IBM appears to be all set for pandemic-

– 15 May 2006: IBM and over twenty major worldwide public health institutions, including the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, today announced the Global Pandemic Initiative, a collaborative effort to help stem the spread of infectious diseases.  With growing concerns over potential outbreaks of new strains of disease, and their ability to spread more easily because of modern transportation, IBM scientists have formed a steering committee with worldwide health organizations and universities to guide efforts to address the issue.

Why is a computer company like IBM conducting advanced biological research on influenza viruses in the first place?

The document also describes “quarantines” and operational procedures to be taken upon the official announcements of the “pandemic” by the World Health Organization. The foreknowledge of such an event could not exist, unless the pandemic was a planned event. Was IBM being prudent to prepare for a pandemic or did they have some sort of involvement in it?

Another IBM press statement from 2-16/2006 release says, Project Checkmate will investigate the emergence of new virus strains and the corresponding immune system response in humans and animals. The A/H1N1 Swine Influenza has not been contained.  As it looks now, there are three choices for humans-

1.  You have a natural immunity for whatever reason, you will not get it and you live another day.

2. You get the flu with all it’s symptoms, survive, and live another day.

3.  You die

Reading here you would think we would offer the vaccine as the fourth option.   Sorry Charlie, but the side effects and efficacy rates are so far removed from any base of reality that if you choose to get the vaccine or the flu mist, the ingredient list alone could kill you.  None of the patient inserts from the vaccine manufacturers claim the vaccine will prevent you from the H1N1 Swine Flu.

If IBM was so ready to jump on the bandwagon, where is the tracking system for the flu that would monitor outbreaks with efficiency rather than estimates from the CDC and WHO.  It has only taken 6 months to procure a vaccine, while IBM’s best programmers had 3 years to develop a migration and reporting program.

Somehow I believe Big Blue knows more about the H1N1 Swine Flu than the CDC, or WHO.  Like Dennis Miller often says, “that’s just my take on things.”
