The wars of religion vs science and capitalism vs socialism continue.  As we prepare to celebrate Easter and Passover, is it possible that we will see a continuation of divergence?  Can we hope that it is possible that these battles will end, and we can all play nicely together?

Keith Lockitch, Ph.D. in physics, and a fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute in Irvine, CA wrote, “At first glance, this seems to exemplify a kind of harmony between religion and science, a peaceful concord between faith and reason. Indeed, a variety of public figures—from prominent scientists to the Pope—have promoted the view that science and religion are not adversaries but complementary and mutually supporting fields. “Truth cannot contradict truth,” they declare, implying that the truths discovered by reasoning from sensory evidence cannot clash with the “truths” of religious dogma.” http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=5139

Truths do contradict truths, everyday. Reality and truth are only what you perceive and believe in.

Religions of the world argue and fight in the name of God.  Scientists argue over Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, although the book Finding God in The Heat of The Battle, David J. Turell writes of discoveries that logically God exists, beyond a reasonable doubt. http://sciencevsreligion.net/  Even The Vatican is clarifying that Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is compatible with its doctrine after all!

Evolution opponents are adapting. Now that “intelligent design” and “creation science” have failed in court, the new catch phrase, the New York Times reports, is “strengths and weaknesses.” It might seem innocuous, but critics say it’s yet another tactic to undermine the teaching of evolution in schools. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/04/us/04evolution.html?_r=1  Lest you forget, global warming is also taught in school along with abstinence.

Father Giuseppe Tanzella-Nitti, Professor of Theology at the Pontifical Santa Croce University in Rome says, As for the Origins of Man, although we shared 97 per cent of our “genetic inheritance” with apes, the remaining 3 per cent “is what makes us unique”, including religion. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article5705331.ece  More monkey business will be discussed at  a papal-backed conference next month marking the 150th anniversary of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species.  Rembrandt’s masterpiece “The Three Crosses”, is a stunning depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=3707

The Foundation for Scientific Research, an Islamic creationist group is widely disseminating a 13 pound, 768-page tome that slams evolution and promotes Islam-inflected creationism, the Christian Science Monitor reports. The Council of Europe has issued warnings—particularly to schools—against the “Atlas of Creation,” which has been published in 80 countries and 59 languages.  http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0803/p01s10-woeu.html

In L’Aquila, Italy, an open- air funeral Mass was held Good Friday to remember victims of Italy’s most devastating earthquake in a generation.  The 6.3-magnitude quake that killed at least 290 people and left nearly 40,000 homeless was preceded with science backed warnings by Giampaolo Guiliani.  The government dismissed his predictions based on seismographic evidence.  Pope Benedict XVI urged survivors not to give up, praying at the end of the Good Friday torch-led Way of the Cross procession at the Colosseum that they may see the “star of hope.”

Turning toward hope for the future and the change Obama professed, the recent polls from Rasmussen say only 53% of Americans believe capitalism is better than socialism.  The youth have a romanticized view of culturally superior European values while, we are witnessing a  modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values in the U.S.  Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto argues for capitalism over socialism far better than I.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1416562850?ie=UTF8&tag=punpun-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1416562850

While Santa Clause is based on a real human being, The Easter Bunny is based on a mishmash of Pagan and Christian ideologies.  The History of  The Easter Bunny can be found at http://www.professorshouse.com/family/holidays/history-easter-bunny.aspx.   Rather than representing the time frame and the events revolving around Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, The Easter Bunny spawns a frenzy of capitalism with gifts like new bicycles, scooters, digital camera, i-phones, mingling in with some chocolate, and of course hard boiled eggs.   I hope we see a bounce in the Consumer Goods Index on The Dow- we can credit The Easter Bunny and not Obama!

The White House will hold the 2009 Easter Egg roll on Monday with environmentally friendly, recyclable Easter Eggs. http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/04/09/white-house-unveils-recyclable-egg/

Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on its way- and maybe religious free socialism too.  Behold your king.

obamareligion

Enough already.  What religion, in the name of God is Obama?

First Obama was a Muslim, then a Christian attending the hate filled, anti- American services of Reverend Wright for 20 years.  Is he turning to Judaism next?  Where does Obama get his divine orders?

On the schedule tonight, President Obama and his family will mark the beginning of Passover with a Seder at the White House with friends and staff.

From the Jerusalem Times, “He also said the holiday presented a message for all humankind. “As part of a larger global community, we all must work to ensure that our brothers and sisters of every race, religion, culture and nationality are free from bondage and repression, and are able to live in peace.”   http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1238562942442&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Perhaps brother and sisters, his faith is only in The New World Order and the larger global economy.

The Washington Times says that Obama has not attended a public church service since the Sunday before he was inaugurated. But the president has quietly kept up his faith, talking by phone with a handful of evangelical pastors, including Bishop T.D. Jakes and the Rev. Kirbyjon H. Caldwell, both of whom once served as spiritual advisers to former President George W. Bush, and the Rev. Otis Moss Jr., a pillar of the civil rights movement. (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/09/obamas-seeking-the-right-church/ )

At least we can rule out Catholicism for the Obamas.  President Obama will deliver the commencement address to graduates at Notre Dame. The preeminent Catholic university in America will bestow upon him an honorary degree when he stands against what most Catholics believe, obfuscating everything from traditional marriage to abortion.

Happy Solstice?  Why not?  There are Solstice Sunglasses http://www.solsticestores.com/ Solstice Residential Homes http://www.solsticecollection.com/homes.php, the awesome Pontiac Solstice Convertible Cars http://www.pontiac.com/solstice, even a new Celebrity Solstice cruise ship http://www.cruisesonly.com/ making use of the word.

Solstice for most of us means the official start of Winter plunging us into darkness and cold, about December 21st.  One wouldn’t know it is still fall with a current Alberta Clipped inundating much of the States today, bringing with it snow and sub zero temperatures.  Winter Solstice 2008 starts Dec 21, 12:04 pm Universal Time and in various time zones:

EST: Dec 21, 7:04 am
CST: Dec 21, 6:04 am
MST: Dec 21, 5:04 am
PST: Dec 21, 4:04 am

You can get complete, exact sun and moon data for any day at http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php

Daylight is the shortest and thoughts of sugar plums dance in our heads with Christmas coming just a few days after.  Ah Christmas- the most apolitical correct thing to say is Merry Christmas, to celebrate the birth of Christ.  Can you imagine?

America’s history has revolved around a separation of church and state but those intertwined religious factions that have made America a better and sometimes more tolerant country.  Here you are free to believe or not.  The government doesn’t mandate any religion upon her people even though we commonly hear one nation under God- no one says what the God is, or if you have to believe in it.

So now at the holiest hours before Christmas, we have people jumping into the fray of anti religion, erecting signs like this one in Washington right next to Nativity Scenes and holiday decorations. Jeez, ya can’t even say Christmas decorations anymore.   Funny thing is, some one stoled the sign and upon it’s return, they added- Thou Shalt Not Steal, from The Ten Commandments.  Wednesday will see the addition of a “Festivus” pole next in the Capitol.  Festivus was made commonplace in the Seinfeld series. Not to be left out is Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights and a Jewish menorah is scheduled for display Dec. 18 . http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/57249.html

“The Freedom From Religion Foundation has displayed a similar sign in the Wisconsin Capitol for more than a decade, and has gotten used to this sort of response, said Annie Laurie Gaylor of Madison, Wis., a co-president. For the first few years, opponents of the anti-religious message there turned the sign to face the wall, removed it, and even showered it with acid, she said.” http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/6420ap_wa_capitol_holiday_displays.html

Even in celebrating Solstice, there are religious undertones.  So much for the atheist theory to keep religion at bay.  Besides the more famous Stonehenge,  there are megalithic structures throughout Europe that are oriented to the solstices and the equinoxes.  “The Roman Catholic Church gave more financial and social support to the study of astronomy for over six centuries, from the recovery of ancient learning during the late Middle Ages into the Enlightenment, than any other, and, probably, all other, institutions.” The Sun in the Church by J.L. Heilbron, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0674854330/nightkitchenA/

“Winter solstice was overlaid with Christmas, and the observance of Christmas spread throughout the globe. Along the way, we lost some of the deep connection of our celebrations to a fundamental seasonal, hemispheric event. Many people–of many beliefs–are looking to regain that connection now. I gain inspiration from the universality of the ancient idea–winter solstice celebrations aren’t just an invention of the ancient Europeans. ” http://www.candlegrove.com/solstice.html

Commentator Bill O’Reilly has pointed out that “Seattle now rivals San Francisco for secular-progressive nuttiness. The city fathers are allowing public nakedness in city parks and nude bike riding, and in Fremont, a Seattle suburb, they actually put up a statue honoring Vladimir Lenin, the father of communism.”  He goes on to say, ” a few nuts have a legal right to run down the Christmas tradition in the lobby of the Capitol building. At this point there is little left to say except this: Where are the wise men when you need them?” http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=29795&referer=sphere_related_content

Winter solstice celebrations have been  part of the cultural heritage of Native American Indians, Pakistanis, Tibetans, Chinese and people the world over.  What could be so hard about just keeping the spirit of magic, a promise of peace,  joy to the world, alive for just a few days of the year with out the fringe destroying hope for mankind?

Today December 7, is the anniversary of the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor.  Thousands lost there lives that day and through out the war.  I imagine the degree to which one believes in a God is exacerbated the one’s closeness to dying.  I believe God meant for us to celebrate the living with simple respect for one another and it seems so very disrespectful to have signs like this, desecrating another’s belief system and intrude on the celebrations.

December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, marking the start of the holiday season in many Catholic countries. The Day celebrates the conception of Mary in the womb of her mother and that from her first moment of conception, she was filled with Grace by God. “Exactly nine months from now, on September 8, we will celebrate Mary’s birthday.”  http://www.fisheaters.com/customsadvent5.html

In these politically charged times, where are all the pro-lifers to comment upon grace being given at birth?   Instead the atheists draw the attention of MSM failing to tie Obama’s abortion record or his associations with Reverend Wright who once professed “God Damn America,” to the season.

It is just all to convenient to choose to ignore the millions who have died in the name of God.  It is all to insulting to those of us who live with God not only on Christmas, but every day.

God Bless America, even Obama.
