exist at the time the two beams collided in the 17 mile, 27 km underground loop buried underground not far from Geneva, Switzerland.  We are very happy the world did not end yesterday, what about today, tomorrow and the next day?

USGS Hic-up March 20, 2010

USGS in Fairbanks, Alaska picked up on the same spike in the atmosphere that HAARP’s fluxgate magnetosphere did earlier this morning.  Perhaps the HAARP array is beaming, a solar flare hit, or it’s instruments picked up on the minor earthquake this morning in Alaska.  http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php

Or, perhaps the activities at the LHC have far reaching repercussions after all.

Critics, though, many of whom have found a powerful platform on the Internet, fear that by smashing protons against each other at 99.9999991 percent of the speed of light, scientists could create tiny black holes which could eventually grow to the point that they swallow up the Earth. http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,577219,00.html

Creating a black hole or some other means of destroying the Earth is disputed by CERN, sort of.  In the article by Inaki San Pedro, Measurement Dependence is not Conspiracy: A Common Cause Model of EPR Correlations says:

First, I look at the EPR correlations from a purely phenomenological point of view and claim that common cause explanations of these can not be ruled out. I argue that an appropriate common cause explanation requires that no-conspiracy conditions are re-interpreted as mere common cause-measurement independence conditions. Violations of measurement independence thus need not entail any kind of conspiracy (nor backwards in time causation). Admitting that there are indeed, “violations of measurement independence,” is conspiratorial in and of itself.

1.  There exists a direct casual connection between the correlated events.

2.  There exists a probabilistic common cause of the correlation.

The basics of time travel will begin for you at CERN in about a year when they announce their ability to create microsingularities, and end in 2034 with the building of the first “time machine.”

This was the Original music video for the David Bowie song Space Oddity from 1969 during all the hoopla surrounding the lunar landings.  Imagine though, the possibility of a black whole or worm hole to take you across the planet in the blink of an eye, say nothing of a visit to the Moon, Mars or a distant galaxy.  Could the LHC make this possible someday?

While certainly not a physicist or an astronaut, we remain very suspect while reach for the tinfoil hats.  CERN and the LHC believe they are not opening a can of worms, but indeed they may open a sort of space time continuum or severely impact the earth as we know it- either now, in the future or perhaps even the past.

Magnetic Storm Prediction for St. Patrick’s Day, CME Approaching Earth

This morning, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory recorded a halo CME emerging from the vicinity of sunspot 1054: movie. The cloud appears to be heading toward Earth and it could spark geomagnetic storms when it arrives on or about March 17th. This Coronal Mass Ejection or CME’s appear to be related to the impact of a series of comets that plunged into the sun and disappeared on March 14, 2010.

CME’s are known to wreak havoc with the Earth’s  magnetosphere, often causing interruptions in radio transmissions, causing power outages (blackouts), and causing damage to satellites and electrical transmission lines. wiki-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronal_mass_ejection. 

In March 1989, a geomagnetic storm triggered the collapse of a power grid in Quebec, leaving an estimated 6 million people without electricity for nine hours. … a CME initiates an interplanetary tsunami—a flood of billions of tons of protons and electrons bursting from the sun that is capable of massive interference with any flux-sensitive apparatus it happens to encounter.  The Industrial Physicist at http://www.aip.org/tip/INPHFA/vol-9/iss-6/p18.html

Some claim that there is a magnetic reversal going on as illustrated in the above video.  A perfect storm for the 2012 doomsday believers.

Among other things that could alter the magnetosphere are experiments from HAARP, who temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere by beaming what it claims is very low frequency radio waves (VLF’s).

According to the HAARP website, it’s transmitter “becomes useless during a geomagnetic storm. During these common solar induced events, the natural variations reach a level that is more than 10,000 times stronger than any variation that HAARP could produce… The Earth’s static magnetic field, in turn, is more than 1,000 times stronger than the variations that occur during a magnetic storm and more than 10,000,000 times stronger than the variations that HAARP could produce.”

In turn, if HAARP really has, could, would or had influence on earthquakes; it is clearly giving warning that a magnetic storm could greatly impact the earth.

Numerous sites like Aaronsreality http://aaronsreality.blogspot.com/ claim that the use of HAARP can not cause earthquakes saying it doesn’t have enough power.  Although he speculates:

 HAARP could be prepared to move the discharge if possible. The calculation requires knowledge of the discharge fault and attraction/repulsive power necessary to move it a few hundred miles out of populated areas. Moving the discharge may reduce the discharge from one 7-9 magnitude earthquake to many 4 and 5s.

The Calm Before The Magnetic Storm on The Chicago River

As a geomagnetic storm approaches, the Lurking on the Grassy Knoll Institute noted that every year since 1961, for the St. Patrick’s Day parade, the city dyes the Chicago river green. The probabilities for significant disturbances in Earth’s magnetic field are currently 30%-35% probability in the next 24-48 hours says SpaceWeather.   Is that percentage enough to warrant preventative measures against additional large quakes or at the very least loosing cell phone and Internet services? 

A poster on the popular Godlike Productions message board predicted large quakes might occur on February 27.  At 3:45 AM today, a magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck Chile, the fifth or sixth strongest quake of the last 100 years.  The poster, “ZOSIME,” based his prediction on the impact of a coronal mass ejection (CME) upon the earth’s magnetosphere.  The CME eruption was observed leaving the sun several days ago.  via http://vanshardware.com/2010/02/8-8-chilean-earthquake-predicted-two-days-ago/

(POSSIBLE INCOMING WITH THE ERUPTION OF THE ‘Great Magnetic Filament’ THAT COULD BE HEADING TO EARTH BY THE 27TH COULD CAUSE THE MAGNETOSPHERE TO BE UNDER PRESSURE. sOME BELIEVE AND I DO THIS COULD CAUSE STRESS ON THE PLATES. JUST A HEADS UP FOR ANY AREA. ON TOP OF THIS ALSO WITH THE UPCOMING FULL MOON THIS COULD GET INTERESTING.  TAKE PRECAUTIONS NOW AND PREPARE JUST IN CASE.

After a solar storm strikes the Earth a geomagnetic storm erupts. The increased magnetic field strength of the magnetosphere pushes down on the ionosphere, which pushes against the oceans. It is due to the electromagnetic properties of sea water that the oceans become temporarily heavier. The extra heaviness of the sea water, coupled with the daily tidal forces of the Sun and Moon cause greater than normal forces to press against both the eastern and western boundaries of the Pacific Plate, but more so the western boundary in the South Pacific Islands region.

Ironically,  “An instrument package set for launch by NASA on Feb. 10 is expected to give scientists a better understanding of the sun’s impact on space weather.  The Extreme Ultraviolet Variability Experiment (EVE) will fly on NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and measure rapid fluctuations in the sun’s extreme ultraviolet output that can have profound effects on Earth’s upper atmosphere.”  Unfortunately,  “the transfer to GEO orbit and commissioning of instruments are expected to take ~3 months. http://lasp.colorado.edu/eve/data/data_product_summary.htm 

To be precautionary, first unplug anything connected to the electrical grid to prevent power surges. Next head out for some green eggs, and corned beef then wash it down with a green beer or two.  When we see the Leprechauns running for cover, and the sky turning green we’ll know if the luck of the Irish holds out for Earth’s electronic grids.

LHC Shutting Down, Operating on Half Power for Earthquake Conspiracy

SUICIDE MISSION? The core of the superconducting solenoid magnet at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) must close at the end of 2011 for up to a year to address design issues, according to an LHC director.  

Dr. Steve Myers told BBC News the faults will delay the machine reaching its full potential for two years.  The atom smasher will reach world record collision energies later this month at 7 trillion electron volts.  

But joints between the machine’s magnets must be strengthened before higher-energy collisions can commence.  The Geneva-based machine only recently restarted after being out of action for 14 months following an accident in September 2008.  

Dr. Myers said: “It’s something that, with a lot more resources and with a lot more manpower and quality control, possibly could have been avoided but I have difficulty in thinking that this is something that was a design error.”  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8556621.stm  

It wasn’t a design error?  Perhaps a human error  from the greatest physicists in the world who couldn’t “tighten the bolts,” so to speak?   

Perhaps it is the LHC playing God, smashing plasma around underground.  Do you really think that the impact of energy collisions of this magnitude can be contained underground with no impact to the surface?  We’ve got a couple of Easy Bake Ovens to sell you if you do.

The LHC wants to re-create the Big Bang?  Yep.  Chile got a big bang alright.

Before the Haiti Quake, EISCAT was busy running its own experiments and it wasn’t beaming a Dorito ad into space. ” The experiment will employ both of the Svalbard antennas, together with three recently installed panel arrays. It is the intention to use the LT4  pulse code, but this will change to the ARCS pulse code if high energy precipitation studies are required. Experiments at Gran Sasso National Laboratory

In Italy, is it a coincidence that  The National Institute of Physics at The Gran Sasso National Laboratory-LNGS, is located near the heart of the Italy earthquakes epicenter in April 2009?  Project OPERA collects neutrinos from the CERN particle physics lab in Geneva to the Gran Sasso underground lab in central Italy, 730 km away. https://ahrcanum.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/italy-earthquake-epicenter-near-nuclear-physics-lab/  

In the past, CERN – like Fermi lab near Chicago, which also operates a supercooled particle collider – ran its accelerators on a one-year schedule. Fermi Accelerator Complex

Fermi lab is a national laboratory funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy.  Yesterday 3.11.10, it announced a break through saying we, “have achieved the world’s most precise measurement of the mass of the W boson by a single experiment….The particle, which is about 85 times heavier than a proton, enables radioactive beta decay and makes the sun shine. The Standard Model also predicts the existence of the Higgs boson, the origin of mass for all elementary particles.” http://www.interactions.org/cms/?pid=1027839  

Again with the origin of mass!  As for the origin of the species argument, it will not go away no matter what science proves.  Imagine telling the billions of believer’s in God, that there is no God? A tree that falls in the woods makes a noise even though I didn’t see it fall.  Higgs boson may exsist but we don’t need to see them or re-create them.

…distinguished physicists have suggested that the hypothesized Higgs boson, which physicists hope to produce with the (sic LHC) collider, might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make one, like a time traveler who goes back in time to kill his grandfather….“Well, one could even almost say that we have a model for God.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/13/science/space/13lhc.html

I had an undergrad course in Philosophy.  The final was to describe the chair sitting in the room.  My answer was two words, “What Chair?”  Got an A.  

What particles?  

We’ve got HAARP and EISCAT heating the atmosphere and CERN heating the underground.  Up and down the Earth is being bombarded by artificially created energy that has to go somewhere.  Is all that energy enhancing the shifting of fault lines and plates beneath the earth’s surface to cause the recent increase of quakes?

Last night another quake hit Chile,  but this one was closer to the surface than the quake that hit last month.

“This quake was located at a depth of 6.8 miles compared to the February 27th tumbler which was at a depth of 21.7 miles. That earthquake, centered offshore with a magnitude of 8.8, was the seventh largest quake in recorded history…It is not certain whether today’s quake was a pre-shock, an aftershock of the February 27th earthquake or a separate earthquake. The earthquake occurred in the “aftershock region”. “The March 11 earthquakes almost certainly occurred as the result of the change of regional stress caused by the February 27 earthquake,” the USGS said in a statement.  http://www.bestsyndication.com/?q=20100311_chilean_earthquake.htm

Sonic Booms, Earthquakes and HAARP

Sonic Booms are again being reported in the U.S. with little explanation as to what is causing them.

In reality, shocks are generated off all sorts of surfaces, not just the nose of the airplane,” says NASA boom specialist Kevin Shepherd. “But often, the big ones swallow up the little ones, and you end up with one that appears to be from the nose, and one that appears to be from the tail. Well, truth be told, you probably hear no booms.  Because earth-bound spoil-sports didn’t like the noise any more than they liked having their windows broken, all but the military are now forbidden to boom over land. HAARP? EISCAT? SURA? A precursor pulse to quake activity?  Is someone or something energizing the ionosphere causing earthquakes and sounds?    Wouldn’t a geomagnetic storm have caused some communication interruptions?  Space debris?

We highly doubt the seismographs in Virginia are capable of picking up something so distant,  so what is that vibration and noise?   With no reports of earthquakes, or military flights what is making the seismographs go into overdrive, yet not making the headlines?

Ah, but what is this little hiccup on the charts from our friends at HAARP on March 2, 2010 around 1500 UTC, the same time we see a spike at the Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory?

Thousands of miles a part and two observatories at about the same time on the same day pick up spikes?

It’s not the first time people have heard odd sounds and lights in Virginia with little explanation.  In March of 2009,      

A mysterious flash of light and loud boom occurred over the skies of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va., on Sunday night, but just what caused the phenomenon is still unknown…..Numerous reports have been called in to this office and into local law enforcement concerning what appeared to be flashes of light in the sky over the Suffolk/Virginia Beach area. We are confident in saying that this was not lightning … and have been in contact with military and other government agencies to determine the cause. Almost a year later and there has been no definitive explanation.

Could something fall into the atmosphere causing the seismometers to jump?  Why would only one seismic monitor in Virginia pick the vibration up when there were reports of a boom as far away as distant counties?

Arctic Sea Methane, Methanegate by CERN, HAARP, Earthquake Conspiracy

Methane bubbles are coming up from the Arctic Sea Bed at an alarming rate according to Martin Heimann in the article, “How Stable Is the Methane Cycle?‘ released today in Science Magazine. http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/short/327/5970/1211

Methane is, after water vapor and carbon dioxide the third most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere and is about 20 times more powerful a gas at raising global temperatures than carbon dioxide .  Methane is also explosive and highly flammable.  

Methane is a chemical compound so it does not have an atomic number, but it does have a molecular formula, which is written as CH 4.  Methane is composed of one carbon atom (atomic number 6) bonded to four hydrogen atoms (atomic number 1) and is a real and present threat.  Besides the fact as bacteria is digested in the digestive system it is eliminated by burping and farting- you can light your farts on fire because of methane!

According to the Timesonline, “The permafrost that covers vast tracts of land in the far North is thawing, steadily adding methane to the atmosphere. The Arctic has warmed at about twice the rate of the rest of the planet. Climate scientists are concerned that as rising temperatures melt more permafrost, the added methane will raise temperatures further and so cause a wider thaw.  http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7050312.ece

Contradicting the theory that the Arctic ice is thawing, this daily chart illustrates that the Arctic Ice Cap continues to expand its coverage and is now within less than 2 standard deviations from the 1979-2000 average. http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/.  But then it goes on to say, “Ice extent was above normal in the Bering Sea, but remained below normal over much of the Atlantic sector of the Arctic, including the Barents Sea, part of the East Greenland Sea, and in the Davis Strait. 

Methanegate or more climategate? More ice there, less ice over there.

Methane has also been discovered on Mars, “…about 90% of the earth’s methane gas comes from living things, such as the decomposition of organic materials. So this is tantalizing evidence that perhaps some form of Martian life created this methane.” http://mkaku.org/home/?page_id=537

So far no one has admitted that there are Martians, but was a cataclysmic event due to a build of of Methane that rendered the planet  inhospitable millions of years ago? 

Could Mars have had some sort of mantle breach caused by the huge kind of earthquakes and tsunami’s and natural disasters the Earth has been increasingly experiencing?   Is Earth’s future looking more like Mars past?

This releases a large amount of methane from the local area. This has been suggested as a possible explanation for the Bermuda Triangle – an area of ocean in the South Atlantic where dozens of ships and planes have disappeared without trace. The theory goes that landslides release the methane, which explodes on contact with, for example, a plane’s engines.

Is there a connection to CERN’s, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)?   The new LHC is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, designed to (essentially) hurl two beams of magnet-accelerated particles at each other inside a vacuum, with the inevitable, hoped-for result being some incredible collisions.

On February 25,  days before the Chile quake struck far across the world at the Hadron Collider, “…some fifty of the mighty collider’s huge superconducting magnets to “quench”.

A quench occurs unpredictably when the magnets get warmer than 9.6 degrees above absolute zero, causing their superconducting properties to disappear and their powerful fields, necessary to bend hyperpowered lightspeed particle beams around into a circle, to collapse. Normally the magnets are kept chilled down to a frosty 1.9 degrees using liquid helium.

Should a quench occur with full-power beams up and circulating, the result would be disastrous as the released, uncontrolled bolts of high-energy protons would deliver a blast equivalent to being rammed by an aircraft carrier. The measurements quoted in the publication were obtained at 0.9 to 2.36 teraelectron volts (TeV). This alone is a world record. However, the aim of the physicists is to achieve collisions at 14TeV. HAARP’s instruments are apparently working in cohesion, both noting interruptions.  Either that, or someone out in the field let a fart go laden with enough methane to show a reading.  This is probably not possible, but the thought the Hadron Collider itself creating enough methane to cause changes on earth gives plausibility.

Its called Arecibo Observatory in PUERTO RICO and is right next door to DR and Haiti. If you got google earth search 18°20′39.05″N, 66°45′10.07″W or type use google maps. This ‘Observatory’ has been off up until recently but look how close it is to Haiti.

Funny how the world’s largest and most sensitive radiotelescope sits atop the siesmically active Puerto Rico Trench, and so close to Haiti.

The 7.0 Earthquake striking Haiti has destroyed much of The Haitian National Palace and most of Haiti as well.  With most living well under the poverty line on $2 a day and one of four living with mud floors, one can only imagine the devastation to a country that was barely hanging on after being hit with four hurricanes.  The rich in the cement homes were crushed to death while the poor survived in tents.

Is it nature communicating to Haiti or is it some man made force of destruction that has by some estimates killed half a million people?

Filchner Ice Shelf breaks off, the size of Rhode Island

An area larger than the state of Rhode Island can be seen breaking from the Filchner Ice Shelf in this series of photo-like images from January 12 (The day of the Earthquake)  and January 13, 2010. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra and Aqua satellites captured these images of the ice breaking away from the ice shelf, which numbers among Antarctica’s largest ice shelves. The top image, from the afternoon of January 12, shows only the faintest hint that an iceberg is calving. By the morning of January 13, the icebergs had broken away in a few large pieces. A hunk of ice the size of Rhode Island breaks off in one day?  Now, that’s what I call climate change.  Could the earthquake or some made made device have caused the ice breaking apart at the South Pole, thousands of miles away? 

All of the Caribbean is a hotbed of geological anomalies and tectonics. Earthquakes have occurred there long before any conspiracy angle that man has caused them to occur.  The Puerto Rico Trench is the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean, with water depths exceeding 8,400 meters making sea exploration difficult.  The Puerto Rico Trench is also associated with the most negative gravity anomaly on earth, -380 milliGal, which indicates the presence of an active downward force.  http://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/explorations/03trench/trench/trench.html

The Dominican Republic shares the eastern third of the Island of Hispaniola with Haiti. What was HAARP up to on January 12, 2010?  The official HAARP facility is located in Gakuna, Alaska.  The conspiracy theory claims that HAARP could be used as directed-energy weapon, weather control, an earthquake induction device and/or for mind control. http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp/cam1.html 

HAARP is an “Ionospheric Heater” which is basically an array of antennas that can send a concentrated beam of RF energy into the ionosphere. It’s located in Alaska because areas near the magnetic poles have a lot of ionospheric activity. It’s not the only facility of its kind. Ionospheric Heating refers to artificially heating the Ionosphere, which is the upper most part of the atmosphere. ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) waves are used to literally boil the upper atmosphere. These images are “fish-eye” views of the entire sky taken by the HAARP imager. The imager uses narrow-band interference filters, an image intensifier tube, and a cooled CCD camera to record the spatial distribution of various auroral and atmospheric emissions with very high sensitivity. It can detect optical emissions far below the visual threshold of the human eye. The 6300 angstrom red line results from excitation of atomic oxygen at altitudes of 200-300 kilometers. The 5577 A green line is an emission from atomic oxygen peaking at altitudes of ~110-150 km. Emissions from nitrogen (4278 angstroms) produce blue light at about 100 km altitude.

If these photos weren’t in black and white perhaps we would know what emissions these were. What is that burst of light there? Any ideas?

During active ionospheric research, the signal generated by the transmitter system is delivered to the antenna array, transmitted in an upward direction, and is partially absorbed, at an altitude between 100 to 350 km (depending on operating frequency), in a small volume a few hundred meters thick and a few tens of kilometers in diameter over the site. http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp/tech.html

Norway Lights Blamed on Russians Missile- Where did it land?

Norwegian authorities are investigating strange lights seen in the arctic sky. The spiraling white light was seen for several minutes on Wednesday morning. Locals say the light appeared to be bigger than the moon. Thousands of Norwegians bombarded the Meteorological Institute to ask what the light could possibly be.

What missile hangs out for 12 minutes? Apparently a Russian missile as, ” Russia admitted on Thursday another failed test of its much-touted Bulava intercontinental missile, after unusual lights were spotted in Norway across the border from the launch site.” http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2009/12/10/world/international-us-russia-missile-failure.html?_r=1  Well then, what goes up must come down so there will certainly be physical evidence of it being a missile.  Right? Right.

Probably just the aliens wanting to see President Obama get the Nobel Peace Prize. 

I much prefer the conspiracy angle!

Maybe the folks at Fermi, CERN’s Hadron Collider, HAARP in Alaska, NASA in Space, and EISCAT, the acronym for the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association, gathered all their technology together for a big plasma burst test as prelude to December 31st, 2009.  New Year’s Eve will offer a blue moon with two full moons occurring in December.
