The Census is a big reflection of who our Nation is. ” This data is used to determine the appropriate number of seats in the House of Representatives. It provides key population numbers for Congress and the Administration to determine how federal dollars flow to the states and the data is used by researchers, advocates and policy makers to develop reports, social service programs, and make critical policy decisions.”
They’re here, they’re queer and want to be counted in the U.S. Census.
It’s crazy – the U.S. Census Bureau wants an accurate count of everyone in the country – but there’s no question in the survey that asks if you are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. http://www.queerthecensus.org/site/c.jeJLIVOxEnH/b.5474287/k.9C4D/Queer_the_Census.htm
If you are gay, green, transgender or whatever the census helps determine districts and funding. Asking or telling if you are gay is not relevant, you are an American filling out a piece of paper. End of story. I don’t yell out what I do under the sheets and I don’t want to hear about you being a queer. To be referred to as queer, the census must be rude for so many yet, “For the first time in history, the Census will count both unmarried same-sex partners and legally married same sex spouses in its survey! This advancement is due in great part to advocacy by the Task Force, and our members and supporters.” Again, what does it matter? No one gets married, homo or heterosexual on the basis of what district you live in. Unless maybe it is 90210- Beverly Hills!
http://www.census.gov/ has more where we find it ironic that there is a population clock. tic tock.

People, just people. Black, White, Mixed, Muslim, Christian, Jew, rich, poor, all being born while some are dying.
To ensure a successful 2010 Decennial Census, the Recovery Act includes $1 billion to hire additional personnel for partnership and outreach efforts to minority communities and hard-to-reach populations, increase targeted media purchases, and ensure proper management of other operational and programmatic risks.http://www.census.gov/recovery/index.html
Sound like Acorn?
$1 Billion for minorities? Is that racist and prejudiced in and of itself? Does the government assume minorities are stupid and can’t fill out the damned questionnaire? The President of The United States of America is a minority and I think he can figure it out without $1 Billion extra spent on the instructions.
The programmatic risk relies on the post office ensuring delivery of the census and its return back to the government. As for hard to reach populations, where in America is there a hard to reach population? American Samoa where we shipped Guantanamo Bay refugees? Do we get to count our servicemen and woman even though most of their votes were not counted in the election?
The bigger problem and most offensive is to the black or negro population, as the census refers to- is for people who are not white.
But some blacks have complained that one of the form’s questions is outdated, offensive, and a throwback to the Jim Crow era. Question No. 9 on the form asks: “What is Person 1’s race?” The first selection, no surprise, is White. The second box includes choices in the following order – Black, African-Am., or Negro. Some younger blacks, particularly those under age 40 interviewed by various media outlets, say that the use of “Negro” has no place in today’s social lexicon and it sets the race back in time, via http://www.thedefendersonline.com/2010/01/11/negro-please-some-blacks-offended-by-2010-census-form/
Rather rude choices. I wonder what Barack Hussein Obama will reply, as he has referred to himself as a mutt. No matter your thoughts on race and politics what does it matter? By now we’re all bored with Harry Reid…but-
The revelation comes as the new book has disclosed deeply damaging comments Reid made to the reporters, where he said the country was ready for a black president — particularly one that was “light-skinned” with no “Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Reid immediately apologized for his remarks, and Obama and other Democrats have come to his defense. But the Nevada Democrat has come under ferocious criticism from Republicans, with RNC Chairman Michael Steele and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) each saying on Sunday that he should step down as majority leader. In both Reid’s book and in “Game Change,” Reid is shown as an early supporter of Obama’s presidential run — even though publicly, Reid insisted he was staying neutral in the race. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31318.html
On the one hand, given current trends,, one of every three African-American men born today can expect to go to prison in his lifetime via http://www.chacha.com/question/what-percentage-of-african-americans-go-to-jail-in-their-lifetime Shall we blame poverty, lack of better schools for inner city kids, higher crime rates, whatever- we now have a man of black color serving in the Office of Presidency who has appeal to people of all color because of his education, poise and saying, “Yes we Can,” a billion times, not because of his color. Did he beat the odds by luck or did he work hard to avoid being a statistic? Is it admirable that a man worked hard- yes. Was Reid wrong in spelling out the fact that President Obama is well educated, tucks his shirt in and is a respectable member of society who speaks without slang or a heavy Chicago or NY accent- encouraging a nation to vote for a man of color?
Personally, I’d have rather he have pointed out his associations with Bill Ayers or his lack of presenting a birth certificate.
It is neither here nor there, get another damned form from the government and fill it out….subject to penalty by law. Likely the government knows all about you or soon will after they take a picture of your naked ass going through airport screening- where it doesn’t show what color you are on the x-rays.

Do you think we’ve been “had”? During the 08 election BHO constantly referred to”my white mother”,”my white grandparents” “my white cousin”. On more than one occasion he referred to himself as a “mutt”. It would appear to me that this was an obvious attempt to convince the American public that he was as white as he was black, which is undeniably true. SO,,how is it that on the official US Census form the president does not select white and black(which is allowed) or multi racial as his race, but rather he choose black. I think he understood, correctly, that if many Americans had understood that mind set they would have voted differently. It was a clear deception, and it would appear just one of many that were to follow. Fortunately we will have a opportunity to correct this in 2012.
Well said. Point well versed. Concise and educated.
As for the fine, Americans are broke so it doesn’t really matter and the prisons are over crowded.
My emphasis of peace is being Americian, with a wee bit Italian….when the moon hits your eye that’s amore. Go figure, I like meatballs! Still, I have a USA birth certificate, passport, college records, etc– more than the Prez has offered.
Thx for the comments.
On the question of race on the Census Questionaire, I do believe that ‘negro’ is inadequate, especially when it comes to a consumate politician like Barack Obama.
At the very least, Harry Reid did make the point quite clear:
Choice #1 – Black w/ Ivy League, liberal elitist ‘dialect’.
Choice #2 – Black w/ Cooll ‘Reverand Sharpton’ dialect.
Choice #3 – Mulato w/ subtle emphasis on caucasian lineage.
Choice #4 – Mulato w/ heavy emphasis on African lineage.
Choice #5 – Mulato w/ f.o.i.a. deniability Arab lineage.
Choice #6 – Mulato w/ f.o.i.a. deniability Indonesian lineage.
Of course, each of these boxes would need to be specific about the audience the politician might be speaking to at the time. (i.e. San Francisco Liberal Base, NAACP, SEIU, etc.)
And that was the real point that Harry Reid was trying to make. Even Hillary Clinton has demonstrated the ability to turn on a put on accent to please her audience.
Now, lets see – about that Gay, Lesbian, Transgender or Metrosexual classification . . . hmmmm …
Better defer that to Obama himself, or perhaps Larry Sinclair.
Last but not least – there needs to be a clear specification, in indexed for inflation dollars, about the fine to be imposed if you refuse to answer any of the questions. (With a legal fine print exemption if you check the box pledging a small percent of your federal taxes for ACORN participation, of course.)
P.S. Do not include any refernce to Radical Islam affiliations. Instead, make a reference to GW’s religion of peace.
