Our Global Warming vacation has done us a world of good. Most of us were in Florida to escape the snow for awhile. Those who stayed claim it wasn’t much of a winter.
Everyone needs to remove the tinfoil hat once in awhile and take a conspiracy break! Now back at home, the temperatures are in the 60’s and soon we will begin plowing, planting and harvesting non-Monsanto seeds.
While today might be an ordinary day; for those of us who do occasionally wear our tinfoil hats, The Ides of March is the perfect opportunity to catch up on conspiracy.
“Beware The Ides of March,” is a warning for today and found in the Roman calendar that marks the middle of the month. Roman leader Julius Caesar was warned that he was in imminent danger. Caesar didn’t listen and was stabbed to death on March 15, 44 B.C. If someone warned you of impending danger would you do something to avoid it? Go ahead light up another Marlboro, toss back a Scotch (Maker’s Mark preferably) while you read!
There are warning signs everywhere that doom, gloom and disaster could strike at anytime. Two civic groups in Fukushima Prefecture are planning to file a criminal complaint against senior officials of Tokyo Electric Power Co. and government bodies for professional negligence over the Fukushima nuclear crisis, group members said Wednesday.

What we believe is that only God is perfect. The $hit might hit the fan sometime, somewhere, somehow. Just ask the Syrian or Egyptian people. It doesn’t take the Ides of March for us to know someday each of our days will end.

President Obama may be in contempt if he fails to show up tomorrow in a Georgia court. The main complaint claims he is not a natural born citizen and should not be permitted on the Georgia ballot for re-election.

Deputy Chief Judge Michael Malihi on Friday, denied a motion by the president’s lawyer to stop a subpoena that requires Obama to show up in person.
His Order on Motion to Quash Subpoenas:
ORDER ON MOTION TO QUASH SUBPOENAS
Defendant, President Barack Obama, a candidate seeking the Democratic nomination for the office of the President of the United States, has filed a motion to quash the subpoena compelling his attendance at the hearing on January 26, 2012.
In support of his motion, Defendant argues that “if enforced, [the subpoena] requires him to interrupt duties as President of the United States” to attend a hearing in Atlanta, Georgia. However, Defendant fails to provide any legal authority to support his motion to quash the subpoena to attend. Defendant’s motion suggests that no President should be compelled to attend a Court hearing. This may be correct. But Defendant has failed to enlighten the Court with any legal authority. Specifically, Defendant has failed to cite to any legal authority evidencing why his attendance is “unreasonable or oppressive, or that the testimony… [is] irrelevant, immaterial, or cumulative and unnecessary to a party’s preparation or presentation at the hearing, or that basic fairness dictates that the subpoena should not be enforced.” Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r. 616-1-2-.19(5).
Defendant further alludes to a defect in service of the subpoena. However, the Court’s rules provide for service of a subpoena upon a party, by serving the party’s counsel of record. Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r. 616-1-2-.19(4). Thus, the argument regarding service is without merit.
Accordingly, Defendant’s motion to quash is denied.

A black bear named Jewel in Ely, Minnesota is apparently days- maybe hours away from giving birth to cubs in her den. Way better than watching O.J. Simpson but just as addicting, you can watch her on a live webstream!
Bear researchers have put up a video camera inside her bear den so all the world can watch! It’s infrared for night time viewing as well. On Monday morning Jewel was doing what bears normally do in the winter, curl up in a ball and sleep. Through the week though, Jewel has become more active, grooming herself, and fidigitting around, and well- let’s just say paying attention to down there. We can’t take are eyes off this bear. Phobos-Grunt, what really happened?
The Phobos-Grunt Probe destined for Mars has apparently completed its earth orbit, crashing onto our Blue Marble somewhere, sometime on January 15, 2012. Looks like we aren’t the only ones questioning HAARP in Alaska, and other radar installations.
Lt. Gen. Nikolay Rodionov, a former commander of Russia’s ballistic missile systems, says covert U.S. radio beams — not any Russian screw-ups — scrubbed the interplanetary trip
In a November 24, 2011 interview with the Russian news agency Interfax, Rodionov said ‘powerful American radar’ in Alaska ‘could have influenced the control systems of our interplanetary rover,'” Nash wrote in his post:

Numerous satellite tracking sites were able to pinpoint its location- until apparently, the last hours of Phobos life. Either communication was lost, demand exceeded band-with or there was some other nefarious reason we couldn’t track its apparent final demise- if in fact, it has crashed at all.

Instead, the site posted a vague statement asserting Phobos-Grunt “decayed within the forecast period of 16:59-17:47” GMT….
Weeden, a former U.S. Air Force officer who directed the Joint Space Operations Center’s orbital analyst training program, has no idea what would motivate the U.S. military to break with standard protocol for Phobos-Grunt. But he says the unusual steps taken by the military raise questions about the reliability of its data with regard to high-profile or important events such as Phobos-Grunt.
“This also appears to run counter to the expressed policy of the U.S. government to improve its data-sharing efforts on space situational awareness, and undermines efforts by other U.S. government agencies such as NASA and the State Department to communicate with the public and other countries on reentries,” Weeden says.

Phobos was allegedly stuck around 201km perigee and 275 km apogee and had gradually declined when reports came in that it had crashed 17:45 UTC, 1:45 EST. Crashed where? Did it crash at all? The leading answers are the Pacific, central Brazil, some place off Chile or the Atlantic.
Previously Russia’s envoy to NATO and now Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin isn’t ruling out that the launch could have failed from U.S. radar saying on Tuesday, ‘This theory has a right to exsist. I am taking the investigation into the reasons for the Phobos-Grunt failure under personal control.’ Rodionov and Rogozin don’t stand alone in the HAARP theory.
The Soviet Union once a country united is nothing, if not cohesive in lying blame on others. Roscosmos head Vladamir Popovkin sad the probe could have been caused by, “interference from a foreign technical facility.”
“Experts do not dismiss the possibility that the probe could have accidentally come under the impact of emissions [from a U.S. radar stationed on the Marshall Islands], whose megawatt impulse triggered the malfunctioning of on-board electronics.” Kommersant, the business daily citing an unnamed source in the Russian Space industry.”
In the Marshall Islands, it is The Kwajalein Mission Control Center (KMCC) that provides the central control, command, communications, and computing essential for directing the realtime data collection efforts of the RTS sensors. Many Russian officials and military brass blame many natural calamities on HAARP. Phobos-Grunt fragments have crashed down in the Pacific Ocean,” Russia’s Defense Ministry official Alexei Zolotukhin told RIA Novosti, adding that the fragments fell in 1,250 kilometers to the west of the island of Wellington.
The spacecraft allegedly fell at about 21:45 on Sunday Moscow time [17:45 GMT].

The German Tira (Tracking and Imaging Radar) facility saw Phobos-Grunt during its last days.Phobos-Grunt was a 13.5-tonne spacecraft’s with an estimated 7.5 tons of fuel, stored in aluminum tanks that should have exploded upon reentry making quite a scene. Perhaps visible from the ISS and certainly visible to at least on of the 1,000’s of other orbital satellites, no? German tracking shared this undated photo suggesting that the Phobos-Grunt last days were on fire.

Pieces from the Phobos-Ground, which had become stuck in Earth’s orbit, landed in water 1,250 kilometers (775 miles) west of Wellington Island in Chile’s south, the Russian military Air and Space Defense Forces said in a statement carried by the country’s news agencies.
The military space tracking facilities were monitoring the probe’s crash, its spokesman Col. Alexei Zolotukhin said. Zolotukhin said the deserted ocean area is where Russia guides its discarded space cargo ships serving the International Space Station.
RIA Novosti news agency, however, cited Russian ballistic experts who said the fragments fell over a broader patch of Earth’s surface, spreading from the Atlantic and including the territory of Brazil. The Doomsday Clock, a relic of the Cold War nuclear arms race is still ticking, and today it will move forward or backward.
Today the Doomsday Clock rests at six minutes to midnight. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists will announce it’s decision in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. The B.A.S. board of directors includes 18 Nobel laureates among its experts.

Nuclear weapons have been a great deterrent, but we have places like North Korea, Pakistan and Iran who are in development. Would they be willing to sell them to terrorists like the Tali-ban?
In the late 60’s we recall standing in line for our Polio shots along the halls of elementary school. On the walls were the atomic symbol that the school was a bomb shelter. Today, the drills to put our heads under the desk to cover our head drills seem most asinine. So too does getting the Polio shot, which the U.S. government claims to have millions of doses in storage- somewhere.
Maybe worse than selling a nuke is the prospect of securing a nuclear weapons site and keeping track of fuel rods.

Their engines power the modern Soyuz, the Zenit 3SL, and the Angara and Baikal launch vehicles. Heck, their RD-180 engine powers the first stage of the Atlas V, an American rocket. More importantly, they have specially strong ties to the Russian military.

Did HAARP hit the Phobos-Grunt Probe? Probably not, but put your tinfoil hats on anyway.
A Soyuz rocket launched successfully from the Russian-leased Baikonur cosmodrome this morning on its way to the ISS. We woke up early to watch a beautiful launch. On December 17, 2010, from the new $800 million facility in French Guiana, “A Russian Soyuz rocket fired six satellites into space Friday, launching missions to serve defense agencies in Europe and Chile with high-resolution imagery and electronic intelligence.” http://www.spaceflightnow.com/soyuz/vs02/111217launch/.
In the post Shuttle era it is a huge sigh of relief. In August, an unmanned Progress cargo ship headed for the space station crashed – the rocket that failed was the same kind used by the Soyuz.
The rocket that launched Phobos was a Zenit-2.
The Fobos-Grunt or Phobos-Grunt or just Phobos is an attempted Russian probe that was designed to collect rock and samples from one of Mars’ moons Phobos, and bring them back to Earth to study. It also carries China’s first Mars satellite, Yinhou-1. A pretty ambitious effort considering this is Russia 16th failed mission attempt to the Red Planet.
Phobos was launched on 9 November 2011 at 02:16 local time (8 November 2011, 20:16 UTC) from the Cosmodrome. Apparently, subsequent rocket burns intended to set the craft on a course for Mars failed, leaving it stranded in low Earth orbit. It’s stuck around 201km perigee and 275 km apogee giving skywatchers plenty of looks.
At about two and a half hours into the mission, something went haywire and it is now expected to mostly burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere. So why the failure?
Eleven minutes after launch, it was in an elliptical orbit around 345km above the Earth. In the attempt to raise the orbit and get Phobos on its mission to Mars, two firings from the probes 13 tons of hydrazine fueled tanks were planned.
Russian Space agency officials say neither burn took place.

Along comes an amateur astronomy taking a mediocre video that captures what appears to be Phobos with an unidentified object nearby.

I have just received word from the project that there seems to be a serious problem.
After the planned first burn of the engine, the spacecraft was not found in the predicted orbit. Alternative radar
observations preliminarily show that there are two objects in the orbit with parameters the same as before the planned
engine burn. Observers are requested to attempt to discover the spacecraft in the initial LEO parking orbit.
This is the official pre-launch estimated TLE of the LEO parking orbit:

I imagine that one of the two objects seen on the radar could be the final stage of the booster. Accurate descriptions

“illuminated phase” of the expected path.
But one of my colleagues (called Heverton) that lives in the city of
Umuarama of state of Paraná (south of Brazil –

Nothing personal but if anyone is going to use the ionosphere, I hope it is the U.S.A. So what was HAARP up to?

All things considered, a flea on a camel’s ass makes more of a hicup than that.
So maybe it wasn’t exactly HAARP. Or maybe HAARP was on re-runs from a previous day. Could it have been an early warning radar interference mechanism? Could it have been the Russians themselves?
Recall Project Woodpecker and it’s satellite jamming efforts. This was followed by the Duga-2, built on the same site and also used as our daily entry picture.
Woodpecker tracked launches from the far east and submarines in the Pacific Ocean as the missiles flew toward. It’s site lies within the 30 kilometer Zone of Alienation around the Chernobyl power plant. It’s debatable if it remains operational today.
The Russian space program generally speaking is like the U.S. program, running out of money. So who does have the money and the science to kill Phobos?

Eclipse.
As far as astronomy goes, we’d hardly call any of us experts. We write from America’s farmland, nestled between two major city airports and have an grass airstrip in the backyard. A few folks are licensed pilots, and have served in the Air Force flying F-16’s and some bomber plane that the old man can’t remember the name of anymore. We’ve always thought that flying, whether to the moon, planets or on an airplane is a privilege- not a right. Baldwin should take heed.
The great thing about being rural is the night sky and no city lights. We have a good view of weather fronts, contrails, chem-trails, satellites, and the sky in general. We’ve turned our cell phones into a satellite and airplane tracking devices, but nothing beats the naked or enhanced telescopic eye. A few days ago we found a UFO or something odd from the GOES satellite that we’ve never seen before.

Who will light up your life now that the standard incandescent light bulb is all but extinct? Energy efficiency standards for light bulbs will begin to phase in on Jan. 1, 2012. Readers might want to hope for light bulbs in their stockings this year.

We could blame President Obama with all his global warming, tree hugging pandering to General Electric. One can even go back to the Bush era with Congress passing an energy conservation measure that set standards to ban most ordinary incandescent bulbs. But you know what? It is you and I that are to blame. We voted them into office. Some of them bought into global warming. My vote may have canceled yours out, and the lefts effort to save the planet and some money in the process, has back fired. Talk about being dim witted.

Forget about ethics challenges in having a CEO whose income is determined by stock performance leading a panel designed to recommend government policies. G.E. Like Solyndra, a number of “smart grid” companies have received taxpayer backing. But federal financing was not enough to keep Beacon Power, a manufacture of flywheel energy storage technology, from going bankrupt. They may not be the last smart-grid company consigned to that fate.
Beacon received a $43 million loan guarantee from the same stimulus-funded Energy Department program that financed Solyndra. Late last month the company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection…
Ener1, which, with subsidiary EnerDel, has received more than $120 million in federal grants, announced early last week that it had replaced its president, its chief executive, and its top financial officer. The company manufactures lithium-ion batteries for smart-grid energy storage.

The outlook for piping music into office space or the shop floor is about to get a lot brighter. Lighting solutions company Osram Sylvania and audio innovator Artisan have teamed up to produce the MusicLites system – a 10W LED light bulb with a 70mm full range hi-fi audio speaker built in. When GE announced winners of the first contest, with a prize pool of $55 million, it planned to contribute about half the total.
