Is conspiracy theory nothing more than cognitive dissonance?

Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding contradictory ideas simultaneously. The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance. They do this by changing their attitudes, beliefs, and actions.^[2] Dissonance is also reduced by justifying, blaming, and denying. What is the motivational drive behind conspiracy? I’d say it is to ask questions, validate truth, challenge the unknown, suspect what is known in order to come to the conclusion that sometimes, Situation Normal is All F‘kd Up- SNAFU. Wired magazine had this to say,

Is the earth sinking in on itself?

While it appears that our economy is in a deflationary sinkhole, numerous sinkholes are being reported throughout the world. Wiki says, “A sinkhole, also known as a sink, shake hole, swallow hole, swallet, doline or cenote, is a natural depression or hole in the earth’s surface caused by karst processes – the chemical dissolution of carbonate rocks.”

A natural depression? Many of the recent sinkholes occurring around the world are not in an area where there are carbonate rocks, so what’s up? Or should we ask, what’s going down?

Two new sinkholes were reported today.

HARRIMAN, Tenn. (WVLT) — State transportation officials are warning drivers to avoid a sinkhole on Interstate 40 westbound in Roane County. TDOT says maintenance crews discovered the sinkhole Monday morning in the right-hand lane at mile marker 344.5, just past the Harriman exit. http://www.volunteertv.com/news/headlines/99242529.html?ref=529

Dead animals on farm

Dead animals. Ugh. Woke up to find one of our Pygmy goats dead and one of the many barn cats injured.

Kids are crushed having raised, taken care of & showed her at the county fair.

As parents and being on a farm, teaching the cycle of life and death to children is a challenge. The rabbit escaped, we ate the chickens we raised, and have unintentionally killed numerous pet fish over the years. Hamsters are now dead. Turtle set free in the lake. Dog is fine at almost 7 year old- thank God.

The kids get that most animals are put on this earth to serve and eat. They hunt (unsuccessfully so far) They’ve watched us gut and clean deer, turkey, ducks, etc. They help cook the kill and we believe you only kill to eat.

When it’s a pet that dies for 4H show, it is double sad and a double lesson on how surprising love, life and death sneaks up on you. Rip little goat.

Live life with love and kindness to all God’s creatures- especially each other.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Limits Ammo

Dick’s Sporting Goods limits ammo purchases.

Empty shelves as government ammo orders increase while average Joe shooter can’t even get target rounds!

Walmart limits is two boxes of ammo. Walmart and Dick’s have both stopped selling AR.

Half the places on-line have sold out of ammo or have 2-3 week shipping times.

Time to buy stock in Winchester!

Not the flat cartilaginous fishes related to sharks, but the secret government surveillance device that not only tracks suspected criminals but also intercepts the private information of law-abiding citizens who happen to be nearby. Now, because of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and lawsuit brought by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) against the FBI, the government is slowly releasing thousands of relevant documents that are already raising alarms among privacy and civil liberties advocates.

The stingray came to public notice in 2011 when the FBI used a “cell-site simulator” to track down a suspect. Fracking on The Farm

Frack baby Frack! Chesapeake Energy has been all over our farm and surrounding counties to determine if there is, ‘gold in them there hills,’ so to speak.

Most of the roads and surrounding land have pink flags to mark off potential areas for seismic testing, in search of underground oil and gas. There are wires laying on the ground and helicopters flying when weather permits. To explain how to testing works, read here.

The technology is amazing. In our rural area we’ve seen a few new above ground wells, new gas lines being installed and one fracking well- though not on our land.

We are exhausted over the debate over the Keystone project. America needs to rely on its own energy resources. Now that President Obama has all but shut down the coal industry and denied numerous permitting on federal land, we must rely on Chesapeake and similar companies to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and gas. Billions of wasted tax dollars to Solyndra and the Chevy Volt reinforce that fact.

As for BP, we’re pretty sure they didn’t want to loose billions in the Gulf disaster, cause the loss of life or create environmental hazards. Between the EPA and a zillion other environmental laws is it any wonder that there is fuel in our cars, heat in our homes, air conditioning to run? Yes there there are risks, but otherwise we’d all freeze to death in the dark- clinging to our bibles and guns.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu Will Soon End His Experiment in Washington. He is expected to be replaced with
Tom Steyer, the head of major hedge fund Farallon Capital Management. More on that

A hedge fund guy to be energy sec? Our confidence level isn’t exactly rising. With news out of Algeria of mass casualties at a natural gas facility.

Whatever your thought on global warming, it’s still winter in much of the USA. The heat and electric are on in most parts and the helicopters are flying, the wires are laying in wait to see what treasures the earth will reveal.
