No longer a rumor, the US Navy will dispatch 3 helicopter carrier ships to the shores of New York and New Jersey, USS Wasp, USS Carter Hall and USS Mesa Verde.

Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Navy’s chief spokesman, wrote in a blog post Wednesday that the ships have not been officially been asked to provide support. That decision would be made by U.S. Northern Command in support of FEMA efforts. Navy shows up

The National Defense Authorization Act, signed by Pres Bush FY 2008, under 18 U.S.C. 983 does eliminates Posse Comitatus in a nuclear emergency. Say like at Oyster Creek- Nine Mule Point northwest of Syracuse, Indian Creek 25 miles north of NYC, the Salem Plant on the Delaware River NJ, the Millstone Plant in Waterford CN, Vermont Yankee south of Battleboro VT, and others that reported problems or reduced operations.
