You think it’s easy to be a farmer? It’s not. Our kids are the 3rd generation to grow up on the family farm and have seen it all. Well, a lot anyway.

They took their hand raised chickens to slaughter. They saw how sneaky a fox can be to get in and eat the remaining chickens. They’ve seen a foal birthing and hours later a donkey attacking it and breaking its neck, killing it in front of them. One day, merrily along they went to the barn and found one of the goats dead as a door nail. Suspect it got into the horse feed.

One of the big Boar goats managed to get stuck in a tree. Poor Annabelle broke her leg. Told the girls aliens and a ufo were bringing her back. lol. Vet said put her down. Not on my kids watch, and though she limps they nursed her back. They gave Annabelle’s boyfriend away as it was not only mating with her, but would jump on them with his erect penis! Ewwwwe. Yup, they know where babies come from.

Early one morning we shot a wild turkey to eat. They watched as it was cleaned and took the leg to school for show and tell. They were of course made fun of. City folk! They didn’t care, we fried up the turkey and probably had turkey sandwiches for lunch the next day!

The kids could tell you about each of the 27 kittens born on the farm over the years. They could also tell you how some get eaten, some don’t make it, some wondered away and some are still around. Some get fixed and then some stranger drops off another one. All have access to shelter and food. Lots of meowing in learning life lessons.

They are thoughtful enough to pick an apple from the orchard for animal treats and give carrots to the pet rabbit. They’ve rescued baby frogs and turtles that get stranded. One rescue attempt, led to a bite and a rabies scare. It was a baby beaver stuck in some undergrowth, before we knew it she picked it up to put it back in the water with it’s mom swimming on the other side. Mama beaver showed no signs of illness and neither did our kid. Whew.

We’ve watched the combine till the soil, plant corn or soybeans and watch the field come to life. Deer are around- tho not many bucks this year. Everyone always alert for coyote and skunks. We’ve become good at trapping varmints and getting better at our aim as well. And, yes they shoot. Only targets so far, they let the adults pull the trigger on the edibles. Imagine that will change as deer, rabbit & turkey season approaches.

The children participate in all sorts of extra curricular stuff that much to my dismay, begins almost as school lets out. They are also 4-H members and raise goats to show. Many friends raise animals for slaughter and the money goes toward college or they are awarded scholarships.

Bill Marler notes that today is a “Big Day for Challenge to U.S. Country-of-Origin Labeling Rule”
http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2013/08/u-s-country-of-origin-labeling-should-end-today-meat-industry-tells-court/

“Led by the powerful American Meat Institute, most of North America’s meat industry today will be asking a federal court in Washington, D.C., for a preliminary injunction to stop USDA from enforcing its new County-of-Origin Labeling (COOL) law.”

That’s just bullshit. It’s important to know where your food comes from, period. You need to know that your meat and for that matter all animals that we eat are reasonably inspected, killed humanely, treated humanely. And, if at all possible raised in the USA. The rules for raising commercial and show animals are cumbersome but tough crap. You think Japan isn’t selling Kobe beef raised near Fukushima?

We double dog dare you to find a veterinarian who will come to your farm! It isn’t cheap. Easy to take our dog, but you can’t exactly walk a horse or a goat into the vet office.

This week is the big livestock & agricultural fair that the kids have been awaiting all year long. Yea for rides, games, fried foods. It also means that all the veterinary inspections must be complete. Tagged, tattoos, shots, deworming etc. Money well spent. Our animals are healthy and we would expect no less from the others. A state and county approved vet come by every single day to check on every single animal. Last year the pigs were under a police tape because of the swine flu scare. More importantly there are hand sanitizing stations everywhere!

One kid is showing a Nigerian Dwarf Goat Whether. That means she had to watch as a rubber band shrunk his balls till they fell off. Yuck on the farm.

One kid is showing a cute little Pygmy goat. Both goats have been fed, washed, shaved and groomed so we are ready to go and compete for ribbons, not goat dinners.

Then there are the shoes and boots. Yes shoes- Muddy ones, snow ones, water boots, shit covered ones. And the nerve of those kids to grow! Oh and don’t forget about the clothes for all seasons and the mandatory outfits to show with your animal. Got news for you, it’s cold in winter taking care of animals that jump, play, and give unconditional love.

Lastly there is school. The children will be marked absent while learning more outside of the classroom than inside it. Common core suck btw, and so do Michelle Obama’s lunch of less than 1000 calories of Cisco processed food.

We are proud to be farmers and teach our children and the distant neighbors who aren’t farmers that live on a postage stamp where food comes from and the effort it takes. It’s heartwarming and often heartbreaking. We are not Duck Dynasty, but like them, thank God for our blessings.

No, it’s not easy being a farmer. It’s a great privilege to teach our children how to become a farmer- that is, if they choose not to be astronauts.

Mango recall! Oh no.

Was about to make some fresh mango salsa to go w nachos for lunch and saw a tweet from #woodywood at yeoldefalseflag that led me to-

California health officials are investigating 73 illnesses potentially linked to Salmonella-contaminated mangoes, the California Department of Public Health said Monday.

The news comes two days after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced a recall of mangoes imported from Mexico after several illnesses were linked to consuming the fruit.

Both California and Canada are investigating the same strain: Salmonella Braenderup.

“Preliminary data indicate that mango consumption is associated with an increase in the number of Salmonella Braenderup cases in California,” said CDPH spokesman Matt Conens. “As of today, there are 73 cases with this outbreak strain that have been confirmed.”

Of the patients who have been interviewed, 67 percent reported eating mangoes, according to Conens, but state officials said they have not yet identified specific mango brand or source yet.

The state agency said it is coordinating investigation with other states, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as well as Canadian health officials.

Over the weekend, Canada recalled Daniella brand mangoes that were sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon between July 12 and August 14. The fruit, which were sold individually, may bear a sticker reading PLU# 4959. © Food Safety News

What does the Swine Flu and the Child Nutrition Act have in common?

Every day during the school year, more than 30 million children receive free or reduced-price lunches under the federal National School Lunch Program, and 10 million get breakfast under the National School Breakfast Program. Pork is included in many of the meals served through those important programs. http://www.porkmag.com/news_editorial.asp?pgID=768&ed_id=7604

The vegetarians and animal rights groups are trying to eliminate meat from school programs as the Child Nutrition Act is about to expire TODAY- September 30, 2009. “Organizations also are calling for the programs to include less or no processed meat, claiming that such “high-fat” products are contributing to obesity, heart disease and cancer.”  Like taking your kid to McDonald’s doesn’t?

…during congressional debate on the Child Nutrition Act is the safety of food. People want to know — as well they should — that the food they eat is free from pathogens that can cause illness and even death. Recent food-safety scares, ironically involving fruits and vegetables, have prompted Congress to review the nation’s food-safety system. This may spawn efforts to include in the child nutrition law new safety regimens for food production, limits on antibiotic use and restrictions on certain animal production practices.”

“The National Pork Producers Council is lobbying members of Congress to keep such mischief out of the Child Nutrition Act and to oppose efforts to reduce or eliminate pork from the school breakfast and lunch menus.”

The irony in citing food safety is that there is no mention of Swine Flu.  Twenty countries have banned imports of pigs, pork and other meat in response to the H1N1 flu strain that has infected both people and swine. This despite the fact that the Centers for Disease Control and the Pork Industry and others have made it clear that swine influenza viruses are not transmitted by food and you cannot get the flu from eating pork or pork products.

From the site “Civil Eats” http://civileats.com/2009/09/08/cafo-workers-and-unchecked-swine-flu/comment-page-1/#comment-3997

The United States Department of Agriculture agreed last week to buy an additional $30 million dollars worth of pork from the ailing pork industry, for a total of $151 million dollars purchased this year, as recompense for supposed damage wrought by the emergence of the swine flu in our common public lexicon (and the result will no doubt keep kids in public schools flush with factory-farmed sausage pizza this year).”

Did $30 million of our tax dollars buy healthy pigs?

Environmental Health Perspectives’ (EHP) cover story this month by Charles W. Schmidt focuses on the issue in detail, reigniting questions surrounding our country’s current standard animal industry practices:

…one potential source of the original outbreak—swine farming in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs)—has received comparatively little attention by public health officials. CAFOs house animals by the thousands in crowded indoor facilities. But the same economy-of-scale efficiencies that allow CAFOs to produce affordable meat for so many consumers also facilitate the mutation of viral pathogens into novel strains that can be passed on to farm workers and veterinarians, according to Gregory Gray, director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Iowa College of Public Health.

Civil Eats goes on to note- CAFOs fall through regulatory cracks when it comes to sampling for novel viruses that could make people sick. [Associate director for epidemiologic science in the Influenza Division of the CDC Carolyn Bridges] explains that producers have little incentive to test for swine influenza’s, in part because they aren’t included on a list of 150 “reportable illnesses” that, when detected, must be documented with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

http://www.oie.int/eng/en_index.htm says:

should the presence of the “pandemic H1N1 2009 virus” be detected on a farm, the holding should be subject to a surveillance plan and movement restrictions applied until recovery; the transfer of clinically healthy pigs from the farm to the slaughterhouse can be done using basic bio-security measures. ;

  • the culling of pigs will not help to guard against public or animal health risks presented by the virus. As for any other disease, slaughtering of sick pigs for human consumption is not recommended
  • pork and pork products, handled in accordance with good hygienic practices jointly recommended by the WHO, FAO, Codex Alimentarius Commission and the OIE, are not a source of infection from the virus;
  • Alas, the first cases of Swine Flu reportedly came from near Smithfield Foods massive hog-raising operations Perote, Mexico, in the state of Vera Cruz.

“CAFO workers can also pick up H1N1 infections and experience a range of symptoms depending on their own immunity, says Gray. In humans, what makes novel H1N1 unique is its remarkable and still mysterious capacity for person-to-person transmission. http://www.ehponline.org/members/2009/117-9/focus.html

“With massive concentrations of farm animals within whom to mutate, these new swine flu viruses in North America seem to be on an evolutionary fast track, jumping and reassorting between species at an unprecedented rate.  This reassorting, Webster’s team concludes, makes the 65 million strong U.S. pig population an “increasingly important reservoir of viruses with human pandemic potential. http://www.hsus.org/farm/news/ournews/swine_flu_virus_origin_1998_042909.html

Chicken fairs no better from the folks at Factory Farming http://www.hsus.org/farm/resources/research/pubhealth/public_health_avian_influenza.html– “Genetic selection for productivity and the stressful, overcrowded, and unhygienic confinement of animals in industrial poultry production systems facilitate immune suppression in birds already bred with weakened immunity, offering viruses like avian influenza ample opportunities for spread, amplification, and mutation. Placing genetically un-diverse birds into these kinds of unsanitary environments with inadequate ventilation and sunlight exposure is believed to provide a ripe “breeding ground” for the emergence and spread of such diseases as virulent avian influenza—diseases with human public health implications.

Will the kids miss out on free bacon and eggs tomorrow while they wait in line for the H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccinations in school?

It is a wonder the population continues to grow at all with all the challenges to live and breath, but does.  Sex is good and with it, sometimes babies get born.  “Oh the horror,” we say sarcastically.

The sweet smell of a babies breath is joyful until the influences of politics, religion, and education take over in time to sour the opinion of a child who grows up, only to think a eugenics agenda acceptable.  Eugenics is not acceptable now or in The New World Order.

Pessimists of the world who believe in Climate Change and Global Warming like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller’s would have us believe that the earth can not sustain so many people sucking up the earth’s resources.  They and others have worked to do just that.

Gates has donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planned_Parenthood. Dealing with sexuality, the organization is mirrored in controversy as it is the U.S.’s leading provider of surgical abortions.  It receives about a third of its funding from tax payers and was a leading campaign contributor to President Obama.

Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio is staging a fashion show of spectacular custom-designed garments featuring “Proper Attire” condoms. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/central-ohio/condom-couture-2009-26884.htm.  Wonder what people who attend should wear?  No stranger to legal battles.  The Supreme Court struck down spousal consent requirements for married women to obtain abortions.  In Ohio, doctors require spousal consent for a vasectomy.  How’s that for a little snippet in justice?

The globalized agribusiness controls our food and it’s distribution.  Remembering the sick joke- How many Ethiopians can you fit in a telephone booth?  All of them reverberates with thousands starving every day.

From the article, “Ending Africa’s Hunger”  http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090921/patel_et_al  more than a billion people eat less than 1600 calories a day.  Highly recommended reading it also outlines the seductiveness and repercussions of the noble quest to feed the world.

Do 3rd world countries exist because they allow themselves to do so, or because of groups who seek genetic purity and population control as their main agenda?

CGIAR, the global network created by the Rockefeller Foundation  promotes an idea of genetic purity through agriculture change picking and choosing who gets food, fertilizers and seed.  Land grabbing by foreign investors in developing countries puts more money in investor pockets than it does food on the table.

It was probably just a matter of time before the international agricultural research establishment would get caught up in the current scramble for land being waged by a number of governments and corporate investors to secure food supplies abroad. After all, that is where a lot of money tagged for “food security” is going these days: on a raft of new projects to acquire and develop huge areas of land for offshore farming. GRAIN identified over 100 such deals, most of them triggered by the food and financial crises, late last year.1 Six months later, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) estimated that, indeed, 15-20 million hectares (ha), mostly in Africa and Asia, had recently been leased, bought up or were under negotiation to produce food for foreign shores.2 The World Bank plunged into a major study on the issue, to be finalised by the end of 2009.3 Land grabbing has even become a feature of most official food security policy discussions at the highest political levels this year, including the G8, the African Union and the UN General Assembly.

Tens of billions of dollars have been mobilised so far, on paper for the most part, to turn these land deals into productive new plantations. This is new money sloshing around in a world plagued by rising hunger. It is not surprising, then, that research institutes which develop new types of seeds, farm machinery or irrigation technologies under a humanitarian mandate would want a piece of the action. http://farmlandgrab.org/7383

Under a humanitarian mandate, Gates, Rockefeller, US agribusiness giant DuPont/Pioneer Hi-Bred (sichttp://www.pioneer.com/web/site/portal/menuitem.0128f8e2dab251f7bc0c0a03d10093a0/) , one of the world’s largest owners of patented genetically-modified (GMO) plant seeds and related agrichemicals; Syngenta, the Swiss-based major GMO seed and agrichemicals company through its Syngenta Foundation have joined forces for a Doomsday Seed Vault – Svalbard Global Seed Vault.   Why?  To control access to food?  Humanitarian goals or population controls?

Originally written in Nature in 1969, Heliophage http://heliophage.wordpress.com/  quotes from the article that, “The Rockefeller and Ford foundations set out to change the mentality and politics of rural Asia.  Food was their tool.  “I’ve worked with wheat, but wheat is merely a catalyst,” Borlaug explained.  “I’m interested in the total economic development in all countries.”  Development meant installing progressive leaders, like military dictator Ayub Kahn, and the Philippines’ Ferdinand Marcos who ran for office on the slogan “progress is a grain of rice.”  By requiring imported fertilizer and fuel, the new grain production strategy broke India’s planned economy, forcing Gandhi to divert resources from industry and devalue the rupee.  Borlaug and President Lyndon Johnson saw this as a victory.  In retrospect it’s less clear.  China and India were evenly matched in 1966, but China continued its industrial drive without letup.

Science and foundations continues to invest heavily in biotech solutions to the problem of hunger and disease. The Spanish flu outbreak killed more than 50 million people near the World War I. The death toll was compounded by large population movements during the war just like we have today.  An estimate on the number of wars known to the United Nations is about 134.. www.un.org.  People are on the move for war, work and vactions but so is the H1N1 Swine Flu, Avian Flu and other deadly disease.

The Swine Flu infection numbers are staggering but so far the death count remains in the thousands.  WHO said there is no way to contain its movement, with nearly every country in the world reporting cases.  Government solutions around the world to fast tracking and mandate new Swine H1N1 vaccines with barely any clinical trials.

(vactruth.com) In a stunning move, the FDA has approved four monovalent Swine Flu vaccines for the following companies: CSL Limited, MedImmune LLC, Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Limited, and Sanofi Pasteur, Inc. Adding to the confusion is the fact that purported ’safety trials’ for the Swine Flu vaccine haven’t even begun, in some instances http://vactruth.com/2009/09/16/fda-approves-experimental-h1n1-swine-flu-vaccine-prior-to-children-safety-trials-beginning/

With no extended vaccine trials,  the outcome of the flu may be that the vaccine kills people more than the virus.

Where did the mutated swine flu come from, more than likely engineered in a lab from one of the vaccine manufacturers and released either accidentally or intentionally for profit and population control.

Finally the jury is getting closer to the verdict that realizes redistributive social policy, food control, medical control, economic control and population control is leading toward a eugenics program that is unfathomable.  It all adds up to nothing less than a New World Order.

Norman Borlaug’s Green Revolution of Eugenics And Genetically Modified Food (GMO)

Dr. Norman Borlaug has died at the age of 95.  Borlaug won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for agricultural innovation and the development of high-yield crops that help put a stop to the projection of world wide famine.  He was also awarded Congressional Gold Medal in 2007.

In the hey day of LSD, the Vietnam War and outbursts from Jane Fonda during the 1960’s, Professor Borlaug began manipulating seeds.  He  produced higher-yield, disease resistant dwarf wheats and other grains that rapidly boosted harvests.  Improving crop varieties were just part of his solution, he also worked with governments around the world for farmer friendly economic policies and improved infrastructure to make markets accessible.

World food production more than doubled between 1960 and 1990.  Cancers rates have more than doubled too, with an estimate that it could further increase by 50% to 15 million new cases in the year 2020, http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2003/pr27/en/

Borlaug’s work became referred to as The Green Revolution, long before genetically modified food, pesticide use and climate change became political scourges.

For many people who believe in Climate Change and Global Warming, decreasing the world’s population would be one way to reduced human footprint upon the earth.  Less people would mean less consumption of resources.

Main stream media with newly coined acronyms like -NBC, or “Nothing But Crap,” ABC — “All Barrack Channel”, and CBS, which is dubbed “Controlled by State.” (http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/feature/2009/09/12/protest/ ) rarely come right out and say the word, eugenics nor mention the conspiracies that surround it.  With talk of Obama care though, the thought of Nazi propaganda has become explosive on blogs, Fox News, Satellite and terrrestial Radio and at Tea Parties. From Bob Kemp at- http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/kemp/090908

“Control the birth rate, ration healthcare and medicine and restrict availability of various treatments and procedures. Let’s not forget the efforts of many nations to eliminate the births of “defective” children by abortion, and segregate the aged, mentally challenged and physically deformed by whatever means are available, just as long as the “fit” do not have to look upon the “unfit.” In the early decades of the 20th century, eugenics found much of it funding coming from corporate philanthropies like The Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Institution and the Harriman railroad fortune, just to name a few. These corporations joined with respected scientists from some of America’s most prestigious universities such as Stamford, Yale, Harvard and Princeton. They all believed that eugenics was good science; good for the nation, good for mankind, good for the future. They promoted race theory and race science and would alter and manufacture data to serve their racist agenda.”

Michael R. Taylor was appointed by the Obama administration to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 7th.  He was The Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto Corp. from 1998 until 2001.

“Yet what has slipped under everyone’s radar screen is Taylor’s involvement in setting U.S. policy on agricultural assistance in Africa. In collusion with the Rockefeller and Bill and Melinda Gates foundations, Taylor is once again the go-between man for Monsanto and the U.S. government, this time with the goal to open up African markets for genetically-modified (GM) seed and agrochemicals. http://www.foodfirst.org/en/node/2515

“Recently the American Academy of Environmental Medicine called for a moratorium on GMO foods stating that they “pose a serious health risk.” These risks include “infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes associated with cholesterol synthesis, insulin regulation, cell signalling, and protein formation, and changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system.” (see http://www.aaemonline.org/gmopost.html and http://www.aaemonline.org/gmopressrelease.html).

Ah, Montsano with it’s motto of Growing Yield Sustainability http://www.monsanto.com/ are owners of the fertilizer, pesticides, and the improved seeds.  Varieties of Monsanto’s GM corn produce seedless plants requiring farmers to buy more seeds for each planting season.

“While AGRA may not benefit African farmers, it will certainly benefit Monsanto. Some estimate that Monsanto controls 90 percent of the global market for GM seeds. In Brazil, 54 percent of all soybeans are produced with Monsanto’s GM Roundup Ready© seeds, and in 2008, the country began spraying more pesticides and herbicides than the U.S. There is evidence that in 2003, Monsanto sold a Brazilian senator a farm for one-third of its market value in exchange for his help to legalize the herbicide glyphosate (the world’s most widely used herbicide), sold by the corporation as Roundup©. In 2008, Monsanto controlled 80% of the Brazilian market for glyphosate, having elevated the price by 50% since its legalization.”

One of the worlds largest crop protecting companies, Nufarm America  oulines its latest contributions in chemicals to seeds at http://www.zimmcomm.biz/nufarm/Nufarm%20Makes%20Move%20in%20Seed%20Treatment.doc pdf most all containing Tebuconazole one of the best selling fungicides in the World and is used against a wide range of diseases. Numerous chemical companies have thier own formulations. Used in more than 90 crops such as bananas, cereals, coffee, grapes, canola, peanuts, pome and stone fruits, rice, soybeans and vegetables.  Tebuconazole was included in a biocide ban proposed and approved by the Swedish Chemicals Agency.

The U.S. Food and Drug Aministration considers this fungicide to be safe for humans, it may still pose a risk. It is listed as a possible carcinogen in the US Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) Carcinogen List with a rating of C (possible carcinogen). History Channel Admits Rockafeller Population Control Video, 2007

Turn to this May when the “Billionaires Club” meeting took place secretly to consider how their wealth could be used to slow the growth of the world’s population and speed up improvements in health and education.  Described as the Good Club by one insider it included David Rockefeller Jr, the patriarch of America’s wealthiest dynasty, Warren Buffett and George Soros, the financiers, Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, and the media moguls Ted Turner and Oprah Winfrey.  The philanthropists who attended a summit convened on the initiative of Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, discussed joining forces to overcome political and religious obstacles to change  http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6350303.ece “Taking their cue from Gates they agreed that overpopulation was a priority.

Gates had donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood. President Obama was the top recipient of Planned Parenthood campaign donations in 2008.  http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/committees/planned-parenthood-action-fund-inc-70004148.asp?cycle=08

Gates and the Rockefeller Foundation are funding a “Doomsday Seed Vault” in the Arctic to under the premise of preserving “crop diversity.” Many experts feel that this vault is being used to develop more GMO foods as a form of biowarfare.  http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7529

“The first notable point is who is sponsoring the doomsday seed vault. Here joining the Norwegians are, as noted, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; the US agribusiness giant DuPont/Pioneer Hi-Bred (sichttp://www.pioneer.com/web/site/portal/menuitem.0128f8e2dab251f7bc0c0a03d10093a0/) , one of the world’s largest owners of patented genetically-modified (GMO) plant seeds and related agrichemicals; Syngenta, the Swiss-based major GMO seed and agrichemicals company through its Syngenta Foundation; the Rockefeller Foundation, the private group who created the “gene revolution with over $100 million of seed money since the 1970’s; CGIAR, the global network created by the Rockefeller Foundation to promote its ideal of genetic purity through agriculture change.

“Green Revolution was a brilliant Rockefeller family scheme to develop a globalized agribusiness which they then could monopolize just as they had done in the world oil industry beginning a half century before. As Henry Kissinger declared in the 1970’s, ‘If you control the oil you control the country; if you control food, you control the population.’

Dr. Norman Borlaug for today is being hailed a hero. What his food research has produced for the future may not turn out to be so heroic, unless your into population control.

cheeriosWhose feathers got ruffled enough to think Cheerios is a drug?  The egg industry?  The pork industry?  The pharmaceutical industry?  The FDA?

Promoting Cheerios as a drug that can lower cholesterol is going too far says the FDA.   “Based on claims made on your product’s label, we have determined that your Cheerios Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal is promoted for conditions that cause it to be a drug because the product is intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease.” The agency takes special issue with these claims:  “you can Lower Your Cholesterol 4% in 6 weeks.”

What a bunch of crapola.  An apple a day helps keep the doctor away, carrots are good for your eyes, lycopine in tomatoes reduces the risk of cancer, coffee is a diuretic, splenda food products cause diarrhea, etc.  A lot of food has heath benefits and warnings, but the Obama FDA Administration has gone after General Mills.

Avoiding bacon and eggs for breakfast everyday, and substituting Cheerios or any other reasonably good for you cereal couldn’t hurt in reducing cholesterol either.  The current box on my shelf has the disclaimer that says, ” MAY reduce the risk of heart attack.” The box also features an ad campaign Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts, donating  $1 toward cholesterol screening for women in need.  www.cheerioshlepinghearts.com .  Considering Heart disease is the #1 cause of death among women, I’d say it a rather noble cause.

From the Harvard School of Health, study after study shows “Soluble fiber helps lower cholesterol. Insoluble fiber helps move waste through the digestive tract. Fiber may also kindle the body’s natural anticoagulants and so help prevent the formation of small blood clots that can trigger heart attacks or strokes.” http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/health-gains-from-whole-grains/index.html.

Why did the FDA cross the road to go after one of America’s best loved breakfast food?   Mounting pressure from the egg and pork industry due to recent viral contaminations has everyone concerned.  The pork industry, already strained from recent outbreaks of the H1N1 flu virus, which is politically incorrect to call the Mexican Swine Flu Virus, prefers you eat bacon or sausage breakfast.

The Incredible Edible Egg.  Despite working hard to convince the world that Chinese food is safe, recently Hong Kong found traces of melamine in some eggs imported from China -“Select Fresh Brown Eggs” were 88% higher than the safety threshold allowed for the chemical.  China and the US are the leaders in egg production.  The egg industry hardly wants to hear about egg substitutes or eating tofu instead.  Neither industry want to hear about vegetarians!  http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/05/chickens-obama-white-house-may.html notes May 4, “International Respect for Chickens Day. In fact, this entire month is International Respect for Chickens Month, designed to celebrate those feathered fowl and highlight the political import of chickens in our world and also how tasty they are” . http://www.upc-online.org/respect/

A huge benefit from the Egg Industry lies in the production of vaccines.  Vaccines like the one’s the CDC Mandates for Children.  Obama is suggesting this fall all Americans receive three flu vaccines- one for the seasonal flu and two for the Swine Flu.    Mary Tacco’s site reiterates some of the vaccine concerns referencing  Dr. John Martin, former FDA administrator  ” These viruses fail to be recognized by the immune system and lead to neuropsychiatric illness including but not limited to autism.   He believes that the autism epidemic is due to an infectious component and not just thimerosal. (Much like the MMR infection – autism connection.) Also he states that our FDA and our government’s own vaccine studies found the cytomegalovirus DNA, which is from the African green monkeys (simian monkey virus) in the polio vaccination given to all Americans prior to 1992.  Instead of informing the public and taking responsibility for this, they covered it up.  Many doctors believe that the Aids epidemic is the product of these and other vaccines. ”  http://www.marytocco.com/vaccinefacts.htm

Is the FDA’s attack on Cheerios motivated by political donations?  Lobbying matters, don’t kid yourself. 2008 reports from www.opensecrets.com

Total For Food Processing & Sales: $6,700,516— Subtotal for Parent General Mills: $769,300—  Total For Crop Production & Basic Processing: $5,265,275— Subtotal for Parent Food Marketing Institute: $6,248,130— Subtotal for Parent Smithfield Foods: $350,000— Total For Poultry & Eggs: $841,342— The United Egg Producers $80,000— Subtotal for Parent National Chicken Council: $120,000.

The numbers pale in comparison to the Pharmaceuticals/Health Products lobby efforts pending, $235,315,408,  the subtotal for Parent Pharmaceutical Rsrch & Mfrs of America: $20,220,000.  Frig that knowledge is power- money talks.  The money trail to who has the power over what you eat must certainly be influenced by the FDA who’s member have ties primarily to the pharmaceutical industry- not the agricultural, egg, pork, dairy, chicken industries.  “Recent press reports revealed extensive evidence of serious wrongdoing by Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, Dr. Frank M. Torti, top FDA attorneys, center and office directors, and many others in prominent positions of authority at FDA. As a result, Dr. Frank M. Torti, acting commissioner and the FDA’s first chief scientist, abruptly left the Agency,” writes http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/16742/

The FDA regulates products that represent about 25 percent of every consumer dollar spent. During the Bush administration, the agency was widely criticized for making decisions based on politics, not science.  NPR is reporting, “A Senate committee has approved President Obama’s nomination of Dr. Margaret Hamburg to be the next commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. The full Senate vote is expected.  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=104107440

Lord know how much was spend on the propaganda of animal rights groups concerned with how chickens, pigs, cows and other animals are treated. “Recombinant bovine growth hormone, or rBGH, is injected into dairy cows to artificially increase their milk production. The hormone has not been properly tested for safety. Milk labeled rBGH-free is produced by dairy cows that never received injections of this hormone.”Milk lobbyists pointed out that the Food and Drug Administration considers the artificial hormone to be safe (although many scientists believe it may cause cancer). Oh no- I add milk to my cheerios.  A double drug whammy for sure.

I don’t know where General Mills gets the grain to make Cheerios, but I’d  bet that it is sprayed with some sort of pesticide.  There are health and safety risks to producing any food product.  Just ask the peanut industry and tomato growers with salmonella outbreaks.  Animals get antibiotics, and all sorts of injections to make them grow, increase production, alter immune systems – the same as humans, eh?

If a spread of the Avian Influenza (AI) virus cannot be stopped and the H1N1 flu mutates or becomes Pandemic 6; you can bet your sweet petuti consumers are going to refrain from eating poultry, meat and eggs- and maybe even beef, no matter what the FDA, CDC and WHO tell you.

To think that the FDA has nothing else to worry about than Cheerios being a drug, only reinforces dereliction from The Obama Administration.  How many illegal drugs come into this country everyday?  Could we focus on that?

I wonder if mom’s of boys who use cheerios for kids to aim at during potty training are worried about the potential hazards? Better switch to Lucky charms–lol

Q: What did the blond say when she looked into a box of Cheerios?
    A: “Oh look! Donut seeds!”

Yo mama is so fat, she eats her cereal out of a satellite dish!
