According to the Congressional Budget Office, the House Health Care bill would cost $894 billion over 10 years and extend insurance coverage to 36 million, covering 96 percent of Americans. This morning, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will unveil(ed)  the re-tooled Affordable Health Care for America Act (HR 3962). (Read the bill HERE.) with props to http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/10/29/details-house/ who notes that the legislation on the floor next week, with a final vote before “Veterans Day,” November 11th. At the moment, “House Democrats do not have firm commitment from enough lawmakers to guarantee passage of their bill.” One whip count has shown 23 centrist Democrats intend to vote against any health bill. Assuming that all Republicans vote against it, the bill can lose at least 38 Democrats and still pass the chamber.

It creates 53 new government bureaucracies, adds hundreds of billions to our national debt, and raises taxes on job-creators by $600 billion. “(a) Outpatient Hospitals – (1) In General – Section 1833(t)(3)(C)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395(t)(3)(C)(iv)) is amended – (A) in the first sentence – (i) by inserting “(which is subject to the productivity adjustment described in subclause (II) of such section)” after “1886(b)(3)(B)(iii); and (ii) by inserting “(but not below 0)” after “reduced”; and (B) in the second sentence, by inserting “and which is subject, beginning with 2010 to the productivity adjustment described in section 1886(b)(3)(B)(iii)(II)”.

Adding more wasted taxpayer dollars- the U.S. has spent $1.5 billion for the 250 million swine flu vaccines that the government has ordered so far and will be distributing free to doctors, pharmacies and schools.
