A few nice days in a row in the Midwest just remind us that winter really sucks.  Our crops are mostly done, just waiting on getting the winter wheat into the ground.  Might as well get back to writing.  

It looks like NC 12 will reopen tonight bringing motorists back to Hatteras Island after hurricane Irene created a new breach, August 26th.  By most accounts the area and year round residents are still in dire need, especially with the tourist season over.
