Russia is putting it’s foot down and it isn’t in a gentle way.

” Kyrgyzstan’s president said Tuesday his country is ending U.S. use of an air base key to military operations in Afghanistan- a decision with potentially grave consequences for U.S. efforts to put down surging Taliban and al-Qaida violence.

A U.S. military official in Afghanistan called President Kurmanbek Bakiyev’s statement “political positioning” and denied the U.S. presence at the Manas air base would end anytime soon.   The United States is preparing to deploy an additional 15,000 troops in Afghanistan and Manas is an important stopover for U.S. material and personnel.

Ending U.S. access would be a significant victory for Moscow in its efforts to squeeze the United States out of Central Asia, home to substantial oil and gas reserves and seen by Russia as part of its strategic sphere of influence.” From AP http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_RUSSIA_KYRGYZSTAN_US_BASE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2009-02-03-12-49-12

Well isn’t that just special?  The Russians come, play war games and poke at us with Cuba and Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, right off the U.S. coastline, and now want to end American presence at a key base just as we are about to increase troop presence.  Such timing.

Just this weekend (Feb 1,09)Near the Pakistan/ Afghan border lies the Swat Valley, where the Taliban and Al Qaeda have traditionally had their strongholds.  17 people were killed in fighting  and the military recently vowed to reinvigorate its efforts where Taliban fighters have set up their own courts, destroyed scores of girls’ schools and reportedly driven out hundreds of thousands of residents.  Swat is less than 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,486388,00.html

Yesterday (Feb 2, 09)  Gunmen kidnapped an American U.N. worker and killed his driver in southwestern Pakistan on Monday, underscoring the security threat in a country wracked by al-Qaida violence and rising criminality.  http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/news/2009/02/gunmen_kidnap_american_un_official_in_pakistan.php John Solecki, the head of the U.N. refugee office in the city of Quetta was abducted as he traveled to work.

Vice President Joe Biden says the nation should expect more U.S. military casualties.  Pentagon officials say they plan to send up to 30,000 additional troops to the Afghan war, where the Taliban is resurgent and violence has been on the rise.

Biden said Sunday that additional U.S. forces will be engaging the enemy more. Asked if that means the U.S. public should expect more American casualties, the vice president said: “I hate to say it, but yes, I think there will be. There will be an uptick.”   From CBS’ “Face the Nation.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/25/biden-on-afghanistan-expe_n_160689.html

An uptick?  Frig your uptick- everyone of those numbers has a name Mr. Biden and no matter one’s opinion of GWB, he never referred to any soldier so insignificantly as being an uptick.  With that said…

The United States set up the Manas base in Kyrgyzstan and a base in neighboring Uzbekistan after the September 2001 terror attacks, to back operations in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan expelled U.S. troops from the base on its territory in 2005 in a dispute over human rights issues, leaving Manas as the only U.S. military facility in the region.

Russia has long been suspicious of the U.S. presence in what it considers its strategic backyard and agreed Tuesday to provide Kyrgyzstan with $2 billion in loans plus another $150 million in financial aid.

Russia also uses a military airbase at Kant, Kyrgyzstan.

The United States currently pumps a total of $150 million into Kyrgyzstan’s economy annually, including $63 million in rent for Manas, Petraeus said last month. http://wire.antiwar.com/2009/02/03/kyrgyzstan-closing-us-base-key-to-afghan-conflict/

No one in the Obama administration has referred to the term, “the war on terror,”  yet the effort to stop terror continues, rightfully so -but at the cost of an uptick of human life.  http://icasualties.org/oef/ and here http://www.unknownnews.net/casualties.html .

It becomes difficult to absorb the fact that we can not, “Get” the bad guys when Google Earth http://earth.google.com/ has released it’s next generation technology that pretty much enables anyone to see a fly on a camel’s ass- anywhere, any time.

French officer Maj. Pierre-Henri Bunel said, “The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida. And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the ‘devil’ only in order to drive the ‘TV watcher’ to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US and the lobbyists for the US war on terrorism are only interested in making money.”

Ain’t that a kick in the ass if he is telling the truth?

I miss old Dean Martin.

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings D- FL, http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=SourceWatch  has introduced H.R. 645 also know as the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act.

H.R. 645  http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h645/text , calls for the Director of Homeland to Security to make available no less than 6 national emergency centers for the purpose of placing citizens on military bases.  It even divides the country up into zones for our convenience,  and will include 2 state-of-the art command and control centers that will comprise a 24/7 operations watch centers.

One wonders if  HR 645 is a guise for the rumors of detention facilities already in place? http://current.com/items/89123596/fema_buys_500_000_plastic_coffins_stored_outside_atlanta.htm  Here another theory-http://www.atlanteanconspiracy.com/2008/07/fema-concentration-camps.html

Is this just one way to legalize the construction of FEMA camps on military installations using the excuse that the facilities are for the purposes of a national emergency? “Bankruptcies, unemployment and social unrest are spreading more widely in China than officially reported, according to independent research that paints an ominous picture for the world economy.   http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/economics/article5627687.ece   Having so much faith in our Main Stream Media,  is this kind of legislation in preparation for  unrest and martial law in America?

Look, we know all about the problems of an unexpected stay in the Super Dome or in FEMA trailers, but military bases are where orders are followed and there is no just leaving when you feel like it.  If you can not leave, the name game changes from an Emergency Shelter to a Detention Camp.

The military has guns, you will not. Local residents in Germany claimed they weren’t aware of the camps during WWII that were right under their noses, and many of the Jews, dissidents, and others had no idea where those trains were taking them.  Which Fema militarized zone would you go to or be sent to? http://www.fema.gov/about/regions/index.shtm   Hop aboard, we’ll take care of you.  Don’t sit by Rush Limbaugh, I hear he gets train sick.

Document showing who The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force considers terrorists
Are you on this list?  http://www.uaff.us/fbijointterrorismtaskforce.htm

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF)  attempts to identify criminal activities with domestic terrorists.  Do you defend the Constitution above the United Nations?  Do you identify yourself as a Christian?  Do you try to police the police?  Did someone id you as a threat and could you be a target for being a perceived threat or detained?

The ACLU has been investigating and calling public attention to activities at  JTTF that they feel pose a threat to civil liberties believing that it has been gathering information and building files on the activities of peaceful protesters who have no connection to terrorism or any other criminal activity.  http://www.aclu-co.org/spyfiles/fbifiles.htm  The Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) maintains the U.S. government’s consolidated Terrorist Watchlist—a single database of identifying information about those known or reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activity.  http://www.fbi.gov/terrorinfo/counterrorism/tsc.htm   Would these Emergency Centers used to house suspected terrorists who could be held without charges or legal representations  The Military has its own court and certainly there are existing laws to hold suspects without charges as in Gitmo.

What if there is no giant emergency or declaration of emergency, even though VP Biden thinks there will be?  Throughly devastating floods, earthquakes and hurricanes like Katrina prayerfully don’t happen too often.  Thanks to GWB, we have seen no terror like 9-11 on our soil since.  Seeing as Obama is cutting 10% of the military budget I can not see spending one dime to prepare for something that may never be needed.  We already have prisons.

H.R. 645 was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and in addition to the Committee on Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Maybe Denny’s is trying to place nice now that we have a black president.  Back in the 90’s there was a lot of bad publicity and claims of racist business practices.  All that is behind them apparently as Denny’s is offering a free breakfast tomorrow to make nice nice.

The Denny’s Grand Slam free breakfast offer, aired during the Super Bowl and includes pancakes, bacon, eggs and sausage.  It is only available for free on February 3, and only between 6am and 2pm and only at certain Denny’s.

The commercial can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5ckPe4Bpaw.  Over all, I’d say thumbs down of the commercial and I not quite sure what the reasoning is behind offering a Grand Slam, the term which is usually used in reference to baseball or tennis, not football.  Yeah I know the Grand Slam is the name of their biggest selling menu item so why not offer free coffee instead and keep the revenue to pay for the million plus dollar ad.

I saw Universal Studios is giving away 100,000 free tickets to its amusement park.  Budweiser is not giving away anything, but maybe they should. Bud is a dud and so were the ads.  It tastes like crap and being a rice based beer, pretty much gives everyone that drinks it the hangover they deserve for drinking it.  $27 million dollars in ads- ugggh.

I wonder what kind of beer the soldiers got in Iraq this Super Bowl?

“The beer started flowing an hour before kickoff, with each soldier allowed to drink two 12 oz. brews from their choice of six brands. The soldiers had been granted a one-time exception to a strict military ban on drinking alcohol in combat zones.”The Guinness went within minutes. It didn’t stand a chance,” http://www.buffalonews.com/nationalworld/international/story/566923.html

For the most creative beer ad label ever, take a look at Nude Beer.  The bottle came with a sticker on it that after peeling it, shows boobs.  That’s what I am talking about in getting me to buy a product.  http://www.beerlabels.com/labels/labels.pl/4760/nude-beer.html  shows the label 5000 or so other ones.  It sure beats the hell out of the Queer Beer. http://www.beerlabels.com/labels/labels.pl/1895/brew-q-pale-ale-side-1.html

http://www.gunaxin.com/ has a whole review of the entertaining side of the ads from the game and this feature with Dennis Leary summing up the making of shitty beer, “So months go by, of course, right? Now I’m eating pretzels and I’m thirsty. I go and open the refrigerator, I see a beer out of the corner of my eye. I grab it, I open it up SLUUURP! PHBBBBBT! Cran..berry ale. Cranberry nut crunch fucking ale! Let me tell you something, folks. Cranberries and beer do NOT go together, okay? One’s for bladder infections, one’s for getting drunk! I take a look at the label of my beer; you know what’s on my beer label? Santa Claus is on my beer label. I swear to God! Why don’t you put the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy on there, too. Call it ‘Pussy Ale’ while you’re at it, go ahead.”

Really, ya got to love Denny’s. Where else can you go to get chicken or a grand slam at 3 in the morning while you are drunk off your ass, even if it is from Bud?  No matter if you are in idiot, shit faced, stoned or whatever, as long as you’ve got money, you got food and tomorrow assuming you’ve got manners, during the morning hours- breakfast is on Denny’s.

Hard to complain about free food.

BTW, draft beer not soldiers.

PS-  Louis Glunz Beer Inc., a Lincolnwood distributor, sent over 4,000 bottles of Schlitz beer to troops in Iraq. The free suds, along with 2,000 pizzas from Lou Malnati’s, were packed up Friday and flown overseas courtesy of DHL, an international express mail service.

Maybe Denny’s ought to send the soldiers a free breakfast next time.

Today- February 1, 2009 is Human Day.  “Renri”, literally “Human Day” in Mandarin, is the seventh day of Chinese New Year and Chinese believe that it was the day when human beings were created. If the weather on Renri is fine, it can be forecast that God will grant good luck to all people on earth. Fireworks can also be lit, so Renri celebrates the birthday of fire as well.

Certainly there will be fireworks tonight in Tampa for the Super Bowl and the weather is expected to be clear and warm for the event.  The other thing making an appearance at the Super Bowl, will be prostitution.  Real men don’t pay for sex, but there are plenty who do.  The really sad thing is the amount of human traffucking- er, trafficking that occurs around large sporting events.

The majority of young male and female victims of sexual exploitation tend to be runaway or thrown away youth.   Some are recruited into prostitution by forced abduction, pressure from parents or through agreements between parents and traffickers. Controlled commercial sexual exploitation is linked to escort and massage services, private dancing, drinking, photographic clubs, conventions, cultural events, tourist destinations and sadly, major sporting events like the Super Bowl.  One-fifth of child prostitutes become entangled in nationally organized crime networks and are trafficked nationally to solicit their services.  http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/ceos/prostitution.html

How does one advertise such a service?  Is it like standing out on the corner where someone yells, “Get laid here,” rather than, “Get your programs here?”  Ads on the Internet are one way Tampa police say they found out about numerous prostitutes coming to town during Super Bowl XLIII. “The reason we know that is we see a gigantic uptick in Internet activity,” Tampa Police Chief Bret Bartlett said.  http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Tampa-police-plan-to-battle-Super-Bowl-week/3dGS8MxnO0iwXBCeNQCwmg.cspx

Human trafficking is nothing less than slavery which forces millions of people around the world into labor or sexual servitude.  Following illegal drug and arms dealings, it is estimated to be the the third largest illegal industry.

Poverty, ignorance, superstition, social customs, greed, government corruption, and human cruelty combine to put families — particularly women and children — at risk. Too often traffickers are known to their victims as family members or neighbors.  Some had received an advance payment against their birth.   The images are often horrific and some can be seen here,   http://www.gtipphotos.state.gov/gtip.cfm?galleryID=563&id=1 .  Props to http://armybarmyremix.blogspot.com/ who keeps tabs on the buying and selling of people.
The U.S. Department of State’s,  Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP), provides the tools to combat trafficking in persons and assists in the coordination of anti-trafficking efforts both worldwide and domestically.  http://www.state.gov/g/tip/.  Maybe the Obama administration will put as much effort to take steps forward in combating global slavery as on, combating the fallacy of man made global warming and a green agenda to create jobs.

Ticket Solutions http://www.ticketsolutions.com/tickets.aspx?eventid=736731 is offering a 50 yard line seat for $3490 for the game.  I wonder what it costs for a boy, girl, or woman prostitute?  Certainly cheaper, but the cost of this societal sin is much higher.
Does the Super Bowl culture sexual depravity, in and of itself?  NBC banned a racy PETA ad from this Sunday’s Super Bowl.  PETA  made 5 ads, not just 1 and all 5 ads are posted at  http://www.ickypeople.com/2009/01/watch-all-5-banned-peta-vegetarian-sex.html.
Sex may sell, but buying sex is just wrong on so many levels.  The reality that human beings continue to be bought and sold in the twenty-first century is an abomination, and so is paying $3490 for a ticket to the Super Bowl.
