Flu Vaccines Ineffective, a Mismatch

Lab created or otherwise,  the flu is spreading and mutating and it is not just the H1N1 Swine Flu. 

A new H3N2 variant has emerged that may be poorly matched to the 2009 seasonal influenza vaccine. This could pose a risk to the older population and to those who have been vaccinated against the pandemic strain [sic- just who has already been vaccinated for Swine, I’d like to know?]according to Univ Pitts biosecurity Network Support.  Since 1968, H3N2 has been the dominant strain in most influenza seasons. It has been implicated in more severe annual flu outbreaks than seasonal H1N1, and it harbors almost universal resistance to the adamantane class of drugs.  Over the past few months, the H3N2 virus has been accumulating genetic changes that may diminish the protectiveness of the seasonal influenza vaccine.   While information on the clinical illness caused by the H3N2 variant and the amount of protection conferred by the seasonal vaccine is not yet available, the fact that a vaccine mismatch might exist is worrisome.http://www.upmc-cbn.org/index.html

For over 30 years H3N2 is what has set off alarm bells in our bodies creating fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.  People accepted the seasonal flu shot just as they will accept the new Swine Flu shot, but scientists are ringing the alarm bells that there is a new player coming to attack our bodies and that the flu shot could in fact have little benefit.

Yet, almost all governments are turning towards a mass vaccination campaign.  America was warned in January 2006.  ” High levels of resistance to the adamantane class of antiviral drugs (amantadine and rimantadine) exist in Wisconsin and elsewhere in the United States. Testing of 26 Wisconsin samples at the CDC has revealed a 96% rate of resistance. Amantadine and Rimantadine should not be used for influenza treatment of prophylaxis. Frig judiciousness.  For three or more years, scientists knew these drugs were not working and that there were indicators that there were viral mutations- yet shot after shot, drug after drug were manufactured and  administered.

We’re talking two weeks until projected availability! So much for clinical testing or knowing if it works. The creator must love us humans and especially the scientists at Baxter, but in the most humble offering of advise- wake the frig up.  No way on God’s green earth could a company, not only a company with a laboratory 50 miles away from the Swine Flu ground zero outbreak, with a history of malfeasance develop a vaccine within days of receiving the “seed virus” from WHO, be ready to ramp up production of a vaccine against the H1N1 Swine Flu, and save the world from a potential catastrophic proportion of millions of sick and dead.

I was born at night, but it wasn’t last night.  The virus is allegedly a brand new strain that is targeting young and  healthy people.  The Main Stream Media would have us believe it is a never before seen intercontinental mixture of human, avian and pig viruses from America, Europe and Asia but the leading scientists of the world are calling bullshit, proving that this has been around for perhaps more than 15 years.

Various sources are reporting this new undetected virus that has occurred basically is a freak of nature that is now spreading across the world infecting thousands via human to human contact,  and glory be the pharmaceutical companies are ready with a vaccine within days of WHO announcing a Pandemic.  Oh, get a F*%)!ng grip on reality. 

How long has the AIDS virus been around?  Scientists have had years to study it;  “HIV mutates rapidly, and in the vast majority of people these antibodies cannot completely neutralize the many mutant versions of the virus present in any single person” http://www.iavi.org/research-development/Pages/is-an-AIDS-vaccine-possible.aspx  Mutant versions?  The reassortment of H1N1 and its mutations are all over the map from Gen Bank.

Some licensed vaccines, called live-attenuated vaccines, use a crippled but living version of the targeted pathogen—or disease-causing organism—to teach the immune system what it must attack to prevent infection. Such vaccines, however, cannot be developed against HIV because of concern that the crippled HIV might revert to its disease-causing form. But live-attenuated SIV vaccines have proven effective in protecting rhesus macaques from infection with SIV, providing a proof of concept for an AIDS vaccine.

SIV is the simian immunodeficiency virus- originated with monkeys and mutated to humans.  Bird Flu, Avian Flu, Swine Flu, Hong Kong Flu, Russian Flu- is it all the business of monkeying around with human lives.

First off, a virus is for all intents and purposes not a living thing so tell me how you are going to kill it?  You aren’t and neither is Baxter, Novartis, or Obama. 

You might put faith in Obama to fix everything from the auto and banking industry to health care reform, but why is he so confident in a plan for mass inoculations at this stage is when there is little proof they would be effective?

Baxter is supposed to follows a BSL3 (Biosafety Level 3) protocol to prevent cross-contamination of materials. “It was a combination of just the process itself, (and) technical and human error in this procedure,” said Baxter’s director of global bioscience communications Christopher Bona, ” when samples of H5N1 from Baxter’s Austrian labs contaminated batches of the less harmful H3N2 seasonal flu virus that it was supplying to European nations.

This is not the first time that vaccine companies have been caught distributing vaccines contaminated with deadly viruses.

In 2006 it was revealed that Bayer Corporation had discovered that their injection drug, which was used by hemophiliacs, was contaminated with the HIV virus. Internal documents prove that after they positively knew that the drug was contaminated, they took it off the U.S. market only to dump it on the European, Asian and Latin American markets, knowingly exposing thousands, most of them children, to the live HIV virus. Government officials in France went to prison for allowing the drug to be distributed. The documents show that the FDA colluded with Bayer to cover-up the scandal and allowed the deadly drug to be distributed globally. Vaccine for Pandemic H1N1 Swine Flu, Scientists Roll up Sleeves

Now that The World Health Organization has issued a full pandemic threat,  I find my antennae tuning in to the rapid manufacture and issuance of drugs, vaccines and potential for mass inoculations. 

Drug makers have obtained the new influenza A H1N1 seed virus in the past two weeks, enabling them to begin the production process by growing the virus in eggs.  http://www.reuters.com/article/mergersNews/idUSWLA645920090611 

Swiss pharmaceuticals company Novartis AG http://www.novartis.com/  said today, it has produced a first batch of experimental swine flu vaccine.  The vaccine hasn’t yet been tested and cannot be used in humans yet. It was made in cells, rather than grown in eggs as is usually the case with vaccines, the company said. http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=476980&publicationSubCategoryId=200  Damn, that was fast and they didn’t have to use eggs solving a potential problem for those with egg allergens.

Not to be outdone, Sinovac Biotech Company,http://www.sinovac.com/ a vaccine-focused biotech company in China, started efforts to manufacture A/H1N1 influenza vaccine for human use on Monday, after it received the flu strain samples from the WHO, reported Beijing News Tuesday. It can take five or six months to come up with an entirely novel influenza vaccine,” says John Sterling, Editor in Chief of GEN- Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News. “There is a great deal of hope that biotech and pharma companies might be able to have something ready sooner.” http://www.genengnews.com/articles/chitem.aspx?aid=2938  In just two weeks he has been proven wrong,  as as scientists around the world are accelerating their efforts to develop a vaccine against the H1N1 influenza virus (Swine flu) as rapidly as possible.  

Chan from WHO said she would recommend that vaccine manufacturers proceed with mass production of an inoculation against the new swine flu strain as soon as they finish production of seasonal vaccine, which she estimated would be complete in about two weeks.  HHS spokesman Bill Hall said Thursday that no decision has been made on full-scale production because there is no need yet to make that decision….. The agency awarded a contract several weeks ago to five manufacturers to develop an H1N1 antigen. The companies are producing pilot lots. Citing the world’s best scientists and research- clearly virus mutations can escape detection, have multiple reassortment, have been around for years and contrary to the Pork Industry claims- eight genomic segments of the novel H1N1 have been circulating in swine populations for a number of years, up to 17 years.  How they got there,only God knows- at least so far.

More importantly, how could WHO, the CDC, NATO, IMF, WB, Department of HHS, and any other agency order an H1N1 antigen or a vaccine when the scientists are still studying the viruses genetic make up and its mutations? Drug makers just got a virus seed two weeks ago, yet clinical studies will take place in the U.S. this summer?  What about the criteria for safety, potency and quality?  Will these anticipated clinical testings take place on animals before the initiation of human clinical trials?

Are you willing to stand in line for an untested vaccine against H1N1?  Maybe they will develop an oral one that can be mailed via the post office while you are in isolation or quarantine.

“One year ago, a new technology predicted that significant outbreaks of the H1N1 flu virus would occur within 6 to 12 months…Would- not Could!  The predictions, made by Replikins, were based on correlations of flu virus specimen and Pub Med documentation of major outbreaks during the past 90 years.” Naturally Replikins’ officials say the company’s PanFLu™ vaccine is ready for clinical trials.  Other H1N1 vaccine programs covered in the GEN article include those at Medicago, VaxInnate, NanoBio, Vaxart, Pulmatrix, and Purdue University.  Novavax plans to create a virus-like particle-based (VLP) vaccine against the H1N1 strain, which obviates the need for a live virus seed for manufacturing. How could these companies have known?  How much money are they about to make?  How much more money is Obama going seek for a vaccine?  Will the vaccine kill more people than the virus as in the previous Swine Flu scare?

The influenza B component of this year’s flu vaccine was from the Yamagata lineage.  This was decided in February prior to the H1N1 outbreak; how sure are they months later that this year’s annual flu shot will not do more harm than good or encourage viral mutations?

Vaccine Stockpile for Captain Trips Swine Flu Outbreak

Conspiracy, science fiction, reality and all things aside, this Swine Flu, or Influenza H1N1 is one huge threat.  I wonder if this latest pandemic could end up in a Captain Trips reality.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Trips  Captain Trips was the name of a superflu from Steven King’s best seller, The Stand.  I just finished my third read of the 1000+ page book and recommend it highly. Captain Trips, A6 is also mentioned in Night Surf, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower.  Sadly I am stuck on page 25 of Atlas Shrugged- yawn.

In The Stand, a form of superflu called Captain Trips originates in an American biological weapons lab under the Mojave Desert in California. The official code name of the virus development project was “Project Blue.”  Believed to have been created by breeding a hybrid of influenza and an AIDS like illness, 99.4% of the human population is vulnerable and the disease is universally and swiftly fatal to those that catch it.  Some people have immunity (although it is implied that the survivors are chosen by a higher power). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Trips 

King outlines the total breakdown and destruction of society through widespread violence, the failure of martial law to contain the outbreak, and eventually the death of virtually the entire population.  Science Fiction?  Future Reality? In response to the outbreak, Novavax is making a VLP, virus-like particle vaccine, candidate against the outbreak strain. Using Novavax’s recombinant technology, the VLPs will be genetically matched to the H1N1 influenza strain recommended by CDC, with the potential to induce specific and protective immunity. Whatever our government’s involvement in possibly creating the virus in the first place, it has been working on a program for responding to a mass superflu outbreak as early as 2001:    

HHS has also developed the National Pharmaceutical Stockpile Program (NPS) into a major national security asset. The purpose of the NPS is to be able to rapidly respond to a domestic biological or chemical terrorist event with antibiotics, antidotes, vaccines and medical materiel to help save lives and prevent further spread of disease resulting from the terrorist threat agent. Operated by HHS’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NPS Program would provide an initial, broad-based response within 12 hours of the federal authorization to deploy, followed by a prompt and more targeted response as dictated by the specific nature of the biological or chemical agent that is used.  One of the NPS “12-hour Push Packages” was brought to operational status on September 11th. CDC delivered a 12-hour Push Package of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies by ground, vendor managed inventory by air, and a technical advisory team in New York City, all within 7 hours of the order to deploy. Three out of the four non-military aircraft in United States airspace on the night of September 11th were carrying National Pharmaceutical Stockpile assets and personnel to New York City.

The Stockpile Program was developed as a supplementary response asset mainly to address biological and chemical terrorism. But following the events of September 11th, the program is now being expanded for response to an all-hazards event. The Stockpile presently is able to provide a full course of anthrax post-exposure prophylaxis to more than 2 million persons. Secretary Thompson has directed that the Stockpile development be accelerated to provide increased anthrax prophylaxis capacity for 12 million persons, and CDC will reach that level of response within the next 12 months. We will also add four more push packs to the eight already located across the country, making more emergency supplies available and augmenting our existing supplies of 400 tons by another 200 tons.

But we must accelerate the production of vaccines and antibiotics and invest in essential programs to ensure the speedy and orderly distribution of antibiotics and other supplies in the event of a biological event. That is why the President has called for an additional $1.5 billion in federal funding for those areas most critical to our ability to respond to bioterrorist threats. His proposal includes include $643 million to expand the National Pharmaceutical Stockpile and $509 million to speed the development and purchase of smallpox vaccine.

Just last week, Secretary Thompson announced that Acambis Inc., with support from its subcontractor, Baxter International Inc., has been awarded a $428 million contract to produce 155 million doses of smallpox vaccine by the end of 2002. Production of the vaccine under the new contract could begin as soon as this month and, once completed, will bring the total number of vaccine doses in the nation’s stockpile to 286 million by the end of next year, enough to protect every United States citizen, if needed. Cheerios Conspiracy & FDA Corruption

cheeriosWhose feathers got ruffled enough to think Cheerios is a drug?  The egg industry?  The pork industry?  The pharmaceutical industry?  The FDA?

Promoting Cheerios as a drug that can lower cholesterol is going too far says the FDA.   “Based on claims made on your product’s label, we have determined that your Cheerios Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal is promoted for conditions that cause it to be a drug because the product is intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease.” The agency takes special issue with these claims:  “you can Lower Your Cholesterol 4% in 6 weeks.” 

What a bunch of crapola.  An apple a day helps keep the doctor away, carrots are good for your eyes, lycopine in tomatoes reduces the risk of cancer, coffee is a diuretic, splenda food products cause diarrhea, etc.  A lot of food has heath benefits and warnings, but the Obama FDA Administration has gone after General Mills.

Avoiding bacon and eggs for breakfast everyday, and substituting Cheerios or any other reasonably good for you cereal couldn’t hurt in reducing cholesterol either.  The current box on my shelf has the disclaimer that says, ” MAY reduce the risk of heart attack.” The box also features an ad campaign Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts, donating  $1 toward cholesterol screening for women in need.  www.cheerioshlepinghearts.com .  Considering Heart disease is the #1 cause of death among women, I’d say it a rather noble cause.

From the Harvard School of Health, study after study shows “Soluble fiber helps lower cholesterol. Insoluble fiber helps move waste through the digestive tract. Fiber may also kindle the body’s natural anticoagulants and so help prevent the formation of small blood clots that can trigger heart attacks or strokes.” http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/health-gains-from-whole-grains/index.html.

Why did the FDA cross the road to go after one of America’s best loved breakfast food?   Mounting pressure from the egg and pork industry due to recent viral contaminations has everyone concerned.  The pork industry, already strained from recent outbreaks of the H1N1 flu virus, which is politically incorrect to call the Mexican Swine Flu Virus, prefers you eat bacon or sausage breakfast.

The Incredible Edible Egg.  Despite working hard to convince the world that Chinese food is safe, recently Hong Kong found traces of melamine in some eggs imported from China -“Select Fresh Brown Eggs” were 88% higher than the safety threshold allowed for the chemical.  China and the US are the leaders in egg production.  The egg industry hardly wants to hear about egg substitutes or eating tofu instead.  Neither industry want to hear about vegetarians!  http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/05/chickens-obama-white-house-may.html notes May 4, “International Respect for Chickens Day. A huge benefit from the Egg Industry lies in the production of vaccines.  Vaccines like the one’s the CDC Mandates for Children.  Obama is suggesting this fall all Americans receive three flu vaccines- one for the seasonal flu and two for the Swine Flu.    Mary Tacco’s site reiterates some of the vaccine concerns referencing  Dr. John Martin, former FDA administrator  ” These viruses fail to be recognized by the immune system and lead to neuropsychiatric illness including but not limited to autism.   He believes that the autism epidemic is due to an infectious component and not just thimerosal. (Much like the MMR infection – autism connection.) Also he states that our FDA and our government’s own vaccine studies found the cytomegalovirus DNA, which is from the African green monkeys (simian monkey virus) in the polio vaccination given to all Americans prior to 1992.  Instead of informing the public and taking responsibility for this, they covered it up.  Many doctors believe that the Aids epidemic is the product of these and other vaccines. ”  http://www.marytocco.com/vaccinefacts.htm

Is the FDA’s attack on Cheerios motivated by political donations?  Lobbying matters, don’t kid yourself. 2008 reports from www.opensecrets.com

Total For Food Processing & Sales: $6,700,516— Subtotal for Parent General Mills: $769,300—  Total For Crop Production & Basic Processing: $5,265,275— Subtotal for Parent Food Marketing Institute: $6,248,130— Subtotal for Parent Smithfield Foods: $350,000— Total For Poultry & Eggs: $841,342— The United Egg Producers $80,000— Subtotal for Parent National Chicken Council: $120,000.

The numbers pale in comparison to the Pharmaceuticals/Health Products lobby efforts pending, $235,315,408,  the subtotal for Parent Pharmaceutical Rsrch & Mfrs of America: $20,220,000.  Frig that knowledge is power- money talks.  The money trail to who has the power over what you eat must certainly be influenced by the FDA who’s member have ties primarily to the pharmaceutical industry- not the agricultural, egg, pork, dairy, chicken industries.  “Recent press reports revealed extensive evidence of serious wrongdoing by Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, Dr. Frank M. Torti, top FDA attorneys, center and office directors, and many others in prominent positions of authority at FDA. As a result, Dr. Frank M. The FDA regulates products that represent about 25 percent of every consumer dollar spent. During the Bush administration, the agency was widely criticized for making decisions based on politics, not science.  NPR is reporting, “A Senate committee has approved President Obama’s nomination of Dr. Margaret Hamburg to be the next commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Lord know how much was spend on the propaganda of animal rights groups concerned with how chickens, pigs, cows and other animals are treated. “Recombinant bovine growth hormone, or rBGH, is injected into dairy cows to artificially increase their milk production. The hormone has not been properly tested for safety. Milk labeled rBGH-free is produced by dairy cows that never received injections of this hormone.”Milk lobbyists pointed out that the Food and Drug Administration considers the artificial hormone to be safe (although many scientists believe it may cause cancer). Oh no- I add milk to my cheerios.  A double drug whammy for sure.

I don’t know where General Mills gets the grain to make Cheerios, but I’d  bet that it is sprayed with some sort of pesticide.  There are health and safety risks to producing any food product.  Just ask the peanut industry and tomato growers with salmonella outbreaks.  Animals get antibiotics, and all sorts of injections to make them grow, increase production, alter immune systems – the same as humans, eh?

If a spread of the Avian Influenza (AI) virus cannot be stopped and the H1N1 flu mutates or becomes Pandemic 6; you can bet your sweet petuti consumers are going to refrain from eating poultry, meat and eggs- and maybe even beef, no matter what the FDA, CDC and WHO tell you. 

To think that the FDA has nothing else to worry about than Cheerios being a drug, only reinforces dereliction from The Obama Administration.  How many illegal drugs come into this country everyday?  Could we focus on that?

I wonder if mom’s of boys who use cheerios for kids to aim at during potty training are worried about the potential hazards? Better switch to Lucky charms–lol

Swine Flu Vaccine, Obama Ready for Mass Inoculations

My have times changed.  36,000 people died from the flu in the U.S. last year. 2000 are infected with Swine Flu- H1N1 and it is now deemed a level 5 Pandemic.

A WSJ report says,” Parental doubts about the safety of childhood vaccinations are leading to outbreaks of largely eradicated diseases like measles and whooping cough, doctors warned in a new report http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124165229009493675.html.  “A lot of folks are counterculture-type independent thinkers [who] do not have faith in all the modern medicine-type stuff .” Counterculture?  Perhaps faith in the modern medicine type stuff of vaccines has to do with making an informed decision and about vaccine potential relationships to autism, recalls, efficacy rates, vaccines potentially causing the illness they were designed to prevent, and having guidelines that recommend twenty seven shots. 

The American Pediatrics http://aap.org/advocacy/releases/may09vaccines.htm wants parents to have all the information they need to feel confident in their decision to immunize their children,…supporting  parents in making good health care decisions for their children, and vaccines are critical to our efforts to keep our children out of harm’s way.”  What kind of harm are we inflicting with 27 shots in two years? 

Polio has all been eliminated.  Small pox eradicated, but  I am hardly confident with the vaccine license process and the large number of new vaccines on the horizon. Science has used eggs for years to grow vaccines but what if the eggs are from Avian Flu or H1N1 viral carriers?  The CDC’s own documentation shows reassortment of viruses in ducks, chickens, and turkeys- all egg layers.   Whether it is reverse genetics or creating a hybrid strain through a re-assortment of genes; vaccine work by tricking the immune system into thinking it has been infected with a virus so that it creates antibodies against it.” says the BBC.  It all sounds well and good until you think of the Legionnaire’s Swine Flu outbreak where the vaccine caused more deaths than the virus itself. Remember the Rota Virus vaccine scare that caused painful intestinal twisting?

Health officials have asked manufacturers to ramp up production of the seasonal vaccine scheduled for roll out this fall to make way for the possible mass production of a swine flu vaccine.  I wonder if  the recent shortages in common vaccines are due to the fact that manufacturers were already gearing up to make the switch to producing a H1N1 vaccine that they knew in advance would be a threat. “If they are asked to stop doing that it means there will be shortages of the normal (flu) seasonal vaccine and vulnerable people could be susceptible if there was an epidemic of ordinary flu this winter” says http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8029917.stm 

The top 20 drug corporations and the industry’s two trade groups, PhRMA and the Biotechnology Industry Organization, which represents biomedicine companies must be frantic with their lobbying to encourage federal funding and authorization for the Swine Flu Shot.  I can see the education campaign now with commercials placed right in the middle of Anderson Cooper CNN’s report or an emergency broadcast alert in the middle of announcing the Idol winner.  How’s that for government propaganda?

Smallpox is the only human infectious disease to have been completely eradicated yet, “This press release at MSNBC discusses the intent of SIGA Technologies to respond to a recent U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) RFP for treatment courses for people infected with smallpox. This is the latest in a series of contracts related to preparations for outbreaks of diseases either due to biological attack or pandemics. In January the U.S. government teamed with Novartis to begin construction of a factory to produce flu vaccines in vast quantities. For almost twenty years the U.S. military has been buying and issuing anthrax vaccines and Emergent Biosolutions that produces that for them and other government agencies. The greater challenge will be tracking any adverse reactions as millions of Americans get multiple vaccinations in a matter of months this fall and winter. “There will be adverse effects to any vaccine. That’s just science,” said Michael Hattwick, who ran the CDC’s vaccine-tracking system during the last swine flu scare.  Clinically significant adverse events that follow immunization should be reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
